Chapter 3 - Love in the Orchard

But Meera's heart was not yet ready to belong to a goddess.

One spring morning, in the blooming apple orchards, she met Arjun, a shepherd from a neighboring valley. His laughter was warm, his hands rough with honest work. He carried his flute everywhere, filling the hills with songs sweeter than the koel's call.

Love, like wild rhododendrons, bloomed quickly. Meera and Arjun stole moments by the orchards, spoke in whispers, and dreamed of a home together — goats grazing on the slopes, children playing in the meadows.

Yet always, when she stood by the river, the whisper returned:

"You are mine. Do not defy me."
