Chapter 62 - The Day Needed To End

Yin's POV

I stepped back into the library and immediately knew something was wrong. The way mother kept smiling and the way Irene stood by the window with her arms wrapped around herself, and she wouldn't look at me. Her whole body was tense, like she was bracing for another hit.

"I'll take my leave now," Mother said before walking out the door.

"Irene?" She flinched which was very much unusual because that wasn't something that normally happened.

What the hell happened while I was gone?

I moved closer, and that's when I saw her trying to hide her left wrist behind her back. The movement was subtle but I caught it anyway.

"Let me see."

"It's nothing." She hid hrr hand behind her back and turned to face me. "How was your day?"

"Don't try to change the topic." I moved closer. " If its nothing then you won't mind showing me." I reached for her hand, gentle but insistent.
