Chapter 2 - Chapter two: Arrival of her friends

Their connection breaks when a petite redhead, with a wide smile and innocent, big green eyes, throws herself at Victoria, while screaming her name joyfully.

"Vic!" Cat yells, throwing her small arms around the taller girl's neck.

Victoria's face automatically squeezed as if she had just tasted something foul. The stern-faced young woman hates public show of affection, and worst of all, she hates anyone invading her personal space without any permission, not that the redhead cares.

They have known each other for years, yet the redhead hugs the brunette anytime she sees her, not caring for the frozen glare she receives from her. To the redhead, the brunette is a soft teddy bear. Hard on the outside, but soft on the inside.

Which isn't totally true. The young woman merely tolerates the redhead's shenanigans because, well, put frankly, she can never get mad at the girl. She has the naivety of a virgin and the innocence of a child, which makes it hard to resist her. But that doesn't mean Victoria doesn't try; after all, she has a reputation to maintain, and hugging her childlike acting friend doesn't make her look stern and authoritative.

While making a face, the Princess puts out her hand to hold Cat at bay. "No hugs," she says coldly, acting as if it is the most dreadful act in the universe.

Cat ignores her friend's aversion to her hugs and tries to resist her restraining hands. "But I have missed you, Vi Vi," the redhead whines in a childlike voice, causing the other five teenagers behind her to chuckle. They love seeing the little Cat ruffle their friend's cold exterior.

Knowing that there is no saying no to the redhead, Victoria rolls her eyes and removes her hand, allowing the redhead to hug her, while she stands stiffly in her embrace, a look of discomfort on her face.

"Pay up," Sasha, a tall, dark girl with a model-like frame and the face of a goddess, says, extending her right hand toward the tall, muscular guy beside her.

As they approached their friend, they made a bet to see if the blonde-haired girl would accept the redhead's hug or not.

Victoria always made a show of resisting Cat's affection before she gave in. Denzel, their light-skinned, gorgeous friend, with braids, had bet that Victoria would turn her away, while Sasha, knowing how persuasive those green eyes can be, especially when they stare up at you like a puppy, had bet that Victoria would give in.

She won.

The dark girl smirks smugly as she pockets her twenty, while the rest move forward to reveal their presence, not that the brunette wasn't aware of them.

Victoria, though distracted had picked on the presence of her friends, and knew about the red head's intention even before she hugs her, but knowing how much the red head likes her resisting her before letting her hug her, she acts like she expects, and also, she knows about her other friends bet, and as always, helps her dark friend make some money. Not that any of her friends know this.

Victoria is a very guarded and private individual, and not even her friends know much about her.

"Hi, baby," a tall blonde moves forward to kiss the stiff-faced princess, his kiss a light, flirty touch on the princess's full pink lips, before he steps back to gaze down at her with an adoring smile on his face.

The frostiness of her expression doesn't melt immediately at her boyfriend's action. The white haired girl had to remind herself to act as expected.

"Hi," Victoria replies, returning his smile. A sight that bloomed like the sun, and entranced the pair of brown eyes watching her.

"I have missed you," Blaise says affectionately, a happy glint in his eyes.

"The same," Victoria mutters instinctively, her tone perfunctory, her intense gaze peering into her boyfriend's eyes.

One of the things that gets people uncomfortable around the white haired girl is her piercing gaze and her habit of staring people directly in the eyes.

The brown eyes watching her boldly held the scorching intensity of her stare, while he smiled from one corner of his lips to the other.

A pair of grey eyes watching their interaction hardens, looking annoyed, unaware that another pair of eyes was watching her.

"Careful, doll, or your green monster would roar out of control," a masculine voice warns the blonde mockingly, his tone teasing.

Ariana turns around to glare at the boy before hissing. "I don't know what you are talking about."

"Mm-hmm," Rishi mocks, a sly grin on his face, while he moves the lollipop around his mouth. The boy's smug attitude always gets on his friends' nerves, and this moment isn't any different.

At the moment, Ariana feels like roasting him like a steak for commenting on a sore spot. It is a secret, her crush on Blaise, or so she believed, but the fox beside her has somehow managed to find out and uses every opportunity to tease her about the one thing she craves desperately, but can't have.

It rankles her that her best friend doesn't even appreciate her crush and treats him coldly.

"If you know what is good for you, you would shut up right now, before I make you," Ariana growled, her grey eyes sparkling with a glint of fire in her pupils.

The brown haired boy only smiled harder at her threat, not at all intimidated by her fury.

"Whatever you say, doll," Rishi mocks, before he turns his attention to his other friends and yells.

"Princess, don't tell me, you are only going to greet your boyfriend. What are we? Stones?" Rishi quirks a brow at Victoria, who is now looking in his direction, before moving forward to hug the brunette.

"I swear, I am going to kill him one day," Ariana growls under her breath as Rishi walks off.

"Or fuck him," Sasha adds, her tone part teasing and part serious.

"What!" Ariana looks up at the girl like she has lost her mind.

Sasha rolls her eyes at the blonde's dumbness. "Seriously, girl. Are you blind? The spark between the two of you could burn down a house."

Ariana shakes her head, refusing to acknowledge Sasha's words. Rishi is the last person she would ever be attracted to. The guy is a manwhore who sleeps with anything that walks.

"Hell will freeze over before I fuck that man-child," Ariana snarls with disgust in her voice, before marching forward to join her friends.
