Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The Birdcage

[Robin accepted the thick gift, blinking her eyes that were as clear as sapphires. At fourteen, the young girl already had a blossoming grace, with fair skin and soft, silver hair. Dressed in a simple white dress, she looked exceptionally pure and lovely.

She looked at the document's cover, stunned for a moment, before letting out a soft laugh.

"Brother, this gift... is so typically you," she said with a teasing but gentle reproach, showing no signs of displeasure. Instead, she carefully hugged the document to her chest as if it were a precious treasure.

"But, thank you. I know you must have put a lot of thought into this."

"I'll... um, take it under advisement!"

"It is not for advisement," you corrected her. "It is the optimal solution."

Seeing your sister's bright smile, the strings of your heart, usually taut from constant thought and calculation, seemed to relax a little. To you, planning everything for her, ensuring she walked the most correct and efficient path, was the greatest form of protection and love. This was the proper order for a family.

"Alright, alright, I know my big brother is the best," Robin said, placing the document solemnly on the table. Then, she took your hand. "Now, it's my turn to give you a gift! Come with me!"

You were pulled by her into the adjacent music room. Robin gestured for you to sit down. She took a deep breath and sat before the piano.

"This piece... doesn't have a name yet," she began, her voice tinged with nervousness as her fingertips lightly touched the keys. "But when I play it, I'm thinking of you, Brother."

"Happy birthday, Brother."

The music began.

The melody was beyond your expectations. It didn't perfectly align with what you'd consider an "optimal" structure, yet it possessed a strange power that struck directly at the heart.

You listened in silence. For the first time, you didn't subconsciously analyze its structure and technique. The music was like a mirror, reflecting corners of your own heart that you had never fully explored. It seemed... there was more than just cold order there.

The piece ended, its melody lingering in the air. Robin looked back at you, a hint of apprehension on her face, her pale cheeks slightly flushed. "How was it, Brother?"

You remained silent for a moment. Then you stood, walked to her side, and gently pressed your hand on the keys she had just played, feeling their residual warmth.

"The structure is bold," you said. "But its logic is self-consistent, forming a unique harmony."

"It's beautiful," you added, an objective evaluation.

"I love it. Thank you for the gift, Robin." This sentence, however, seemed to carry a different kind of emotion.

"I'm glad you love it, Brother." Robin smiled brightly. This was the best approval she could have received.]

[15 years old, your status within The Family rises steadily.]

[For the sake of her musical dream, your sister begins to leave Penacony, traveling to other planets for musical activities.]

[You maintain contact through letters and communication devices.]

[In your replies, you always urge her to come back and visit you more often, reminding her that Penacony is the safest place.]

[16 years old, Gopher Wood's power reaches its zenith.]

[You are seen within The Family as his future successor, which is all part of your plan.]

[Your sister Robin's fame skyrockets abroad, and she becomes a rising star.]

[17 years old, Robin's voice spreads to even more star systems.]

[But her success only deepens your worries about the chaotic and disordered world outside Penacony.]

[Unlike The Family's dreamscape, there is no Order to ensure her safety out there. This lack of control displeases you.]

[18 years old, the year you officially come of age.]

[Gopher Wood, now the Dream Master of Penacony, transfers the position of Head of the Oak Family to you in the presence of all its members.]

[You stand on high, looking down at the family members.]

[From this day forward, as Sunday, Head of the Oak Family, you will use the absolute Order you believe in to reshape this "Planet of Festivities."]

[Not for The Family, but for... Robin.]

[19 years old, after taking over as Head, you are drowned in a tide of complex affairs, working more than 12 hours a day. You never complain, as this is your responsibility.]

[However, an urgent letter from Epsilon instantly makes you drop everything.]

[The letter's content is glaringly brief.]

[Your sister, Robin, has met with an accident.]

[Wounded by a gunshot to the neck!]

[Although the letter mentions her life is not in danger, the words "vocal cords damaged, may never be able to sing again" fill you with unbearable worry.]

[You immediately use your authority as Head, mobilizing all resources at any cost, solely to ensure your sister can return to Penacony in the fastest and safest way possible.]

[A few days later, in a private reception room of the Oak Family. The door opens. You see your sister, weary from her journey. She looks exhausted, her face much paler than you remember, but she still tries to maintain the elegant demeanor befitting the sister of the Oak Family's Head. She wears high-collared clothing, carefully concealing something. But your eyes immediately catch the faint outline of a wound at the edge of her collar.]

["I'm fine, Brother. I'm sorry for making you worry," Robin says with a weak smile. "It was just a small accident. I'll be better soon."]

[But your gaze is fixed on her neck. That scar, even through the clothes and bandages, burns your nerves. An indescribable emotion explodes in your chest! It is a towering inferno of rage. It is the chilling fear of what could have been. And it is a cold, powerless sense of defeat, even as the Head of the Family!]

[Reality had dealt you a harsh slap in the face! The Harmony could not protect her! This chaotic universe could not protect her!]

[Sensing your silence and your stare, Robin tries to reassure you: "You really don't have to worry, Brother. I was too careless this time. I'll be more careful next time."]

[Next time?]

[The words pierce your mind like sharp needles. You are horrified. There could be a next time?! Let her leave Penacony again? Let her go back to those barbaric lands filled with chaos and the unknown? Let her face the danger that could steal her voice, or even her life, again?!]

[No! Absolutely not!!]

[At this moment, you begin to ponder how to ensure your sister's absolute safety—]

[1. Trust and support Robin's choices, using your power as Head to provide her with the best security imaginable.]

[2. Keep Robin in Penacony, restricting her from leaving under the guise of protection.]

Jiang Mo thought it over. Even though he knew Robin would be fine in the game's plot... if he let her go, she would later help the protagonists beat him down. He couldn't let this simulation follow the game's script. 'I don't want my own sister and her friends to run me over with the Astral Express! That would ruin our sibling relationship!'

'What? A sis-con?'

'So what if I'm a sis-con? I AM a sis-con! It has to be 2!'

[You chose to "protect" her in Penacony. Villain Points +50.]

[In that instant, a thought forms with absolute clarity in your mind—]

[You must ensure your sister's absolute safety.]

[Forever.]

[You take a deep breath, a gentle smile returning to your face. "All that matters is that you're back safely, Robin." You take a step forward, gently holding her shoulders as if she were made of fragile glass. "The outside world is too dangerous. You should rest and recover here in Penacony. The Family will provide you with the best treatment. As for going out... we can talk about that later." You gaze at her, your voice infinitely gentle, but the depths of your eyes gleam with a near-fanatical determination.]

["With me here, I will never let you face any danger again."]

[From this moment, you secretly resolve...]

[To forge Penacony into an absolutely safe "birdcage."]

[Impregnable, sheltering it from all storms.]

[And your most cherished Robin would sing forever under the protection of your wings, safely.]

[For you, and for your Order, alone.]
