Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 “Mission Complete”

Chapter 5 "Mission Complete"

Click, click.

The sound of the trigger pulling was crisp and awkward.

Bai Cangzhu sheepishly lowered the empty white-quality firearm, meeting Abola's murderous gaze with a shrug.

"Didn't expect you to be so vigilant, not even providing bullets."

Only then did Abola's heart begin to pound violently with delayed fear, the intensity almost making his vision darken.

"You… you actually…"

He had no idea the gun was empty; it was a decision made instinctively by the experienced bodyguard based on seasoned judgment. But Bai Cangzhu pulling the trigger without a shred of hesitation had startled both bodyguards.

Now, they subconsciously reached for their waists.

Thump!

Abola only saw the young man before him suddenly become as agile as a cheetah, abruptly stepping onto the luxury stone table and lunging forward.

The movement was so abrupt. One second he was shrugging and smiling sheepishly as if playing a bad joke, the next he exploded into action.

A sudden chill ran down Abola's spine. In that instant, he felt the sensation of being targeted by a predator, just like when he was young and stalked by a wild beast in the mountain forest.

Crack!

Beneath Bai Cangzhu's clothes, his muscles were already tensed like springs. As he stepped on the stone and lunged, his center of gravity remained perfectly stable. Using the forward momentum, he instantly punched the left bodyguard's throat.

A crisp sound of bone cracking. The human laryngeal cartilage is very fragile. As Bai Cangzhu punched, he could feel the cartilage shattering and piercing the trachea, larynx, and blood vessels, even causing the cervical spine to bulge backward instantly.

Bang!

The bodyguard on the right had already drawn his pistol from behind him and fired directly at Bai Cangzhu.

But after shattering the first bodyguard's throat with a punch, Bai Cangzhu immediately ducked behind him. The shot merely grazed the shoulder of the still-living large bodyguard and hit the wall.

Bai Cangzhu forcefully pushed the tall bodyguard in front of him, who was whimpering from the immense pain in his throat and the panic of suffocation. The bodyguard stumbled back two steps, while Bai Cangzhu ducked low and followed like an agile monkey.

He performed these actions as if he had rehearsed them a thousand times in his dreams. Although he had never truly fought someone like this before, he felt no hesitation when shattering the throat.

It was as if… he had fantasized about doing this countless times.

Bang! Bang!

The remaining bodyguard, Owen, fired several more shots, but because his companion's body blocked the way, none hit. Panic seized his heart.

The next moment, a sharp pain shot through his knee, and his entire body instantly collapsed downward.

Bai Cangzhu fiercely stomped directly on Owen's knee joint. The sound of the joint breaking made Abola flinch almost instinctively, followed by bodyguard Owen's scream.

Owen was experienced. He now realized how terrifying Bai Cangzhu was. The excruciating pain of his hyperextended knee forced him to kneel abruptly.

But precisely because of this, he finally saw Bai Cangzhu hiding behind Lev's imposing body.

He gritted his teeth, raised his pistol, and immediately pulled the trigger.

Clack!

Bai Cangzhu's left hand shot out, jamming under the trigger Owen was trying to pull, preventing it from firing.

Owen was shocked and immediately struggled fiercely for the pistol, but the seemingly slender hand was terrifyingly steady. No matter how hard he pulled, he couldn't wrest the gun away.

Bai Cangzhu looked indifferently at the bodyguard kneeling on one knee, still fighting for the pistol, a hint of disappointment in his heart.

"Ordinary human strength, ordinary human thinking… heh."

If it were him, he would have unhesitatingly drawn his gun and shot through his companion's body in the first instance, unlike Owen who avoided his partner's body, ultimately rendering the firearm's advantage useless.

Of course, the most fundamental reason was that these two bodyguards were too weak, merely ordinary people who were slightly more robust.

Bai Cangzhu suddenly surged forward, kicking Owen in the face. The intense pain made him release the gun.

"Ugh…"

At this moment, the bodyguard Lev, whose throat had been crushed at the beginning, was still mumbling, but his face had turned purplish-red from lack of oxygen, and his body began to tremble and convulse intermittently.

Bai Cangzhu twirled the confiscated pistol.

[Light Pistol]

[Quality: White (Common)]

[Description: Mass-produced light single-shot flintlock pistol, uses bullet-type ammunition]

[Effect: Average rate of fire, low power]

[Note: Cannot be taken out of this world (Item information substance too low)]

He racked the slide. This firearm was actually similar to modern pistols in reality, except it used a round, bullet-type ammunition, making its power considerably less than modern bullets.

Of course, it was more than sufficient to kill ordinary people at close range.

Bai Cangzhu aimed the pistol at the wailing bodyguard, whose knee was hyperextended and nose broken, and shot him in the forehead.

Bang!

[You killed Bodyguard Owen, obtained 50 Dimension Points]

At this point, the convulsing large bodyguard also fell silent.

[You killed Bodyguard Lev, obtained 50 Dimension Points]

Bai Cangzhu felt no discomfort from killing for the first time. He approached the table again, aiming the pistol at Abola.

Abola's face was already deathly pale, the cigar in his mouth almost extinguished.

"Don't… don't kill me…"

He still didn't understand why this person, sent by Mercenary Tao to kill McGee, had directly attacked him instead.

Bai Cangzhu gestured with the pistol.

"The money?"

"Money?"

Abola didn't react immediately. This reception room had excellent soundproofing, intended for confidential secret business dealings, never imagining it would become the source of Abola's suffering.

Seeing the white smoke curling from the dark muzzle, he finally came to his senses, struggled to get up, and retrieved a briefcase from behind him.

"This… this is the one hundred million… fee."

Because Abola knew Mercenary Tao's style, he had actually prepared the money in advance, just not expecting the person arriving wouldn't be Mercenary Tao himself.

Bai Cangzhu opened the briefcase.

[Large Denomination Banknotes]

[Quality: Special Item]

[Description: Large denomination banknotes, usable only in Dragon Ball and its derivative worlds]

[Effect: Possesses strong purchasing power]

[Note: Cannot be taken out of this world]

Bai Cangzhu picked up the briefcase and stood up, preparing to leave.

Abola breathed a sigh of relief. Although he lost the money, he had at least sent this plague god away. But he didn't notice that Bai Cangzhu, having reached the door, had aimed the gun at him again.

Bang!

[You killed the Tycoon Abola, obtained 50 Dimension Points]

[Side Mission: Assassination Contract, Failed]

[Milestone: Killer Species, Progress Updated (3/100)]

The target wasn't dead, but the client was killed first. This side mission naturally failed, but Bai Cangzhu didn't care; there was no penalty for failing this mission.

He blew the white smoke from the gun's muzzle, then rummaged around the room again. This time, he actually found something a bit special.

[Precious Gemstone]

[Quality: Special Item]

[Description: A ruby of extraordinary size and extremely high purity]

[Effect: Holds high value in most worldviews, can also be used as magical material]

This egg-sized gemstone wasn't marked as unable to be taken out of the world. Bai Cangzhu weighed it, then placed it into the [Backpack] provided by the space.

This [Backpack] had 10 slots and could only store items that could be taken out of the current world.

Bai Cangzhu noticed that the clothes he wore in the real world were now placed in this [Backpack], occupying one slot.

The gemstone occupied another slot by itself. He guessed the backpack might have some stacking mechanism, but 10 slots weren't abundant. When trying to store items using his mind, there was also a prompt indicating only items not exceeding a standard size could be placed inside.

After rummaging around, Bai Cangzhu packed the one hundred million fee, along with several deeds, deposit slips, and the like, into the briefcase.

Then he casually left the luxurious reception room.

Some time after he left, the trading company's secretary realized Abola hadn't appeared for a long time, followed by horrified screams.

But by this time, Bai Cangzhu had already arrived outside the inn where the taxi driver was waiting. Leaning against the side of the rather cute-looking taxi, he spoke to the driver smoking at the inn entrance,

"Sir, I think we can head back now."

"Mission complete."
