Chapter 69 - Discarded...

Sarah refused to accept the humiliation of being dismissed by a woman who had only arrived the night before.

Rage and disbelief burned through her as she stormed into her room, snatched up her phone, and dialed a familiar number. After a few rings, the call connected.

"Hello, what is the problem?" Emilie's voice floated through the speaker, cold and emotionless.

"Sir… brought in a woman last night," Sarah reported.

There was silence on the other end for a while. "Who is the lady?"

"Emily Winters," she answered truthfully.

"I see," he murmured. "Alright, you do your things as usual and don't bother about it."

"No, Ma'am…" she interrupted immediately.

"Why no? What happened?" Emilie asked suspiciously.

"I… I… she… she…" Sarah stammered, her heart thumping hard in her chest.

"If you don't have anything to say… don't bother me… I don't have all the time to waste… stupid," Emilie fumed.

Sarah paled. "She laid me off?"

"What?"

"Laid you off?"
