Chapter 16 - Sixteen

"JUST DIE" the words rang into her ears, memories flooding in as if it was yesterday. Elisa could recall when they lost their parents, how Bella seemed to be the one who it hit the most, and of course one person had to be strong. Wrapped with the guilt of the demise, she swallowed her pain, leaving no room for mourning as she worked her ass off to make ends meet.

Who knew that would turn out to be the biggest problem? Who knows it would lead to her demise? Elisa wondered when the hatred started and how she was so blind to even notice anything.

But then again, isn't there a saying about love being blind?

That was probably why. She loved Bella with everything in her. She had no one except her and she cared for her wholeheartedly. But what did she get in return? Lies, jealousy, envy, hatred and finally death..

If someone has told her that she would be in such a position today, she would have laughed hysterically like a crazy person, but here she was, in a wheelchair, living someone's else's life — which seems just as pathetic as hers — and watching Bella go on with her life like nothing happened. Like she didn't just murder her sister and take her boyfriend.

Bella pulled out a card to pay for something, and she looked at the card. It was her card. She was out here squandering her hard earned money..

If she was still Elisa— breathing and alive— her heart would have leaped for joy. She had always been begging Bella to use her card, spend her money since she made the money for both of them, but Bella would always refuse.

Even with that, Elisa still sent money to her account every month. Guess that wasn't what she wanted. She wanted everything Elisa had. She wanted her life.

'Everything comes with a price', they say, and she must pay for what she took.

Mira noticed the way she was staring at her, and wheeled her away faster. When they had gotten to a distance, Mira stopped and squatted in front of her.

"Are you okay, ma'am?" She asked. Elisa snapped out her thoughts. "You were staring at that lady way too much"

She shouldn't act this way. She shouldn't blow her cover. She put on a huge smile as she replied "i was trying to recall where I know her "

"Oh," Mira stood up. "Probably from the television. She's the sister of the actress that died. Tragic" Mira said, shaking her head. "I still watch her movies till this day, and she's so pretty"

"Oh, are you a fan?"

"Yes. Who isn't?"

'Apparently, my own sister' Elisa thought. "Let's go" she said to Mira.

Elisa and Mr Anderson had picked the mall for their meeting because it was crowded, so there wouldn't be much eyes and no suspicions drawn. She needed everything to go almost perfectly.

The plan was simple. Elisa comes first and meets up with X and Mr Anderson joins later. Everything was going the way it was meant to..

She went towards the clothes section and started going through some. She held one and nodded because she liked it. But instead of buying, she put it back on the shelf.

"Not taking it?" Someone asked. He was putting on a black t-shirt and slightly faded blue jeans. He looked like he was in his early or middle thirties.

"No"

"Well then, lucky me. This would look pretty on my girlfriend"

X.

That was the code.

Found him. Come in about five minutes.

She texted Mr Anderson.

Anderson: K

"On second thought, this would look great on my friend too"

"I guess we have good eye then?"

"Yes" she responded.

"Mm, what does she look like?" he asked.

"uh…fair, slender"

Meanwhile Mira was scanning around wondering when the person she was meant to meet would arrive. She looked at Elisa and thought 'friend?' it's been for close to two months and she hasn't seen a single friend"

"Cool. So, uh ….do you have her picture? I can help recommend more dresses for her" he said. "That's if you don't mind though" he added quickly.

"Of course" She opened her gallery and began showing him pictures. But of course, it wasn't pictures of her 'friend', it was pictures of Jake and Bella.

X nodded in understanding. "Do not look around. We're being watched" he whispered and Elisa's heart leaped.

Who would that be?

She maintained her composure. "And this is her in the beach"

"Then you should definitely get this two" he pointed.

Just then, her phone pinged..

Anderson: Close.

Quickly she replied.

Abort. Being watched.

Turning to Mira, she said "let's go"

To avoid raising suspicions, she took the dresses and paid for them. Also, she got some things for the renovation of the room.

....

"You didn't get to see the person anymore" Mira said as they got out of the car and she was wheeling her in.

"Change of plans. I'll just leave it for later" Elisa replied.

As they got in, as if on cue, Ethan was coming out so they almost collided at the center.

"Was about coming to get you" He said and dismissed Mira.

"What are you doing?" Elisa asked, her irritation rising.

"Taking you to your room"

"No. I mean, what are you doing?" She craned her neck to look at him. " What are you up to?' she asked, staring into his eyes.

He let go of her wheelchair and stood upright.

"What are YOU up to?" he asked back.

"I don't know what's going on in your head, but please don't drag me into it"

And with that, she pressed her wheelchair and it rolled away.

Ethan went to his room and picked up his phone.

Messages were already waiting for him.

She didn't do nothing. Just shopped.

Ethan sat on the bed, his mind running.

Where did he go today? He texted another number.

He was at the mall, sir

Did he cross paths with my wife?

No sir, they didn't even cross paths. He just got a few things and left

Even with this, Ethan still felt like there was something going on, but he couldn't place his fingers on it.

In a dark alley, two buff men stood and whispered words to each other. Then one of the men took out a picture and pasted it to the other and he nodded in understanding
