Chapter 1 - Waking up in Hell

Authors note: This will not be an incredibly dark series by adult standards. I'll try to represent the awful time I've placed my mc into while also keeping the naruto vibe going. I'll try to incorporate comedy as much as possible because I believe it's needed in this series. Thanks, hope you enjoy. If you don't simply don't read.

I'd died. I remember that so clearly. I guess it'd be hard not to remember getting into a major car accident. No, there is only darkness after death. No light and no peace. Only the weight of what's happened staying on your shoulders.

I guess I'd caused this myself. I'd been a soldier. Fighting for my country. However, the higher up I went into the military and the older I became, things started making sense that never did. We didn't fight for anything other than greed and power. For the fear that someone else might find something of significance and we would be behind.

I grew disillusioned quickly and left my post, but the things I'd done still remained. I'd taken life. All of which I thought was righteous until I started gaining rank within the military. I'd drank and tried to block it out but it never went away.

War is hell, that's what I and many of my colleagues came to understand. Very few had the intellectual ability to question things as I did, but perhaps they were trying to keep themselves safe.

I thought about all this in that dark abyss, wondering how long it would be before my mind became mush. Maybe that was the point. To go insane as a punishment for deeds committed.

I slowly but surely felt tired, an odd sensation but I decided to go with it. Slowly but surely I began fading away, unknowingly headed toward my new life. One that for all its beauty, was equally as terrifying as any war I'd been in...…

In a small house on the border of fire country and lightning country, a miracle was taking place. During such a warring time as this, the idea of two clans who'd fought so fiercely against eachother to now unite into a forbidden union was a death sentence. A risk they didn't care about taking.

The young women Laying on the bed was both beautiful and incredibly weak looking. She had hair as white as snow and two distinct red markings on her forehead.

As for the man beside her, he had long straight black hair and an odd symbol on his forehead. An x shaped mark. The most distinctive thing about him however was his eyes. Pure white and pupilless. Around them currently were veins and a bead of sweat on his brow signaling concentration. "It's going to be okay kimi," the man spoke while wiping her head with a wet cloth.

The woman smiled. "I know. I just fear for the child. What if…" but the man, yamoshi cut her off.

"No, we must not allow him to be found by either clan." He then looks over toward the crib in the corner of the room with the small chakra signiture inside of it.

"How can we survive without a clan Yamoshi? It's impossible!" She whispered but still did so loudly. Both to not wake her son and to also get her point across to her husband.

He shook his head. "I don't know. But I must return soon. The clan will expect my mission to be over." He said sadly.

"You expect me to raise retsu alone? Without a clan?"

He makes a calming gesture. "Please calm down. I will help get you and retsu to safety within the land of fire first. I know of a place…" he trailed off.

Kimi Kaguya didn't know what her husband Yamoshi Hyuga had planned, but she knew she'd have to go with it. She'd made her decision to leave her clan long ago. The warmongering ways were not something she would pass onto Retsu. While fighting may be necessary, not caring about whether your family lived or died was another completely.

Finally she sighed, "then tell me your plan."

And thus began the story of Retsu Hyuga Kaguya, a man whose name would echo for generations to come.

10 years later

On the border of the Nara/Senju/Uchiha territory

A young boy with bone white hair and equally pale white pupilless eyes made his way through the Forrest near his home. Using chakra enhanced leaps he jumped from branch to branch. 5 years ago his father had died while taking him on a trip to train. A clan had a patrol out that recognized my father, after telling me to run he stayed and fought.

The same day my mother died as well. The clan had followed me back. Again, she told me to run. To survive. That was the day I found out how different I was. It was also the day I recognized the world I'd been born into.

My fathers eyes were like that because he was a Hyuga. My mothers bones did that because she was a kaguya. They'd never told me their family history. The only thing I had of them were a scroll apiece. Both with techniques they used.

My mothers was a Kinjutsu she used in combination with her bone manipulation ability while my father was a second son to the clan head, meaning he was able to watch and observe the main family techniques and replicate them.

These two scrolls gave me the foundation by which I would build myself up into a strong fortress. I needed to be. For I'd woken up in the warring clan era of naruto. Where children younger than me went into battles and died.

War is hell, and I was smack dab in the middle of it...…

Arriving home

Getting home after a day of lightning style practice, I finally began to feel like I was close. I'd done so so many leaf exercises to find out my chakra nature it was insane. Finally I found the lightning element about 4 months ago.

After I could crinkle a leaf on instinct I began trying to put sparks between my fingers. That is where I'd gotten to today. I bring my hand up to see sparks dancing wildly all across my fingers, a striking white lightning.

As for my progress in the byakugan, it's adequate. I'd say my range is around 45-50m. The gentle fist my father taught me work's incredibly well with my ability to control my bones. I'd already had a run in with a rogue shinobi here or there. Thankfully no groups.

I may be biased. But from what I've gathered personally, the Shikotsumyaku on the end of a gentlfist strike is incredibly effective. It allows me not only to cease chakra flow, but to cut the network All together. Just one strike from me can kill a full grown man, especially if I can catch them by surprise.

That's another thing I'd worked on as soon as I understood lightning was my element. I began trying to run lightning chakra through my body, helping my muscles become more fast twitch, Minato namekaze is a prime example of the fastest usually wins.

While I had no idea about sealing jutsu, I decided I could at least use some of his principles by getting my body flicker to no hand signs as well as usuing his signature jutsu, the rasengan.

Being of the lineage I am, perhaps the only two with more chakra than me at my age are the two reincarnated sons of the sage of six paths. The kaguya and Hyuga are a mirror to the senju/uzumaki and the uchiha.

If I remember right, didn't hamura's descendants split. One on the moon and two in the world? The kaguya are the Yang side of hamura while the Hyuga are the yin. Being gifted with both was unexpected when it happened, but after coming to terms with it as well as my parents deaths, I began to train as if my life depended on it. Because it did.

With that I went inside and put the fish I'd caught earlier into the stew brewing in the middle of the room in a large black pot. Not the best tasting food, but anything is better than a cold MRE.

I'd decided to go further north. Toward my fathers home the land of lightning. I wouldn't go all the way there, just further north. It felt like a pull was taking me there. I'd learned to trust that feeling in my last life and this one, so I packed clothes and planned to set out tomorrow.

2 months later

As I was about to cross a river, I heard two voices nearby. Quickly making my way up the tree to a branch I saw a scene that felt so familiar but so wrong as well.

On either side of the river was a young girl about my own age. On the right was a girl with wild black hair and equally scary looking eyes. She was intense in a way I'd never seen before.

Across from her on the left side of the river is a girl with striking brown hair and brown eyes. She looked kind but intense in a different way than her counter part. This scene felt like I should know what was happening but I couldn't place it.

Taking a small step forward the bark of the tree I was standing on crumbled and fell to the edge of the riverbank. While not a loud sound in the quiet intensity of the clearing it sounded like war drums.

Both girls heads snapped toward my now blindfolded eyes. I learned long ago to hide my eyes when I went out. This world was full of people who'd snatch them out of a kid no problem.

While I didn't agree with the clans solution to this, keeping the dojutsu of the family away from interlopers was an admiral quality. Without the seal, I was free to do as I wished. But I was also free to lose my eyes should I get reckless.

The spiky haired girl called out with a stone in her hand, poised to throw it. "Come down here." I casually jumped into the water without making a ripple, knowing exactly what went through both their minds at such an action. 'He's a shinobi.'

I slowly bring my hands up in surrender, "hello. I'm Retsu." I say keeping my surname out. I honestly didn't know which one I'd even go by.

The girl on the left speaks with a smile. "I'm am hashirama."

The girl on the right replied. "And I am madara."

My heart sank at those introductions. I knew then I did wake up in hell. I'd just jumped in the middle of a centuries long rivalry. One that always turned deadly.
