"Doctor! Doctor!" I heard yelling as soon as I opened my eyes.How am I alive? I am supposed to be dead?I should be dead!
Nothing in my life has ever gone well.Even unaliving myself didn't work for me.I heard running footsteps a few doctors gathered around my bed.I am indeed in a hospital.The doctor flashed a light at my eyeballs and I instinctively squinted.
"Omo! She just responded to external stimuli" one of the doctor spoke and I looked at him not having the strength to glare.They seemed happy that I am alive.I wasn't.
"Mi Yeonshii are you okay?" Another doctor asked. "Mi yeon?" I questioned
"Mi yeon na, it's mom do you recognize me?" A middle-aged woman pushed the doctors aside and stood in my line of vision holding my hand and crying.
"My mother is dead.I don't have a mother and my name is Yu na.Park Yu na" I said,why were they confusing me with someone else? I had never seen this woman before.
"You do have a mother and she is right here mi yeon na" the woman said with more tears running down her face. "Ahjuma! You are mistaking me for someone else."
I looked at the doctors. "Who brought me here?"
"You were brought in two months ago by your friends.You fell off a cliff do you remember that?"
"Doctor! Don't make her recall such a painful memory" the woman who claimed to be my mother shouted at the doctor. "Ma'am,this is all part of the examination.We need to be sure wether or not she lost her memory" the one who seemed like the head spoke. "What is your name miss?" He asked and I replied "Yu na.Park Yu na"
"How old are you?" "22"
"Where do you live?"
"No 23 Apgujeong dong"
"What college do you go to?"
"I don't go to college" I replied correctly to all the questions.The doctor adjusted his glasses over his nose rigde as he glanced at a file. "You are indeed 22 years of age and you do live in Apgujeong however,Your house number is 22 not 23 and your name isn't Park Yu na but Kim Mi yeon."
"Kim Mi yeon....that name rings a bell but it's not mine."
"Do you recognize this woman?" He gestured at the woman standing beside my bed. "She's your mom?"
"Why do you keep pushing it?I said she is not my mom!" I was getting upset
"No need to be upset miss,we are just ask---"
I sat up on the bed much to their surprise."Can I get discharged now?" I pulled out the IV needles and tubes that were glued to my body. "Andwae! Mi yeonna!!" The woman screamed as I stood on my feet.The doctors rushed to hold me.My head was spinning all of a sudden.I was seeing images, memories that I have never seen before.I held my head with my two hands that is when I discovered that I had acrylic manicure nails.I hated them. There's no way I would have fixed them on.My body felt unfamiliar.I wasn't so short.I was a tall girl but now I seemed small compared to everyone else.There was a phone on top of the humidifier shelf.Grabbing it I looked at my face on the dark mirror screen and saw a whole new face staring at me.I tried to open the phone but it kept saying wrong pattern.The phone,it seemed similar but it wasn't mine either.
"Whose phone is this?"
"It's yours" the woman answered.It was a face recognition password.I tried and it worked! I didn't dwell on that as I went straight to camera.That was when I realized,I wasn't myself.
