Chapter 180 - Chapter 181: Spider Gathering, Operation Begins!

Chapter 181: Spider Gathering, Operation Begins!

Parallel universe.

Spider-Man's secret underground base.

"You're here."

Peter Parker, already suited up in an advanced Spider-suit, lifted his gaze toward the boy and girl stepping out of the descending levitation elevator.

"Is everything ready?" Xi Nian got straight to the point.

"Follow me!"

Spider-Man led the two into the intel room. On one wall hung a detailed map of Brooklyn, New York.

"After half a day of investigation, I found out that Kingpin built a secret base here—inside an abandoned subway station." Spider-Man flicked a strand of web, shooting out a coin-sized marker that stuck to the map.

"And I've confirmed it."

Peter's unmasked face was grim. "Kingpin's been preparing a massive plan: constructing a gigantic energy collision device. By siphoning the energy of the entire Brooklyn district, he plans to generate two massive colliding energy flows. That collision could tear open a path to parallel universes—allowing him to resurrect his long-dead wife!"

"His plan will likely be carried out within a day or two."

"So, you're saying the reason we were thrown into this parallel world is because of what they're building?" Gwen asked in shock.

Xi Nian's eyes deepened with thought.

He knew that energy, pushed to a certain extreme, could break through space—and even affect dimensions.

Not only had the Ancient One explained this before.

Back when Xi Nian held the Trinity Mode (Apocalypse's Wisdom, Kryptonian Physique, Demigod Power, and Spider Gene Fusion), he had once thrown a punch that nearly shattered through dimensions.

"There's no doubt."

Spider-Man nodded firmly, pulling out a USB device. "This contains a self-destruct virus. If we can break into Kingpin's base and plug this into their central computer, it'll wipe their data and destroy their equipment."

"Then what are we waiting for? We storm the place together—anyone who blocks us dies!" Xi Nian's eyes flashed cold.

"I'm in." Gwen smiled faintly, as if she had no idea how terrifying the thing she just agreed to was.

Looking at the two kids who were even more reckless and dangerous than himself, Spider-Man sighed internally and gave a silent prayer for Kingpin, his old nemesis. He then pulled a stack of photos from a drawer and warned, "Kingpin isn't the only enemy. He's recruited a number of supervillains. These are their profiles—take a look."

"Hm? This is…"

Xi Nian picked up one photo. The mechanical tentacles in the image were strangely familiar, surprising Gwen as well.

Spider-Man glanced at it. "That's Doctor Octopus—or rather, Lady Octopus. Real name, Carolyn Trainer. She wields four AI-controlled mechanical arms. A ruthless, dangerous opponent…"

So, in this world, Doctor Octopus was a woman?

Xi Nian and Gwen exchanged shocked looks, then listened as Spider-Man described several more villains.

As the only superhero in this universe, Peter was intimately familiar with them. Of course, the reverse was also true—those villains knew him just as well.

After finishing the briefing, Spider-Man produced two altered Spider-suits and handed them over. But before Xi Nian could accept his, the black-haired youth spoke thoughtfully: "I just thought of a good plan."

Spider-Man looked at him curiously. "What plan?"

"The plan's key role… is you." Xi Nian replied.

"?"

A chill of unease crawled up Spider-Man's spine.

…

Nightfall.

Brooklyn, New York. A derelict underground subway station.

A train screeched to a halt.

A dark-skinned boy in canvas sneakers and a backpack stepped off. His face was pale and weary, though his complexion hid most of it.

His name was Miles Morales.

He had been just a normal high school student—until last night. A bite from a strangely colored spider had changed everything.

Now he could hear sounds he'd never noticed before, stick to ninety-degree walls, even cling to clothing like it was coated in glue.

"I have to find that spider…" Miles muttered, slipping into an abandoned tunnel of the station.

The tunnel had long since been out of use.

Following the faint glow up ahead, Miles soon spotted the colorful spider lying dead on the ground.

He reached for it—only to watch in shock as the corpse twisted unnaturally and vanished, as if swallowed by another dimension.

At that exact moment, a thunderous noise erupted from deeper inside the abandoned station, mixed with a monstrous roar.

Heart pounding, Miles crept forward.

The ruined station had been transformed into a cavernous chamber. Its walls lined with massive electrode-like panels. Two colossal machines, each over ten meters wide, faced each other across the chamber—like a particle collider, scaled up hundreds of times.

And inside the chamber, two figures were locked in fierce battle!

One was a hulking green brute, like a walking mountain of flesh, its head crowned with devilish horns, its face beastly and grotesque. Muscled like a demon, it sported green wings and a lashing tail, its red eyes blazing with madness.

The Green Goblin!

And the one fighting it—dressed in the classic red-and-blue webbed suit—was none other than Spider-Man!

"Kingpin, stop this! You'll destroy all of New York!"

Spider-Man shouted desperately, only to be hurled back by the Goblin's monstrous strength.

With such overwhelming size and power, the Goblin's punches rattled even Spider-Man's advanced suit.

"You should worry about yourself, Spider-Man! Barging in here alone—tonight's your death!"

From behind reinforced glass, the control room overlooked the fight. Inside stood the well-dressed crime lord himself: Kingpin.

Dodging the Goblin's next charge, Spider-Man scrambled toward the central console—only for a cloaked figure in a steel mask to swoop down. Twin gauntlets blazed with purple energy, blasting him from the air.

The Prowler.

His eyes glowed with violet lightning as his jetpack roared, driving him into a deadly dive after Spider-Man.

Now caught between the Goblin and Prowler, Spider-Man found himself overwhelmed and trapped.

"It's over for you, Spider-Man."

Kingpin's eyes were cold as he barked to his men: "Activate the collider. Tear open the parallel universes!"

"No!"

From the shadows, Miles gasped. He didn't understand fully, but terror gnawed at him—the sense of looming annihilation.

"Opportunities… favor the prepared," Spider-Man muttered through gritted teeth, slammed against the wall by his enemies.

"It's finished!"

In the control room, Kingpin raised his massive hand and slammed down the final activation switch.

Snap!

The chamber went silent.

Nothing happened.

The twin colliders remained dormant.

Kingpin froze.

The machines should have drained New York's energy, unleashed twin energy pillars, and shattered open a gateway to the multiverse. But nothing happened.

"Well done, Xi Nian. You're my Superman!"

Spider-Man, battered but grinning, no longer looked desperate. He chuckled darkly.

Kingpin's head snapped up.

There—on the chamber ceiling, above the central console—stood the shadowed figure of a black-haired boy.

And in the console itself, a USB stick had already been plugged in.
