Yuan Qianjian shook his head and gestured to his attending doctor. "My body… let her explain."
The blonde woman stepped forward, smiling slightly. "It's an honor to meet you, Your Excellency Xu. As you can see, all of President Jianyi's internal organs are deteriorating. He is sustained only by this machinery. I cannot say how long he will last—perhaps a day, perhaps a week."
"I understand, Your Excellency," Xu Fu said, his expression calm. "But I don't believe I came only for a final farewell."
Yuan Qianjian nodded gravely. "Indeed. I invited you here because I have a request… regarding Zhen Lizi."
Xu Fu's expression shifted slightly. "Zhen Lizi? I know her. She was a student at our academy, and her cousin is Yashida, correct? A fine girl."
"Yes," Yuan Qianjian said, relief washing over him at Xu Fu's praise. He liked his granddaughter dearly, even more than his son, Yashida.
Xu Fu leaned forward. "So what exactly do you want me to do for Zhen Lizi?"
"I intend to hand over the former company to her," Yuan Qianjian admitted. "But I fear Yashida will hold a grudge. I need you to protect Zhen Lizi. When the time comes, she will inherit more than half of the shares according to my will. But until then… I need her safe."
"You're asking me to personally guard Zhen Lizi?" Xu Fu asked, studying him carefully.
"Yes," Yuan Qianjian replied firmly. "You have many contacts in the East Dwarf. You are the only one I trust to keep her safe."
Xu Fu nodded. "Understood. I will ensure Zhen Lizi is protected. Your son will not succeed in harming her."
"Thank you, Your Excellency," Yuan Qianjian said, his relief palpable.
"Rest well now, President Jianyi," Xu Fu said, smiling as he left the room.
Nearby, the blonde woman—Ophelia Sargsyan, also known as Viper or Lady Hydra—watched curiously. Her abilities to produce deadly venom were renowned, and her connection to Hydra was obvious from her codename.
"I see now why you arranged this," she said softly. "It makes sense that someone like Xu Fu would be entrusted with Zhen Lizi's protection. Your son, Yashida, may try something foolish otherwise."
"Yes, Viper," Yuan Qianjian nodded. "If I survive, I may be able to rebuild. But even if not, this arrangement ensures the legacy is in safe hands."
Ophelia's lips curved into a faint smile. "I believe you've made the right choice, Your Excellency."
Xu Fu's gaze briefly met hers, calm and confident. "Viper, I will take care of it. You need not worry."
Ophelia's expression turned solemn: This is the time of your burial…
