Chapter 5 - The DNA Report

Richard Holland and Rosette were heading home by car. It was her first time riding in such an amazing car, and she felt happy to be adopted. Her days in the orphanage hadn't been good.

As she stepped out of the car, she saw a huge mansion. Butler and maids were coming out to welcome them. The secretary introduced her to the butler, saying, "She is the new miss master has adopted." Richard strode inside the house without looking back, but that didn't affect the treatment Rosette received. After she entered, the maid started taking care of her, showing her to her room, offering her new jewelry, toys, and clothes.

While preparing for her bath, Rosette realized she had forgotten to give Riley the necklace. A pang of jealousy hit her; the necklace, a gift from Riley's parents, was something irreplaceable—something she could never have. It felt like a reminder of the life Riley had, one Rosette couldn't quite reach. But she quickly shook off the feeling. The new jewelry she was being offered was more beautiful, and now, with her new family, she had everything she could ever want. Yet, despite the overwhelming sense of change in her life, Rosette knew she couldn't keep the necklace. It belonged to Riley, and no matter how much she'd gained, she understood that returning it was the right thing to do. When the time came, she would go back to Riley and give it to her.

Rosette got ready and went downstairs to have dinner, but Mr. Richard was not there. She asked the butler, who informed her, "Master is working and will have dinner with you." Seeing her facial expression, the butler added, "He usually prefers to dine alone, but he specifically asked me to take care of your preferences."

She wondered," Don't all parents have dinner with their kids?" But seeing her adopted father being attentive toward her, she began her meal.

Inside his office, Richard was sitting in his chair with papers in front of him. One of the paper had the name "DNA REPORT" on it. Richard took long puffs from his cigar, the fine wrinkles and dark circles under his eyes reflecting his worries and sleepless nights.
