Chapter 3 - Legendary Class

Moon paused for a moment, trying to figure out how to check his class.

He muttered a few words into the air—"Class," "Check," "Info" — but nothing happened. Finally, he said, "Status," and with a soft ding, a translucent blue window appeared before his eyes, floating mid-air.

"Legendary?!" Moon stared wide-eyed at the screen.

His breath caught for a moment as the word burned in his mind — Legendary. That was the highest possible rarity in the game. Most players would never even see someone with a Legendary class, let alone get one themselves.

He had expected to get the worst class — maybe even hoped for it. That way, Lucas might finally stop pestering him to play. But this? This felt like fate playing a trick on him.

"One of the few times I actually get lucky," he thought, stunned.

Then another word jumped out at him.

"Assassin?"

Lucas had mentioned Warriors, Mages, Clerics—even Archers. But Assassin? That had never come up. It sounded rare, even without the Legendary tag.

Curious, Moon focused on each item, prompting the system to explain.

[ Class: ]

A profession assigned at random upon first login. Determines your combat style, available gear, skill growth, and game path.

[ Class Traits: ]

— [ Lone Wolf: ] Increased EXP when not in a party.

— [ Sanguine Blessing: ] Killing a Player rewards you with 100% of their Goldcoins.

[ Level: ]

[ Talent: Sword Mastery (SSS-Rank) ]

[ Physical & Magical Damage: ]

Physical Damage = Strength | Magical Damage = Intelligence.

[ HP & MP: ]

HP = Vitality × 10 | MP = Intelligence × 10

"Sword Mastery, SSS-rank? This… this is good, right?" he muttered.

Moon stood motionless, staring at the status screen. A Legendary Assassin class. An SSS-rank talent. And he hadn't even swung his weapon in combat yet.

"Is this where all my luck has always been hiding?" he whispered, blinking at the stats. "Surely this is better than a Healer or a Tank, Lucas had mentioned…"

He exhaled sharply, then shifted his focus back to the traits. One, in particular, caught his eye—Sanguine Blessing.

He narrowed his eyes, opening the tooltip again. The words glowed faintly.

[ Sanguine Blessing: ] Killing a Player rewards you with 100% of their Goldcoins.

His lips parted slightly.

"Wait... what?!"

From what Moon recalled, normally, when you killed another player, you received 10% of their total Goldcoins. A small but tempting reward—enough to lure predators to target weaker players, especially new ones. It was one of the dark sides of the game.

Dying wasn't just a slap on the wrist either. If someone killed you, you lost everything—items, class, progress—the whole account was wiped clean.

A complete reset.

And to make things worse, you were locked out of the game for three months. Most players saw it as the ultimate punishment. A virtual death sentence.

That's why killing other players was seen as taboo by most of the community.

Of course, that didn't stop the ambitious or the cruel. In fact, most of the Top 100 players in the global rankings had red names—a mark that appeared after you killed five players. It came with a bounty system. If someone killed a red-named player, they could claim the bounty on their head—though most wouldn't dare to try.

Most red-named players were monsters—powerful beyond belief. Trying to claim their bounty was a suicide.

But Moon… knew none of this.

All he saw was a perk that gave him 100% of a player's Goldcoins upon a kill. Not ten per cent that he recalled from his conversations with Lucas. All of it.

"Does that mean... I could actually make money just by killing people?" A question bloomed in his mind.

It was a dangerous thought. One that tickled a part of him he didn't know existed. But before he could fall down that mental rabbit hole, a soft ding echoed in the air, and a notification appeared in front of him.

[ New Quest! ]

A letter-shaped icon floated at eye level. Moon focused on it, and it expanded smoothly.

[ Quest: ]

Slay 5x Direwolf

[ Rewards: ]

— 10 Goldcoins

— +1 Attribute Point

— 50 EXP

[ Accept Quest? ]

[ Yes ] [ No ]

He answered without a delay, "Yes."

[ New Location Added to Your Map. ]

"Map?" he echoed instinctively.

A large rectangular interface appeared, replacing the quest window. Most of it was dark, as if covered in fog. Only a small circular area was visible—centered on an icon labelled Player447.

Several meters away from him, a glowing blue ring appeared on the map, pulsing gently with the tag that said: Quest Area.

Then, as if syncing with the map, the game world itself shifted. A faint blue circle shimmered into existence on the ground not far from where he stood, marking the location with an ethereal glow.

He glanced between the real world and the map, then rested his hand on the hilt of his Common Sword.

"So… I guess this is it. First quest."

A faint smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.

He took a step forward, then another. The leaves crunched underfoot as he walked toward the location of his quest, unaware that he was about to start a journey that would change everything.
