Chapter 20 - Home 4

The Baron and his wife, having been informed about Livia's arrival, was already waiting in the drawing room.

"It's been a while, Father, Mother." -Livia greeted them as soon as she entered the drawing room.

Livia's father Oliver Maren stood by the window, stroking his protruding belly and close to the window side, Livia's mother, Elira Maren sat on elegantly on a couch sipping tea from a porcelain cup

"What brought you to the main residence, Livia?"

Instead of greeting her back, Oliver snorted and asked. Her mother glanced at Livia for a moment and simply muttered "Look what state you are in" before returning to her tea.

"We were informed the you were in the underground library." The baron asked with sharp, suspicious gaze.

There was no affection between Livia and her parents. Well… they didn't live together but their relationship was also not good. When Livia first the home at the age twelve, they had never once been worried about her. They were more worried about the wealth Livia had took with her.

"What were you doing there, Livia?"

When he asked again, he couldn't even fathom the idea that his daughter had gone to the underground library's basement to find a way to break the binding curse. Knowing this she contemplated for a moment.

"I was looking for some magical research material, thought I would find something useful"

Baron Maren squinted his eyes and his greasy mustache quivering with the force of his breath when he asked "That place hasn't been used for years… Tell me the truth what were you doing there?"

"Hmm…Father"

Livia averted her gaze and twisted a strand of her hair.

Since it had come to this, it might be easier to just ask.

"Do you know how to break the curse of two snakes?'

As soon as Livia asked the question, the composure vanished from Oliver and Elira's face. Their faced paled.

"Wh-What… What did you just say?"

"I'm asking about two snakes. I mean, do you know how to break the curse that's binding me?"

Talking about the curse was considered a taboo from Livia's childhood.

Even if Oliver and Elira were not good parents, they were the only people Livia could talk so directly. Because even if they were undesirable pair, they were still her family.

No matter how much Livia acted out, they can't betray her by telling anyone that "Livia Maren is thinking about betraying the Feliste Family". Because the moment they say that not only Livia but the whole Maren family will get executed.

"Y-Youuu..!"

"YOU Crazy girl!"

"You, you, how dare you say such a thing?

Do you even know what are saying right now?!"

Chaos erupted in the whole drawing room.

Oliver slammed his fist on the table before him, then pointing a finger at Livia with a horrified expression Oliver asked.

"Do-Don't tell me you were looking for counter curse in the underground library's basement?!"

"Yes…"

"That's right I've been looking for a way to break the curse.

So, if you know anything about it please tell me."

When Livia answered shamelessly, the baron's face turned white to red from anger.

"Did you really think I would know? Why are asking such a thing?"

"…"

'Right, they are not talented in magic and curse just like Livia. But still…'

There is something that's been bothering Livia.

"…Do you really don't know how to break my curse?"

"Yes, I don't know! And even if I knew I wouldn't tell you!"

Oliver's answer 'I don't know' doesn't seem to be something that just blurted out.

Maybe he really doesn't know anything about the curse.

"Huh"

Livia took a deep breath to steady her mind again.

"Father. Let me change my question"

"Who cursed me? It wasn't you, was it? Or was it aunt Alicia or uncle James or uncle Thomas? But they don't have that much magic power either…"

"W-Who? Of course, It was me, I cast the spell!"

Oliver blurted out, his voice filled with panic. His heavy movements caused the table and even the floor to shake.

And that's when joined Livia's mother Erila Maren.

"What's wrong with you? Why are asking these wired questions?

Honestly, ever since you left the home you have become so strange."

'What strange? She was strange even before she had left the home'

'Sigh!'

The conversation going nowhere. And it didn't seem like they were going to have a proper conversation anymore. She finally lowered her head and gave up for now.

"I'm just asking, … I'm sorry"

Oliver and Elira narrowed their eyes with suspicion.

" Father, Mother, don't you know me well? I wasn't thinking about breaking the curse. And why would I do that? It just that the academy was teaching about dark magic and from there I got curious about curse magic, that's it. And besides even if I knew how to break the curse, do I have the ability to break it?"

Livia laughed nonchalantly. Elira, seemingly dissatisfied with her response, pouted and exclaimed,

"Don't ever say such thing, even 'I was just asking', Okay?"

"Yes, I'm sorry"

"Livia Maren, from today onwards you are forbidden from going in the underground library, even close to it"

Oliver declared in a low voice threatening voice.

"Yes… Do as you please father."

Livia shrugged indifferently.

'It's not like there's anything that can help me'

"Good. Give your best to serve Lady Madline."

"Yes father."

With that Livia left the Living room.
