Chapter 7 - 007. Despair

Their arrival to their family house was announced to all by their butler, who noticed the family crest on the carriage from the gates.

The twins set down from the carriage and immediately bolted into the house without wasting a second, chanting their mom's name.

Cheryl hesitated for a while before he joined them inside. Everyone stood in the living room, waiting for the grand announcement as they usually did.

The expression of his dad gave it all away, and as usual, they were expecting something bad coming from him.

"Honey, you're back early. How did it go?" Lady Seraphine asked, pulling off her husbands coat from his shoulders.

"Where do I even begin from?," he sighed, taking a seat on one of the living room sofas.

He dipped his hand into his coat and pulled out the enveloped document, handing it over to his wife, Seraphine.

"Here, everything is written down here." He answered, his hands still in the air, waiting for her to collect the document.

She took the document from his hand warily and tore open the envelope before unfolding the document and reading the contents.

She read slowly, the silence in the room causing Cheryl's heart to beat faster and louder. He felt like the ground should just swallow him at that moment and keep him below them.

'God, I wish a miracle would just occur, and everything turns out to be a dream.' He hoped, folding his hands together slightly.

His mothers expression slowly changed as she read more of the document. She glanced at him briefly before staring back at the document in her hand.

Once she was done reading, she dropped to the couch. Staring at the ceiling, she sighed a heavy breath.

His brothers became worried and stared at Cheryl, who stood opposite them, shivering from the fear of what's going to happen.

"Cherylll, what did you do?." Joe asked with a frown on his face.

Before Cheryl could answer, his mom began with her taunts.

"I knew it, I told you we should abort him when he was in my womb, but you said no, now look at it. He has ruined the Bellingham name and dragged it through the mud with his existence. Now, no one will respect us after this," she murmured, tears rolling down her face.

Joe took the document from her hands and read it as quickly as he could. Grasping everything that happened, he turned to Cheryl but couldn't say anything.

He handed the document to Harper for him to read, but Harper refused.

"Tell me yourself, what did he do?." He asked Joe instead.

"He has ruined the family's name. He awakened two E tier abilities despite all the warnings I gave him." Joe sighed, shaking his head before walking out of the room.

Harper stared at Cheryl but couldn't say anything. He was always the quiet time, hardly voicing out his concerns or thoughts.

That's what made Cheryl fear him more than he feared Joe because he never knew what Harper was thinking.

Harper coldly left the room without any words, giving Cheryl one cold glance before his exit.

Cheryl felt even more afraid now. No one was shouting at him or beating him like he had expected.

'Why is everyone reacting this way? Why are they not shouting at me?!' He startled, glancing between his mom and dad.

The twins ran past him, not indulging themselves in the family drama that unfolded.

His dad finally raised his head to him, his cold gaze unwavering, even in the slightest.

"You will attend the academy as per house rules, but you will not bear the Bellingham name during your educational years."

"You will only bear Cheryl as your name throughout your years until you prove something worthwhile your existence."

"And you will stay at the academy, never to set foot on this ground again, even during the holidays." His father commanded, making sure Cheryl heard every single word.

"Tomorrow, you head out for the academy before I wake up. You will start your classes early enough and train three times the average child, every single day at the academy."

"You will only earn the family name once you've become well known in society. Until then, do not associate yourself with us." Arcturus stood up and left the living room.

His mother continued laying on the couch like she had forgotten to breathe. Then, without any words, she sighed, stood up, and left the living room as well.

The only remaining individuals were the twins, still running around the house in their usual manner.

Cheryl stood in the same position for the next twenty minutes, struck by his father's words to him. He was shocked by the words. He still couldn't believe it was his own father that spouted those words from his lips.

The words resounded inside his head over and over, making sure to sink within him.

"No, no, no, no, no!!" He screamed, placing his hand on his head.

"This is wrong. This is wrong." Tears began rolling down his face.

"How could you do this to me dad, no, no. Take it back, take back your words. You can't say those words to me and expect me to accept it!" He shouted at the top of his voice.

"Dad!," he screamed with a hoarse voice.

He stopped abruptly and dried his tears with his hands, staring up the staircase with conviction in his eyes.

"I will make sure you regret everything you said here today, dad. You will beg me to rejoin the family name. I will make sure to rise so high in society and in the academy, you will regret kicking me out of the family. I will carve my name among gods, making sure you regret your words today."

"You will crawl at my feet for forgiveness, I will make you eat your own words, and that's my promise to you." He cleaned the tears that rolled down his cheeks before walking out of the living room to his bedroom.
