Chapter 95 - Chapter 95: Unease in the Shadows

Just then, night goddess Nyx called out to stop Zeus.

Her shadowy form swayed slightly as she said hesitantly: "Zeus, what you're doing can indeed solve the problem, but the Mother of All Things may not agree with your decision."

"They are all her children, after all. No matter how dissatisfied she may be in her heart, she would never willingly destroy them or cast them into the even more terrible Tartarus."

Zeus didn't turn back, saying softly: "Since there's no other way, we can only choose this sole method."

"Trading four children for six—Mother Goddess should thank me."

Finally, Zeus spoke with unquestionable determination: "Please keep this secret for me temporarily, dear one. Don't tell Mother Goddess. Better to spare her the painful feelings for one moment less rather than one moment more."

With that, Zeus lingered no longer. His figure departed swiftly, transforming into a streak of light as he rushed toward Gaia's location.

There was still much to discuss there.

While Zeus was at the night goddess's place finalizing the ultimate plan, Prometheus was also, for the first time since pledging allegiance to Zeus, heading to Mount Othrys to see his father and brothers.

He came secretly.

This foreknowing one had charged forward courageously in several intense battles, always at the forefront.

Against his two brothers—Atlas and Menoetius—he had struck with heavy fists, showing no mercy!

By now, he had barely earned the trust of the Olympian gods.

His visit to see his father and brothers this time was not to betray and collaborate with the enemy, but to make one final effort to persuade them to surrender.

He firmly believed it was still not too late!

Though he didn't know Zeus's plans, he had already keenly sensed unease.

In this seemingly calm struggle between equally matched sides, deep unease had completely enveloped Prometheus's heart.

He had come to Mount Olympus nearly ten years ago, yet still couldn't see through this son of Kronos, not even the tiniest bit of his inner heart.

This son of Kronos seemed truly different from the God King, instead being warm and approachable like God Queen Rhea, full of light and hope.

He was confident and cheerful, possessing incomparable courage and profound wisdom, always radiating sunshine-like smiles.

No matter what great events occurred, he stood at the very front, bearing everything. His heart was tolerant and broad, able to accommodate all things.

Even Poseidon, whom everyone disliked, was just like his own two brothers—arrogant, rash, moody, and insatiably greedy.

Poseidon had repeatedly offended him, even speaking disrespectfully, yet he didn't mind at all, still treating him as a brother and showing merciful tolerance.

Such a god was simply too perfect.

Perfect to the point of being unrealistic.

"Well, except for his fondness for beautiful women," Prometheus added mentally.

This seemed to be the only "flaw" of this son of Kronos.

But this wasn't really a true flaw either. In the universe, besides Oceanus, which great god didn't have some lovers?

Moreover, the goddesses close to Zeus were all so powerful that this fondness for beauty actually became an advantage.

His friends grew ever more numerous, the deities following him ever more, and the gods became ever more convinced by him.

Such a great god who appeared flawless and perfect could only prove one thing!

His ambitions were vast! His desires boundless!

Because there had never been such a God King in the world! Never even heard of one!

A god who had never made mistakes was altogether too frightening.

So, would such a god be content to continue this stalemate?

Content to continue this meaningless war?

The God King was incomparably powerful, but Zeus could contend with him.

The God King couldn't be destroyed, but—was there truly no way?

After all, the once invincible Sky Father Uranus had ultimately fallen into eternal slumber.

The more peaceful time became, the more uneasy Prometheus felt, anxiety following him like a shadow.

He knew very clearly that with his status and achievements at Olympus, after Zeus succeeded, he wouldn't be able to successfully plead for his father and brothers.

Then only one method remained!

Persuade his father and brothers to serve Zeus in time!

Even now, it wasn't too late.

Even if they would lose much, they could still embrace the future.

But if they remained obstinately unrepentant, they would certainly have no future to speak of.

When Prometheus came to Mount Othrys once again, looking at this still infinitely majestic divine mountain, his expression was incomparably complex.

The family of Iapetus was the only family to whom God King Kronos had granted honor.

Their honor was bestowed upon this divine mountain, within the God King's eternal temple, by the once supreme God King.

But how much longer could this divine mountain representing the universe's center continue to stand?

How much time would that other equally towering divine mountain need before completely replacing this one?

Prometheus came to Iapetus's palace. Besides some elemental spirits patrolling outside the palace, there were no other deities inside the palace proper. His father and brothers were all currently attending the God King's feast.

Though God King Kronos had sworn off alcohol, to lift the spirits and morale of the dejected Titan gods, he held continuous feasts day and night.

Wine could still be drunk—as long as one didn't wish to be drunk, gods wouldn't become intoxicated.

Though drinking without getting drunk was utterly tasteless.

Even while constantly at war, both sides maintained a peculiar, unexpected tranquility.

Prometheus waited outside the palace for a very long time before his father and brothers finally returned from the feast.

The moment he saw Prometheus, the previously tipsy and rash Menoetius instantly became furious, his intoxication clearing immediately.

His burly form was about to charge forward to properly teach this detestable bastard brother who was a traitor!

Violent Atlas's divine power became chaotic and wild, nearly entering berserk state directly.

Instead, it was death weaver Iapetus, the great recycler, whose profound gaze fixed on Prometheus as he stopped his two emotionally agitated children.

He showed no unusual reaction, didn't even blame Prometheus, only calm on his face.

With unexpected tranquility, he said in low tones: "Prometheus, while His Majesty the God King doesn't yet know of your arrival, leave immediately. Otherwise, you will immediately receive the cruelest punishment."

"The punishment for traitors."

However, Prometheus didn't heed his father god's warning.

He said in heavy tones: "Revered father god, my dear brothers, I swear by my honor that final victory in this war will absolutely not belong to His Majesty the God King!"

"His Majesty the God King's order has been completely negated—the corrupt and obstinate old order will inevitably be destroyed!"

"Victory will only belong to the son of Rhea, to illustrious Zeus!"

"Have you considered the future? If defeated, what fate awaits you?"

"All glory will vanish like smoke—all the universe's beauty, you will never again be able to enjoy!"
