Chapter 146 - TOA 146: All Humans Are Stardust

During the Age of Gods in Greece, Olga Marie knew Morpheus had adventured with Artemis, as detailed in his report. But the revelation that Artemis, the virgin goddess, was his lover stunned her.

A goddess and a human, together? And not just any goddess, but the chaste Artemis?!

What shocked her most was that not only was the goddess his lover, but Medea, too, and even Artemis's devotee, Atalanta, had loved him fiercely.

So, back then, this guy was dating two women while a third pined for him relentlessly?!

Without hesitation, Olga Marie voiced her opinion: "Scum!"

"You're right. I'm scum," Morpheus nodded, admitting it outright.

Olga Marie stared, surprised, then sighed. "Your shamelessness matches your strength."

"I won't lie. I like charming, beautiful women. If there's mutual affection, I want to be with them. That's natural, isn't it?" Morpheus said.

Olga Marie found herself at a loss for a rebuttal.

"Truthfully, I rejected both Medea and Artemis at first. I was clear about my situation... I'd return to my timeline, and we might not have a future together. But even knowing that, we ended up together.

"Sometimes, emotions are hard to control. I thought ignoring Atalanta would give her a better future, but I never expected her to stay unmarried, not for faith, but for me. Waiting for someone like that is painful, so learning about it, I deeply regretted…"

"Regretted not accepting her?"

"Exactly. I regret leaving her to live like that…"

Seeing Morpheus's candor, Olga Marie didn't know what to say. Finally, she cleared her throat. "Fine, I get it. As Director, I need to understand my subordinates' mental states. You're okay, that's enough!"

She turned to leave, her pace quickening until she seemed to float away.

It looked like she was fleeing in embarrassment.

"Good news: you can rest longer this time since you resolved the first Singularity so quickly."

In the meeting room, Morpheus yawned as Olga Marie spoke, earning a sharp glare.

He sat up straight, eyes wide, and she nodded, satisfied, before continuing.

"Let me brief you on the next Singularity. The second Singularity is in 60 AD Rome. Though it's been heavily altered, you can spend the next few days researching that period to prepare for unexpected situations."

Ritsuka appeared to listen but was clearly distracted, her mind elsewhere.

Mash, in contrast, paid close attention. Since Mash was Ritsuka's Servant, Olga Marie figured Mash's attentiveness covered for Ritsuka and let it slide.

"In 60 AD, Rome's emperor was Nero... a woman," Morpheus interjected.

Olga Marie frowned. "How do you know it's a woman?"

"I know a lot. Nero being a woman makes sense. Maybe the Creator just likes it that way?" Morpheus grinned. "Like how King Arthur's a woman, too."

He rubbed his chin. "Though, there might be a male Arthur somewhere, or even a non-binary one. The multiverse allows for anything."

The group imagined a non-binary King Arthur, shaking their heads at the bizarre concept.

"Maybe there's a Pig Arthur, and that world's humans are all pigs! Okay, don't look at me like that... I'm kidding!"

"Stop joking at a time like this!" Olga Marie snapped, then asked, "You're familiar with this history?"

"Decent enough. You need to know history to study magic," Morpheus replied.

Reassured, Olga Marie briefed them on the base's recovery status before ending the meeting.

Afterward, Romani pulled Morpheus and the others to another area, where a woman awaited.

Seeing her, Morpheus blinked. "Mona Lisa?"

Then he shook his head. "You're a Servant? A fake Mona Lisa? Or someone else in disguise?"

"Da Vinci…" Romani muttered, glancing at her. "See, you got found out instantly!"

"You're the one who spilled my name!"

"I meant your Servant status!"

Da Vinci ignored Romani, approaching Morpheus. She studied him closely before speaking. "You're unique... bearing Servant-like traits yet purely human. But as a human, your power far exceeds human limits."

"No, I disagree. My power doesn't surpass humanity... it's within human bounds. I've never abandoned my human identity for something inhuman, and I'm not qualified to do so now," Morpheus shook his head. "No matter how strong I am, as long as I remain human, I don't transcend humanity. This power is inherently human."

His words stunned Da Vinci, who then smiled. "You think other humans could achieve such power?"

Magic has vanished, maguss cling to survival, and mystery's future is stunted... humanity's path lies with science.

Morpheus's power is mystical, yet humans struggle to wield such forces!

"A friend of mine once said something I love," Morpheus grinned.

"What?"

"All humans are stardust," Morpheus said, quoting Crowley from his past.
