Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Home

Chapter 9: Home

After a day of traveling, they finally arrived back at Holy Spirit Village in the afternoon. From a distance, Xiao Fei spotted Old Jack waiting for him at the village entrance. Xiao Fei had already informed Old Jack via letter when he would return to the village for the holidays.

Xiao Fei ran towards Old Jack, almost summoning his spirit. Arriving at the village entrance, seeing Old Jack's aged face, Xiao Fei felt like crying: "Grandpa, I'm back."

"It's good to be back, it's good to be back. You've worked hard at school. Let's go home quickly. I stewed a chicken at home. You'll need to nourish yourself when you get home."

Old Jack kept grabbing Xiao Fei's body, looking here and there, worried that Xiao Fei had been injured or had some other physical changes. After all, he was familiar with the cruelty of the spirit master world.

A while later, Tang San and Xiao Wu also arrived at the village entrance.

"Xiao San is back too!"

"Grandpa Old Jack, is my dad home now?" Tang San asked.

Old Jack rummaged through his pockets for a moment, then pulled out an envelope and handed it to Tang San. "Xiao San, your father isn't home right now. He left a letter for you. Give it to you when you return to the village."

"Oh, by the way, your father's been gone a while. Your family hasn't cooked in ages, and I don't know if we have any food. Come to my house for a meal first."

Tang San nodded involuntarily, then opened the letter and read it carefully several times. Suddenly, tears welled up in Tang San's eyes, and he couldn't help but keep saying "Dad, Dad!" The group didn't know what to say. Finally, Xiao Wu consoled him, and Tang San and Xiao Wu followed Xiao Fei and Old Jack to Old Jack's house.

Perhaps knowing Tang San would be there for dinner, Old Jack prepared a lavish meal. Afterward, Tang San thanked Old Jack again and took Xiao Wu back home.

That evening, when Xiao Fei and Old Jack were alone together, Old Jack looked at Xiao Fei with a strange look that sent shivers down his spine. Xiao Fei asked timidly, "Grandpa, did something happen back home? Why are you looking at me like that?"

Old Jack replied, "Xiao San went to school with you, and she brought back such a beautiful girl in a year. Why are you coming back alone? Next time, remember to bring a beautiful girl too. If you're alone, it's best not to come back at all."

Old Jack's words tonight left Xiao Fei speechless. Xiao Wu was a shrewd old woman, and being with a girl like that would be a bit awkward. He was happier being single. Of course, Xiao Fei didn't dare say these words out loud, and quickly agreed to Old Jack's request.

Then Xiao Fei took out the packages he had brought back and gave them to Old Jack, especially a few sets of clothes, asking him to try them on. Old Jack felt refreshed in his new clothes, a smile plastered across his face.

He also angrily scolded him, "You're studying alone in Notting City, and the academic pressure is huge. You have so many things to spend. You're spending lavishly on me.

We have everything at home. You should save more money and use it to get married." Xiao Fei was speechless again after hearing this. No matter how you talk about it, it's all about getting a wife.

For the next period, apart from his own exercise and meditation time, Xiao Fei spent his time helping Old Jack with chores, including hoeing the fields and tidying up the house.

He even hunted a wild boar in the back mountains to improve his family's living conditions. Sometimes, Xiao Fei felt that perhaps this was what home felt like, and that this period was the warmest in his entire life.

Time flew by, and school was almost about to start. One day, Xiao Fei, Xiao Wu, and Tang San left Holy Spirit Village together. Old Jack stood at the village entrance, watching them leave. As

Xiao Fei walked down the road, he glanced back at Old Jack for a last moment as he almost lost sight of the village. Then, after a moment's reflection, he turned away, and, as Tang San and Xiao Wu waited, he left the village without a backward glance.

After returning to school, Xiao Fei resumed his busy life. Due to his evil fire problem, Xiao Fei increased his training intensity. He crafted two wrist guards, two foot guards, and an iron vest out of high-density silver, weighing approximately 100 kilograms in total.

Except for bathing, Xiao Fei rarely removed his weights. Due to the heavy workload and his busy schedule, Xiao Fei was practically exhausted every day, and the evil fire had little effect on him.

One day, the principal suddenly called him into his office. Xiao Fei was immediately confused. "No, why would the principal call me?"

Arriving at the office, he saw the principal and Yu Xiaogang. Yu Xiaogang looked noticeably better physically and mentally than at the start of last year. He looked refreshed and no longer depressed. Xiao Fei wondered, "Could it be that the principal is calling me in this time because of Yu Xiaogang?"

Sure enough, the principal introduced him, "This is Yu Xiaogang, known as the Master. He's a figure known for his theoretical invincibility in the spirit master world. He has a question for you."

Xiao Fei quickly replied, "Hello, Master. What do you want to ask me?"

Yu Xiaogang nodded and asked, "You must be Wang Xiaofei, right? Your first spirit ring is that of the Fiery Lion King, approximately 600 years old. Can you tell me what it felt like when you absorbed that spirit ring?

I've previously calculated from various data that the annual limit for absorbing a first spirit ring is 423 years. Those exceeding this limit will generally explode and die. Since you're in such good health now, I'd like to know more."

Xiao Fei was speechless. His theories were based on statistics from the Spirit Hall. While they might apply to most ordinary people, they might not be applicable to certain situations.

Although Xiao Fei felt a little dissatisfied, Yu Xiaogang was the principal's friend, and it was the principal who had helped him obtain this spirit ring.

While some of Yu Xiaogang's theories were rather rigid, they were certainly helpful to ordinary spirit masters. Furthermore, applying his theories reduced the number of explosions caused by failed spirit ring absorption.

It could be said that Yu Xiaogang made a significant contribution to the spirit master community. While his theoretical knowledge might not have come from a good source,

Xiao Fei politely replied, "When I first absorbed the spirit ring, I felt as if my body was about to explode. It felt like countless flames were burning through me.

I felt as if my body was about to collapse. I gritted my teeth and endured it, believing that if I gave up, I might suffer irreversible damage."

Xiao Fei continued to recount the experience of absorbing the spirit ring, of course, not revealing a single detail about his twin martial spirits or his external spirit bones.

Yu Xiaogang nodded repeatedly as he listened to Xiao Fei's explanation. He also asked Xiao Fei some questions about his training.

He was surprised to learn that Xiao Fei now lived in the blacksmith shop and meditated there every night. Yu Xiaogang nodded and said,

"The blacksmith shop is indeed a good choice. It's like a simulated environment of fire. A fire-elemental martial spirit like yours can really speed up your cultivation. It seems you have a lot of ideas about cultivation."
