Her body tensed up, and her hand subconsciously touched the empty pocket in the hopes of taking out a talisman.
"My son! My son!" Mathilda, with limping legs, rushed toward Xander, and tears were streaming down her face.
She stopped in front of Xander and hugged him with care and concern. "Xander! Wake up! Dear! Are you alright?"
"He is, Mrs. Ferns." Lana's chilling voice cut through the air, causing Mathilda to pause. Guilt and shame flickered in her eyes as she looked at Lana, and words of gratitude rolled off her tongue.
"Thank you so much, Lana; if it weren't for your help..."
"You all woud have died." Lana interrupted; her eyes were devoid of any emotions, and the chill in her eyes was difficult to ignore.
"That... for the earlier... I apologize... I shouldn't have interrupted..." Mathilda's voice became lower and lower toward the end, as the weight of her mistake settled in.
