World

Fear. Despair. Violence. Betrayal. Abuse. Injustice.

The world is filled with this madness. An human being must face them every day. Or rather, pretend is okay. Turn your back. Look away. If it won't affect me, why should it matter? But if it comes to affect you, everything changes.

Now you stand before a threatening world, one no one would wish to live in. Look inside your mind and imagine a future for yourself, but imagine it in detail — from the moment you open your eyes and slowly rise from bed, until the moment of sleep.

Some may have imagined a successful career, others a loving family, and some ambitious ones eternal fame. But the world you will witness will show you none of this. Of all the people who imagined the most complex and extravagant futures, not a single one could imagine this world. Keep that truth in your mind.

In this world, the poorest are constantly oppressed by the wealthiest. The social segregation is so extreme that cities are divided into the areas of the rich and the areas of the poor, which are obviously smaller. The poorer areas are always pushed to the edges of the cities, like the place where you store trash in your home — when food spoils and you throw it into the garbage bag, looking away in disgust.

People are discarded in the same way.

Still, I must point out that the police forces of these cities are well-structured and efficient. Now you may breathe deeply, look at the ceiling, and feel the chilling relief coursing through your chest. But that is naïveté. Haven't you been paying attention to my words?

Revisit it if you are a careless reader. That's right. Injustice. Even if the authorities are efficient, discrimination and segregation still govern the culture, which is why many are unjustly accused, tortured, killed without reason. This is reality. Swallow this reality like that bitter medicine you need to take to get better, even though it makes you dizzy, uncomfortable.

The more attentive reader may be less impressed: "But is that all? My world is exactly like that!" Ah, how I love the questioning reader. Then prepare yourself for another important piece of information. As I said, terrible and unjust things happen all the time in this world—it is practically routine, and that should be enough. But no.

Every day a new anomaly is born from the wicked thoughts of people. These anomalies are called Feareds. They are insatiable monsters that dwell in the darkest depths of the human soul. With thoughts so heavily imbued with meaning, these monsters break free from the inner realm of man and take physical form, doing whatever they please in the world.

Imagine you worked hard all day to provide for your wife and child. You feel tired, exhausted, but at least you know there are people waiting for you at home, people who love you and would do anything for you. However, one day you come home earlier than usual, hopping with joy to be free from your draining job.

You put the key in the lock, but —wait— that's strange, the door is already open.

How careless of your wife to leave the door like that, when anyone could break in. Passing through the living room, you see your son playing eagerly with his toys. Inside the bedroom, your wife and your boss are also playing — in a different way.

What do you feel?

A rage that burns through your entire body? A sorrow that makes your eyes sting?

A monster has just been unleashed from within you. That's how the Feared born.

I believe you understand my point now.

On top of all the injustice that already poisons the world, the phenomenon of the Feareds suddenly began to plague humanity, worsening what was already unbearable.

Humanity must endure it.
