At the moment Seryu was lost, a pair of large hands reached from behind and wrapped her in an embrace.
So fragrant.
Seryu instinctively sank into the intoxicating scent of masculine hormones. Only after a long beat did she come to.
"Akuto-sama, is the reason you reassigned me as your personal guard… because you fancy my body?"
Seryu turned, looking up at Akuto. Crystalline tears welled and spilled from the girl's brown eyes, making her achingly lovely to behold.
Seeing this, Akuto's cheeks grew a little damp as well.
"Seryu, I do like you—a lot. I also think you're a very adorable girl."
"But the reason I brought you to my side isn't merely because I fancy your body."
"?"
Seryu shot Akuto a puzzled look.
Akuto held her gaze, eyes firm and steady.
After over ten seconds, Seryu felt she'd read his intent.
"Akuto-sama… you want to punish Oka-sensei right in front of me, don't you?"
Seryu's mood lifted a great deal.
Right— even if Oka-sensei proved evil, Akuto is still justice, isn't he?
She often heard citizens bad-mouth Oka-sensei, but he never… spoke!
Even if her own understanding had been wrong, surely the people's understanding couldn't be!
Governor Akuto is the very embodiment of justice—the sun she should follow!
And now, isn't Governor Akuto guiding her, turning her thoughts around?!
"If you can steady yourself, good. If you can't, I'll keep holding you—giving you strength."
With that, Akuto released Seryu and walked to his desk.
Seryu bit her red lip, unsure how to respond.
Was Akuto simply empowering a subordinate… or did he, perhaps, really like her even a little?
Whichever it was, Seryu had to admit: she truly wanted to remain in Akuto's arms.
"Seryu, look at this."
Akuto handed a top-level dossier to Seryu.
"This is…?" Seryu took the file, confused.
"It's the Governor's Office's investigation into the corruption and pay-to-play behind the Capital Security Corps."
"Ever since receiving Oka's letter, I realized filth was festering behind the Corps, so I immediately launched a probe—striving to lay bare every mid-to-upper echelon figure in the Corps."
"Eh? The entire mid-to-high ranks of the Capital Security Corps?!"
Seryu's pupils constricted. As expected, Governor Akuto had thought far beyond a mere rank-and-file member like her!
She had only imagined Oka-sensei was evil, but hadn't considered that, beyond Oka-sensei, the Corps must be crawling with evildoers!
Seryu truly was a bit naïve.
Because, in such a short time, it was impossible for Akuto to have investigated everything clearly.
The reason he could present materials so fast was that Akuto had long planned to move against the Corps!
He hadn't acted earlier only because, even if he purged them, he couldn't yet plant his own people into the vacated posts—nothing more.
Now that Akuto had secured the governorship and, through the gold and silver mines, won the support of the Emperor and the nobles, the time for a grand cleansing had come!
Basking in Seryu's worshipful gaze, Akuto continued:
"Seryu, what lies before you is the result of the investigation. The results show that, apart from Captain Oka, a great many in the Capital Security Corps' mid-to-upper ranks are guilty of embezzlement, bribery, and bending the law for personal gain."
"Today, the Governor's Office is moving on them."
"I called you here for one question."
"Seryu—"
"…Will you become my blade, and help me sweep the monsters out of the Capital Security Corps?"
Hearing Akuto's explanation, a dazzling light ignited in Seryu's brown eyes—
a light named Justice, named Hope!
"Yes! Seryu will steadfastly follow Governor Akuto's steps and purge the monsters within the Capital Security Corps!"
Capital Security Corps Headquarters.
Oka was summarizing the intelligence he'd gathered to plan which side to back later.
"Holy crap… with just one expedition slot, Governor Akuto pulled ninety percent of the nobles to his side."
"Even if those nobles only bought in for profit, after the cake is sliced this round, plenty will choose to keep supporting Governor Akuto."
"Fair enough—compared to a Grand Minister who can only extract and maintain rule, a Governor who grows the pie and plunders resources abroad is way stronger."
"My guess is many think like me: stay with the Minister's side for now, and once the winds shift—flip to the Governor's camp."
"The biggest variable for the Minister's faction should be General Esdeath, who's entering the capital today for an audience."
"If, going forward, Esdeath can outmatch Governor Akuto, the Minister's faction still has hope."
"But if even Esdeath isn't a match for Governor Akuto, plenty in the Minister's camp will surely jump ship."
"In the near term, the Minister is most likely to act through the once-again-returned Minister Tōri."
"To stop Governor Akuto's rise, Minister Tōri will attempt a full-scale political 'restructuring'."
"So… where should the Capital Security Corps go from here?"
As Oka brooded, the Corps' front doors slammed open to a chorus of shouts.
Before he could react, his office door burst inward!
A massive white beast crashed through, gouging a crater into the floor.
The huge white monster reverted to its original form and let out a hearty burp.
Thump!
With a heavy sound, Seryu dropped to her knees in seiza. Two trails of tears ran down the girl's fair cheeks and fell onto her pure-white, over-the-knee stockings.
Not far away, Akuto stood where he was, watching the exquisite look on Seryu's face as she wept—his very soul shuddered.
He understood Diodora's tastes a little now.
To take a girl of unwavering faith, shatter that faith, and then slip in to claim her… both heart and body—
there was something undeniably… delicious about it.
Ding!

Judgment of the Ten Kings (Red Dragon Emperor Edition): Integrates Seryu's original "Judgment of the Ten Kings" techniques into the Boosted Gear's Juggernaut Drive armor, enhancing the Red Dragon Emperor's combat versatility across scenarios.
With a soft sound, Akuto embraced Seryu from behind again, just as before—granting the girl warmth and certainty.
Seryu turned to Akuto, eyes brimming with love.
"Akuto-sama… I killed Oka-sensei with my own hands."
"Mhm. I know."
"But this isn't your fault. It's mine. I gave you the order to execute Oka."
"So, place all the sin on me, and live on with no burdens."
"Eh?"
At that, Seryu froze.
So that's how it is? Akuto-sama gave that order… for her sake?
As his hand softly caressed Seryu's long, full, white-clad thighs, Akuto asked in a low voice:
"Seryu, I like you. I affirm your justice."
"Will you stay by my side and protect justice with me?"
Seryu fell silent for a few seconds.
Then, in a sudden instant, she lifted her head, wrapped her arms around Akuto's face, and pressed her red lips to his.
The kiss was deep—heavy. Because Seryu needed to draw from Akuto the strength to keep living.
With faith shattered, both the girl's heart and body were empty to the extreme—desperate to be filled by another.
And so Akuto, without hesitation, took up that charge.
