Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

"Nagato!" He moved his eyes away from the television at his mother's call. "The repairman is here! Get the door!"

The former shinobi stood up from the sofa and went to the door like a normal teenager would have. He might as well, he had had enough of the news. Everytime he watched the headlines, he just got more annoyed. How was it that a world without chakra and shinobi could be so fucking miserable?!

Opening the door, he saw a man in overalls with the name of Arasaka Corporation written on them. His hand was insistently pressing on the doorbell. Not that it would do him any good.

"That doorbell stopped working ages ago."

"Yeah, I suppose that's why the instructions said to call when I got here."

"Morning. I am Nagato Uzumaki." He greeted, and the repairman, obligated by his service training, greeted back.

"Good morning, I am Oliver. Mr Uzumaki?" He nodded. "I am here for the washer."

Nagato noted the name. A personal connection would be useful for what he planned to do later.

"I don't suppose that you can get the doorbell checked while you are here?" He asked as he led Oliver towards the washer, passing his mom in the kitchen who gave him a smile.

Uzumaki Fuso was putting together a breakfast for him and lunch for herself and his father. She was wearing a skirt and blouse, looking not much different than she did in their past life in Amegakure before Konoha had taken his parents away from him.

Oliver knelt in front of the washer, pulled out a tablet and connected it to the machine using a cable. It made some beeps and boops before he turned to Nagato, looking confused.

"I see nothing wrong with it?" Oliver half questioned. "Your recharge is just running low."

"Yupp, that's the problem." He agreed.

"What?"

"I have already paid for the machine and paid for the electricity it uses." With a mental command, Nagato turned off the contacts hiding his eyes. "I am not going to pay for every use as well. So, Oliver, why don't we find a way to make sure this stupid thing never shuts down again in the middle of a cycle?"

Even with the genjutsu, it took longer than expected. The technician did some magic and after declaring the machine irreparable, had it disconnected from the Arasaka servers. Nagato needed to genjutsu another technician who came to carry away the washer to a junkyard to make them think that it was all cleaned out.

By the time he was done, his mother had put on her scrubs and left for her shift at the hospital. His dad had been working since last night. For some reason, the fact that both his parents worked at the same hospital, made their superiors think that they did not need to go home as often as the other employees did. Even on Sundays.

He helped out where he could, taking charge of doing small chores and ensuring the monthly subscriptions were all paid for. Which meant that they won't even notice that the washer won't need to be recharged anymore.

Still, at least he had the day off.

Locking the door behind him, Nagato went outside.
