Chapter 54 - Chapter 54: A Promise Beyond Death

The desert lay silent, scarred and littered with bone and blood. The Berserk Commander's body rested in the sand, a testament to the ferocity of their battle. Kairo stood above him, chains coiled at his sides, the Bone Blade humming faintly, resonating with the final echoes of the fallen.

Kairo's crimson eyes softened, just slightly, as he looked down at the broken form of his opponent. Though fearsome and ruthless, the Berserk Commander had been a soul shaped by torment — a victim of Hades' cruelty, a reflection of the pain that had forged Kairo himself.

He knelt, letting one chain rest gently on the Commander's chest. The aura of death receded, leaving only a quiet reverence in the desert air.

"I hope… you find nirvana," Kairo murmured, voice low, carrying both respect and sorrow. "Your suffering ends here. I will not waste it. I will… make sure Hades pays for all he's done."

The Berserk Commander's eyes, dim now, seemed to shimmer with a fleeting recognition, a silent acknowledgment of Kairo's words. The red glow of his aura faded entirely, and the desert held its breath as Kairo's chains wrapped gently around his form, releasing him fully to rest.

Kairo stood slowly, chains rattling softly, the Bone Blade gleaming in his hand. His voice carried across the ruins of the battlefield, steady and resolute:

"Hades… I will find you. And when I do… I will make you pay for every life you've broken."

The wind carried his promise through the desolate dunes, a vow written in crimson and shadow. The Berserk Commander was gone, but his legacy had strengthened Kairo, sharpened his resolve, and left an unspoken bond — respect between warriors, even in death.

The desert remained silent, save for the faint rattle of chains and the hum of the Bone Blade, as Kairo turned toward the horizon. One chapter had closed. Another — far darker and more dangerous — was yet to come.
