Lana quickly regained her composure and pushed the card back a little. "You already gave me one card before."
Lucian smiled, as if he had expected that response.
"I know. And I also know you never spent even a single dime from it because of your self-respect." His eyes softened. "But this time, it's different. This money is compensation."
Lana stared at the card in silence. Her fingers hovered above it, hesitant. Slowly, her gaze drifted toward Mr. Crow.
Just earlier, before breakfast, he had grumbled that Lucian was nothing but a cheap person and that the two of them could never get along.
Now, she desperately wanted to tell him, 'See? We can get along just fine.'
