Belles POV
The office was too quiet that morning. The kind of quiet that made me restless. I had gone through the usual routine coffee, reports, quick meetings with a few department heads but my mind was still stuck on yesterday. Noah showing up in my office like a ghost from the past, begging, pleading, acting like he hadn't been part of the mess that destroyed me. His face, his words, the nerve he had . It was all still circling in my head like a vulture.
And then there was Talia.
The news about her accident hadn't left me either. Every time I closed my eyes, I pictured her lying helpless somewhere. Part of me wanted to laugh at the irony. Part of me wanted to scream because someone had taken away my chance to deal with her myself.
But this morning wasn't about Noah or Talia. It was about something else. Something closer.
Declan.
