Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Weak Alpha

Davies arrived at the pack house, nestled on the outskirts of the city—a secluded, ancient castle cloaked in night's embrace.

As the car rolled through the gate and came to a gentle stop, Davies turned eagerly to Kira. A wide smile spread across his face. "Welcome to my home," he announced, his voice brimming with pride.

He was quick to alight from the car, turning to open the door for Kira. She stepped out gracefully, her presence commanding attention.

Suddenly, a group of three boys approached, their eyes widening at the sight of Davies with Kira—initially shocked by her striking beauty and intoxicating scent.

Seeing them, Davies straightened his posture, a flicker of remembered mockery crossing his face—the last time these boys had teased him, calling him "a wolf without a mate." The thought of Kira standing beside him ignited a quiet pride; a smile curled at his lips.

The boys looked at Davies with envy, one of them sneering, "Davies, what wild girl have you brought to the pack house? Did you dare bring a rogue here?"

Davies's gaze sharpened as he sneered back. "You're not worthy to judge," he retorted coldly.

Then, with a subtle gesture, he motioned forward. The three boys stepped in front of Kira, trying to block her path, but she met their gaze with icy indifference. Her aura was so formidable that a deep, instinctive fear washed over them—cold sweat prickled their backs as they instinctively stepped aside.

Watching their retreat, Davies couldn't help but laugh—a dark, triumphant cackle that echoed through the night. He strode past them, his arm lightly brushing Kira's as they headed toward the grand double doors.

Once inside, the boys' faces flushed with embarrassment. They hadn't expected to be so easily intimidated by Kira's presence.

They exchanged glances, swallowing hard, stunned by her commanding aura.

"Did we just step aside for her?" one whispered incredulously, disbelief etched into his face.

Kira paid them no mind. She swaggered inside confidently, Davies at her side. As they moved through the hall, hushed whispers drifted around them.

"Davies brought a partner?"

"Is she his mate?"

"Maybe the rumors are true—he's too emotional to be the future alpha."

Kira caught every word, but she remained unfazed. Davies, standing beside her, clenched his fists, his cheeks flushing with embarrassment.

Kira placed a steady hand on his arm, her voice calm but firm. "If their words mattered, they'd speak them to your face. They're insignificant."

Her words eased Davies's tension. He relaxed, unclenching his fists, and looked to her with renewed confidence.

As they approached the main hall, an older boy stepped out, flanked by a lady, their gaze met.

When he saw Kira and Davies together, a sly smile curled his lips as he mockingly called out, "Little brother."

Davies's eyes sharpened at the taunt. He retorted coldly, "Don't call me that. We're twins, even if we don't look alike. You're not the older one."

Kira raised an eyebrow at the exchange, noting the subtle tension. She could sense Davies's scent growing stronger—his wolf's presence more dominant—no surprise, considering he was favored by their father, the alpha. No one would respect a weak heir.

A flicker of amusement crossed her face as she thought about how easily Davies's emotions could be stirred by his twin.

"Brother," David continued, teasing, "You know very well I'm your older brother. Why make things difficult? Just accept being my little brother. I'll buy you plenty of toys and candies, how about that?"

Davies's expression shifted instantly. His eyes darkened, muscles tensing as his face began to crease with the first signs of transformation. His voice rumbled low and fierce, growling, "Don't call me that, David."

As his control threatened to slip, Kira stepped forward, placing her hand gently on his shoulder. Davies turned to her, and she met his gaze with calm reassurance, giving a small nod and a reassuring smile. In that moment, the anger simmering within him dissipated, and he began to revert to his human form.

David's eyebrows shot up in mock surprise, then twisted into a sneer. "Little brother—now controlled by a woman. Dad'll be so proud to hear this."

Kira's cold glare shot back. "Ignore the idiot. Let's go."

Shocked by her retort, David's face darkened further. Realization of having just been mocked by the girl his brother brought into the pack-house ignited his fury. He completely ignored Kira, muttering under his breath, "Teach your slut how to speak properly."

Kira didn't bother to respond. Instead, she simply turned and said, "Let's go."

Davies walked beside her, their steps steady as they passed David and his entourage. As they moved past, David clenched his fists tightly, unable to believe he'd been ignored—by Davies, and by the girl he'd brought along, a rogue wolf at that.

He sneered quietly to himself, fists still clenched. "He's going to regret this decision later."

Though Davies heard the remark, he remained composed, thanks to Kira's calming presence. With confidence, he led the way into the main hall, Kira at his side, unbothered by the provocation.

As they entered, his father sat upon a throne at the far end of the hall—an imposing figure, the alpha of the pack. The elders of the pack rose and stood side by side, whispering amongst themselves, their faces shadowed with curiosity and suspicion.

He barely stepped inside when his father's voice thundered, filled with fury. "Useless wolf! How dare you bring a rogue into the pack house? You little bastard, do you think that's acceptable?"

Beside him, Davies trembled, sweat streaming down his forehead as he tried to speak. "She is—"

But his father cut him off sharply. "Quiet!"

Rising from his throne, the alpha looked down at Davies and Kira with disdain. His voice dripped with contempt. "You've been nothing but a disgrace from the day you were born. I regret having you as my son..." he began, his words sharp and cutting.

Before he could finish, Kira's voice rang out, fearless and defiant. "What do you know about yourself, weak alpha?"

The hall fell silent in shock at her daring words. The elders exchanged stunned glances, whispers rippling through the crowd. No one expected such audacity from a rogue.

"You sit up there, claiming to be the strongest, yet you can't even produce a stronger heir," Kira continued, her voice unwavering. "What are you without your throne? You're afraid to face your own weakness, afraid to confront the truth—because without the crown, you are nothing but a coward, a weak alpha."
