Paulina's voice trembled so much that her words almost tangled together. Her hands clutched Sterling's sleeve like she was holding onto her last thread of sanity.
Sterling, on the other hand, was shaking so violently that his teeth nearly chattered. "M-Miss Lana… i-is that thing… screaming at us?"
Lana sighed. "Yes. It's called pain. Ghosts also feel it."
Sterling whimpered. "I-I didn't know they screamed like humans…"
Mr. Crow clicked his beak. 'Then what did he expect? Ghosts singing lullabies while floating?'
The shrieking ghost clung to the edge of the roof for a moment, trembling violently as the burning sensation of mystic energy spread across its form. Its head twisted back into place, eyes widening as it recognized its attacker.
The ghost pointed at Lana with a trembling, transparent finger. "YOU! Why did you attack me?! I was just… hanging around!"
Lana crossed her arms. "You and your friends were causing chaos inside the house."
The ghost puffed up in indignation.
