She stood up from the chair. As she rose, she could still feel the sorrow lingering in the room. Her room looked like a battlefield, yet she didn't care—she threw herself onto the bed to rest. Then she glanced to her side, to see how many shadows had come.
Today she noticed there were three shadows. They were Joy, Resentment, and Anxiety. Only three shadows had visited her today.
The shadows always appeared after midnight. Around eight in the morning, they left. They were the girl's closest friends. Each of them had different traits. For instance, Joy always talked about happy memories. Anxiety spoke about her future at university. But there was only one shadow that she secretly hoped would not come.
Joy said,
—Let's play some cards. Do you know the game "Old Maid," Resentment?
—No, I don't, Joy. Or rather… I don't want to play.
Then Anxiety spoke,
—But what if our friend's father wakes up? What if he sees us playing and beats her again?
—You worry too much, Anxiety. In this world, only **** can see us. We're not real after all—we are the monsters in her mind.
Then the girl interrupted.
—STOP IT, YOU GUYS! —We can't play cards. Yes, Anxiety is right. If my father wakes up, he will beat me. It's better if we all just sleep together.
Joy then said,
—Alright, dear friend. If that makes you happy, let's all get into bed together.
—Come on, Joy, Anxiety, and Resentment! I made room for you under my blanket!

—You know, ****? The stars are so beautiful. Like the tears of angels.
The girl replied,
—I wish Sadness were here with us. She'd probably cry while looking at the sky.
The four of them fell asleep watching the stars. Yet one of those stars was red…
