Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

After Rias had left, Tetsuya had decided to continue his training. Wanting to test more things out and not wanting his neighbors, possibly randomly seeing him play with magic, and to prevent himself from accidentally causing damage to his house, he decided to find a more secluded place to train.

So he went out and walked around, wondering what would be a suitable place at this time of night. He knows that it's dangerous, but what can he really do? It's not like he has any real connections that he could just go up to and say, "Hey, do you know anywhere I can train my randomly obtained powers?" That would be exposing himself openly.

He kept walking until he eventually found a secluded park with nobody conveniently around. "Yeah, totally, this place doesn't raise any red flags," Tetsuya said to himself and sighed. Not like he has many choices for now. Instead, he focused.

Tetsuya channeled his ice once more, swaying his hand from left to right, creating a stream that blew away a tree nearby. Then he decided to work on his projectiles, creating 3 mini spears and sent them into another nearby tree, piercing straight through it.

Tetsuya nodded, "Not bad, improving already, let's see how far I can push myself." He then trained for about thirty minutes, trying different things out and testing his new physique. Enjoying the newfound sensations thanks to the 100% boost from his conversation with Rias earlier, he felt a lot stronger. His strength, reflexes, speed, and senses were all much sharper.

Eventually, though, he felt a chill run down his spine like he was being watched. Being alert, Tetsuya started to look around, not seeing anything, but kept his guard up, deciding to trust his gut that something was wrong.

"Knew I was walking into a damn red flag," Tetsuya muttered under his breath.

The corner of his eye caught a streak of light cutting through the dark like a lance. His body moved just barely before it struck him, diving aside as a spear of light shattered the ground where he'd just stood.

"Not bad," came a low, mocking voice. A figure emerged from the darkness, a middle age looking man in a gray trench coat and fedora, eyes gleaming with cruelty. "Didn't expect a filthy human to dodge." He tilted his head, lips curling into a sneer. "Let's see if you can do it again."

His hand flared, summoning more spears of light. They flew at Tetsuya almost faster then he could blink. But his body and urge to survive reacted for him.

With a sharp inhale, Tetsuya slammed his palm into the ground, frost erupting upward. A wall of jagged ice burst forth, spears cracking against it in dazzling sparks of light. The impact rattled his bones.

"Damnit… he's faster than me," Tetsuya growled, sweat and frost mixing on his skin.

The man Tetsuya, recognized him as Dohnaseek, one of Raynare's lackeys a damned fallen angel. Just his luck, he saw him let out a cold laugh. "You're a bigger threat than I thought, human. I'll end this quickly."

Black wings unfurled, stretching wide as Dohnaseek took to the sky. From above, he conjured a storm of light spears and hurled them in a relentless barrage.

Trusting his walls wouldn't hold, Tetsuya rolled aside, ice crystallizing around his fingers as he willed them into a new form. A bow of frozen blue light solidified in his hands, cool yet weightless. It felt natural—instinctive, like an old friend.

Drawing back, he unleashed a volley of ice arrows, the air whistling with their speed.

Dohnaseek barely flinched. He dipped and weaved through the barrage, wings cutting the air with vicious precision. "Child's play!" he barked, spiraling downward like a bullet. A fresh spear glimmered in his hand, aimed for Tetsuya's heart.

Tetsuya twisted, the spear grazing his arm. Agony seared through his flesh, heat burning deeper than fire. He hissed, clutching his arm. "Shit… that hurt…"

Dohnaseek's grin widened, sadistic satisfaction dancing across his face. "Getting tired already, trash?"

Before Tetsuya could brace himself, a boot slammed into his chest. The world blurred as he was hurled across the park like a ragdoll. His body cracked against a trunk, bark splintering, and he collapsed to the ground. Blood trickled warm down his temple, the world spinning.

He felt as his vision blurred, yet he fought to stay awake. The bow remained in his hand, ice humming as he fought to maintain it. Gritting his teeth, he forced himself upright. His body screamed to quit, but he wasn't ready to die, not to some damn fodder fallen angel.

Tetsuya's legs shook as he pushed himself up, using one hand to hold onto the tree. Every breath scraped against his ribs, every heartbeat felt like a hammer against the wound on his arm. The ice bow in his grip trembled, threatening to shatter as his concentration faltered.

"So this is the difference between me and the supernatural. With my current body.. I'm not even stronger than a low-rank fallen angel, even with my skills." Tetsuya thought to himself

Dohnaseek hovered above him, wings casting long shadows over the ruined park. "Pathetic. You shouldn't even be standing." He swooped down, landing with a crack that sent a ripple of pressure through the ground. His killing intent pressed down like a storm, suffocating and cold, not from Tetsuya's almost giving Tetsuya chills.

Tetsuya gritted his teeth, forcing his frozen weapon to shift. The bow unraveled into jagged shards, then reformed into a sword—its blade sharp, crystalline, faint mist curling from its edge. He adjusted his stance, letting his trait guide him, legs forcing themself to be steady as his eyes glinted with determination.

Dohnaseek smirked. "A sword? Cute. Let's see how long that keeps you alive ."

He lunged. The speed was unreal—before Tetsuya could blink, a fist was already driving toward his chest. He barely managed to bring the blade up in time. Steel-hard knuckles crashed against ice, the impact rattling his bones and sending shockwaves up his arm. His knees buckled, feet sliding trenches into the dirt as he fought not to collapse outright. But his blade held up even if just barely

"Stronger than I thought," Dohnaseek sneered, pressing forward, grinding the edge down with raw strength. "But strength isn't your gift, is it, boy? Your weak human body holds you back."

With a sudden twist, he slammed a knee into Tetsuya's ribs. White-hot pain exploded through him, the ice sword flickering as his grip faltered. He staggered back, coughing up blood, his breath clouding the air in shaky bursts.

"He's too strong… way stronger than me as I am now. I feel pathetic.. weak.", Tetsuya realized, vision blurring. His own frost whispered at the edge of his mind, urging him to push it further, to let the frost consume everything.

But another punch was already incoming. Tetsuya barely twisted his blade to deflect, sparks and frost scattering as ice clashed with light. His arms screamed, his body shuddering under the weight of every blow. He wasn't winning; he was just surviving his instincts, constantly screaming in alarm. Yet he didn't back down this was his first fight. And he'll be damned if he loses so early.

Dohnaseek's blows came down like hammers, each one rattling Tetsuya's bones. The ice sword shook in his grip, chips of frost scattering with every clash. His body screamed to give up, yet something in his mind kept him moving.

The fallen angel sneered, driving a kick into Tetsuya's chest. He skidded back across torn grass, shoes digging trenches until he slammed to a stop. His breath came ragged, blood mixing with frost on his lips.

"I can't beat him head-on on but maybe I don't have to. All I have to do is be smart about this." Tetsuya said to himself as he composed himself

His grip tightened. The ice sword pulsed with Icy intent as Tetsuya forced more power into it, the blade widening with jagged edges. Frost spread across the ground, crawling outward in veins, turning the earth into a frozen battlefield. He pulled it off, but he felt his mana reserves get close to empty.

Dohnaseek noticed, eyes narrowing. "Trying to buy time? Pathetic trick. You forget, unlike you I have wings!"

He launched forward, wings snapping open as he conjured another spear. Tetsuya braced, then feinted swinging his sword wide. Ice erupted from the ground in a jagged spike, forcing Dohnaseek to dodge mid-flight.

Another spike followed. Then another. And another. A forest of ice spears burst upward, hemming the fallen angel in tighter and tighter.

Dohnaseek snarled, smashing through one with brute force. "What the hell is this? It doesn't matter, this won't save you!"

"That's the point," Tetsuya rasped, eyes burning with frost. "It's not meant to save me. I'll drag you to hell with me."

With a sharp motion, he slammed the blade into the ground. The spikes converged, freezing together, locking around Dohnaseek's legs mid-dodge. The fallen angel growled, pissed, tearing at the ice, but every movement only let more ice snake around him, climbing higher until it stopped him completely.

His goal to win lent Tetsuya strength. He used the last of his mana to reform the sword into a lance of pure ice, jagged and gleaming, then charged.

Dohnaseek ripped one arm free, a spear forming in his hand. "You'll die first, you filthy human!"

Their weapons collided. For an instant, light and frost clashed violently—then the ice lance broke through, driving straight into Dohnaseek's heart while Dohnaseek's spear simultaneously drilled into Tetsuya's chest.

Dohnaseek's scream echoed across the park, wings thrashing before the ice spread deeper, freezing his body from the inside. The fallen angel's form cracked, then burst into shards of frost and fading light as fallen angel feathers were all that was left behind.

Tetsuya dropped to his knees, bleeding out, gasping, the ice dissolving into mist around him. His whole body trembled in agony, muscles screaming, vision blurring. He won, and that made him satisfied. His only regret was that it seemed that his journey might end this early.

He fell back, his vision going dark, all that he heard were the voices of females arriving, shouting his name in concern, and then his vision went fully black as he lost consciousness.
