Chapter 5 - 5

Captain America's appearance was like a fuse, igniting the prelude to the era of superheroes.

Spider-Woman and the Fantastic Four were just some of the more well-known ones.

Other superheroes, such as Daredevil, Iron Fist, Ghost Rider, and Blade, also made their debuts one after another.

Since there were superheroes, supervillains naturally also appeared.

Compared to the explosion of superheroes, the number of supervillains is currently relatively small.

The reason is simple: these supervillains not only have to deal with the attacks from superheroes, but also from official forces, and, the schemes of their peers.

Peers are all rivals!

This is even more true in the supervillain business.

To give a simple example, there is only one Earth, but there is more than one supervillain who wants to conquer and destroy it.

So, who gets to conquer and destroy Earth has become a problem that needs to be resolved internally among the supervillains.

"I'll have someone investigate the anonymous call to see if we can find any useful information."

"However, don't you need to explain your behavior from yesterday now?"

Although he already knew Diana's origin, Russell had never revealed it.

Now that he had a perfect opportunity to openly ask Diana how she came to this world, he certainly wouldn't let go of this chance easily.

Hearing Russell's question, Diana put down her knife and fork, and a complex expression appeared on her beautiful face.

After a few seconds of silence, she slowly spoke, "I... am not from this world."

In the following time, Diana did not hide anything and told her origin in detail.

While Diana was confessing her origin, Russell was also comparing it with some information he knew in his mind.

Although he knew Diana was from the adjacent DC world, he didn't know which universe in the adjacent DC world Diana was from.

In terms of the number of parallel universes, Marvel, with its infinite parallel universes, has far more than DC, which only has 52 parallel universes.

But even so, it doesn't mean that the Diana in front of him is the Wonder Woman he knows.

Diana spoke quickly.

In less than ten minutes, Russell had a general understanding of Diana's past life experiences.

In simple terms, Diana's past life experiences were not significantly different from what he remembered.

She grew up on Paradise Island, was brought out by Steve Trevor during World War I, and finally defeated Ares, the culprit who caused World War I.

In 1984, she defeated Cheetah and resolved the "Wish Stone" crisis.

Later, she met Superman and Batman, and the three of them teamed up to defeat Doomsday.

It was here that Diana's life experiences diverged from Russell's memories.

After Superman died, Diana left human society and returned to Paradise Island.

A few years later, after dealing with a demon attempting to invade the human world, she was struck by a red lightning bolt.

When she woke up, she had already crossed over to this world.

Calculating from the time, she crossed over a year earlier than Russell.

After Diana finished speaking, Russell frowned slightly.

Her method of crossing over was a bit cliché!

Seeing Russell frown, a hint of worry appeared on Diana's face.

Although Russell was a metahuman, in her opinion, the fact that she came from another world was still a bit too bizarre for Russell.

She didn't know how Russell would view this matter, and was even a little worried that Russell might choose to distance himself from her because of it.

Don't look at Diana's usual strong female lead appearance, but in the end, she is still a woman, with some of the shared vulnerabilities of women.

Just as she was looking at Russell with a worried expression, Russell's furrowed brow relaxed, and he slowly said, "Well... actually, like you, I'm not from this world either."

Since Diana hadn't hidden the fact that she was from the DC world, Russell simply revealed the fact that he was a transmigrator.

Trust is mutual!

Since Diana had chosen to trust him, he naturally had to reciprocate.

More than two years of living together was enough for him to know what kind of person Diana was.

"You're also from another world?" Diana asked with some disbelief.

"Yes! But the way I came to this world was very different from yours. I wasn't struck by lightning; I slept, and when I woke up, I was here."

Russell said quickly.

This time, it was Diana's turn to frown.

"We need to talk about everything we talked about before, all of it!"

That morning, Russell and Diana didn't go to work and started a game of truth in the apartment.

Russell confessed most things.

Except for the existence of the system and the fact that Marvel and DC were just comics and movies in his original world.

Compared to him, Diana was much more honest.

Diana confessed everything, including her ex-boyfriend Steve Trevor.

Listening to his live-in girlfriend talk about her deceased ex-boyfriend, the feeling was a bit strange.

After the game of truth ended, Russell and Diana, both fellow travelers in a strange land, had an in-depth discussion about the origin of life and the meaning of life.

Noon.

After having lunch at the apartment, they left and drove to their respective workplaces.

Diana's destination was, of course, the American Museum of Natural History, located west of Central Park in New York.

And Russell's destination was the Octopus Monster Detective Agency, located in Hell's Kitchen.

The American Museum of Natural History and Hell's Kitchen are both in Manhattan, and they are not far apart, less than 3 kilometers.

Russell set up his agency in Hell's Kitchen partly because it was close to the museum where Diana worked, making it convenient for him to go find Diana for lunch.

Another reason was that Hell's Kitchen is a well-known Novice Village for transmigrators in the Marvel world.

Although later transmigrators increasingly disliked Hell's Kitchen as a newbie village, Russell still chose it as the starting point for his career.

Of course, his choice of this place as the starting point for his career was also inseparable from the good public order environment of Hell's Kitchen.

As someone who was ostensibly a detective but secretly had several different identities in the underground world, the mixed environment of Hell's Kitchen was more suitable for him to utilize his professional skills.

Octopus Monster Private Detective Agency.

Upon arriving at the agency, which hadn't been open for several days, Russell first opened the windows to ventilate the office, then picked up the various Letter of entrustment stuffed at the door and read through them one by one.

Although the time he had spent as a private detective was not as long as the time he had spent as a killer, he had still made a considerable name for himself in the detective business.

Speaking of this, he had to thank that Japanese elementary school student who came with a death god's aura and where a murder case would happen wherever he went.

Before crossing over, the knowledge he learned from this Japanese elementary school student was useless knowledge that he would never use in his daily life.

But after crossing over to this world, this useless knowledge became one of his skills for making a living.

Because he had established a decent reputation in the detective business, he also established a good cooperative relationship with the New York Police Department and became a consultant for the NYPD.
