Chapter 6: I Think We Picked the Wrong Protagonist
"Look, he could be our protagonist!" Xiao Ying pointed, her tiny hands seeming to aim at a beggar asking for money.
"What do you want to film, a successful romantic drama? We only need the lady and the cook."
It had already been about three hours searching for the protagonist of the much-anticipated movie that was going to be filmed. The funniest part of all was that there could only exist one protagonist per world, unless the world was too big to have more than one.
Apparently, most of them were cultivation worlds. What else could you expect if two out of three novels were just about reincarnators? Life gave them imagination and they ignored it like the biggest plague in the world.
"Land ho!" Xiao Ying's shout surprised me.
She rushed forward like a hunting dog chasing its prey. Shortly after, her tiny figure disappeared into the crowd.
"What am I supposed to do now…? Did I just lose my fairy?"
"Wait for me!"
Although the situation could have put me in the role of a lunatic right now, there was only one choice—follow Xiao Ying, unless I wanted to make this world my new home.
"Look who we have here… giggle… Lu Cheng, look, we found our protagonist. Aren't I great?"
"Lu Cheng?"
Xiao Ying turned everywhere, looking for the person she had dragged away.
There were plenty of people to choose from, but none wearing modern twenty-first century clothes. Well, at least if you could call what he was wearing that.At least he could start a new fashion trend in this world at war.
"There you are, hell fairy!"
Lu Cheng was seen running, passing through a group of people boarding the gigantic Colosusic.
"Excuse me… your mother, just in case." Everyone already knew how English from England sounded; it was worse than trying to speak Portuguese as a Spanish speaker. At least neighbors could understand each other.
"You really took your time… you need to do cardio, otherwise you'll never get a girlfriend."Xiao Ying mocked.
Her wings wouldn't stop flapping in the air, while being ignored by everyone, though her eyes were pointing in one direction.
There, in the middle of it all, a surprised boy seemed to have found a ticket for the Colosusic. His eyes wouldn't stop shining with excitement as he dropped his sketchbook on the floor and ran off.
"I'm going to marry a beautiful rich lady and to hell with art!"
"Wait… that's not how the movie was supposed to go…" The boy's shouts were luckily ignored by the continuous noise of the people.
It felt worse than a Latin American market, but what else could you expect in a world full of wonders?
"Seriously… you brought me to this place, which, out of respect to the author from my past life, I won't say who I saw."Lu Cheng glared at the stinky fairy.
In short, they had already found the protagonist of this world. Now it was time to start filming the movie. But would a movie about a lustful young man trying to seduce a rich lady for money really be a hit?
At least the first one was more romantic… to hell with it, you work with what you've got!
"Let's board that Colosusic, or whatever it's called!"
This was going to turn into a good movie, so no negative thoughts. At least he could upload it to some video website and earn enough to buy a hamburger.
"Sorry to kill your mood… but how do we even get on the Colosusic?" Xiao Ying pointed out the most important detail.
That ticket should cost a kidney, even with a discount. So getting one was impossible right now, and it was doubtful that one would magically fall into my hands… well, it was worth a try.
"Aren't you supposed to be a system? Where's my starter package?"
I tried to ask for my welcome bonus, but Xiao Ying's look already spoiled the ending of this movie, ruining all my initial expectations.
"… cough… cough… that comes with the VIP package. This little fairy will only help you film everything happening within a one-kilometer radius and edit the footage."
In short, an editor working twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, three hundred sixty-four days a year. I liked it, but it didn't solve my problem.
"I don't know… couldn't you just use your invisibility to make a ticket magically fall down?"
"Isn't that stealing?" Xiao Ying tried to appeal to human morality.
"Please, that's not stealing… besides, if everything goes as it should, then we'll be saving his life. It's just a blessing in disguise." I quickly denied.
I didn't have any burden of conscience for what I was asking the innocent fairy who thought she was a system.
After all, I was only doing this to save the poor unfortunate soul from the terrible experience he would go through later. If that doesn't deserve heaven, then may lightning strike me.
"See? The clouds didn't appear. It's selfless kindness." Lu Cheng convinced her again.
Xiao Ying tried to protest, but everything Lu Cheng had said was so convincing that she decided to go along. After all, there wasn't a fairy police around.
"Alright… fine."
She flew away, her small wings fluttering as she disappeared into the crowd.
"Who could possibly have a ticket?" Xiao Ying wondered.
She had been looking for quite some time for a person with tickets to board the Colosusic. Until now, it seemed like everyone had heard the evil plan and they had gone extinct.
"Hmm… what do I do now?" she muttered.
"Brother, careful! You're about to win the tickets!" A shout caught her attention from inside a bar.
"Relax, we're going to win the tickets and then we'll leave with the tickets," said a happy young blond man with a very handsome appearance.
His eyes were filled with longing; he wanted to become a future artist, and for that, he had to go to the cradle of artists. That's why he had to win the Colosusic tickets.
He was about to do it.
"Richard, we're going to make it… you're going to win it all!" his friend shouted with excitement.
The tickets could be smelled inside the filthy bar reeking of alcohol.
"Damn it!"
The old gambler grumbled. "… sigh… the tickets are all yours."
"Wait… what about the tickets?"
"…"
"Look, Lu Cheng, I found the tickets!" Xiao Ying shouted happily.
Her small figure in a blue dress stood out all of a sudden in the middle of the crowd.
When her shrill voice carried two tickets… why two tickets? That was the first thing I wondered.
After all, she was invisible, so there was no reason she should have gotten an extra ticket if only I had to board the Colosusic.
"It took me a lot of effort. I snatched them from two young men who were gambling to win them. Something about going to the land of art to become famous… by the way, the boy was really handsome, if I were a fairy, I'd fall in love with him."
Xiao Ying said dreamily, remembering the delicate features of the boy. He almost looked like the first young man who had boarded the Colosusic, but he had more of a dreamy prince air that all women would fall for.
"Well, don't talk to me about your passing romances," I grumbled.
Couples shouldn't exist. Although, from the description Xiao Ying was giving me, for some reason it gave me a bad premonition deep inside, like stepping on mud and realizing you actually stepped on shit.
"Well, it's time to see how we start with our lovebirds."
I set aside the future problems.
