The Empress, Lady Elle, rose with a triumphant, confident smirk and walked to the central podium. Her presence was a spectacle, an open display of her determination to reclaim her former status.
Advisor Cassian, a stern-faced man, cleared his throat and addressed her. "Lady Elle," he began, "the Emperor is considering a new edict to limit the size of noble family retinues. Present an argument for or against this measure."
She did not hesitate. "I would argue for the measure," she began, her voice resonating with regal authority. "While it is a noble's right to protect their lands, unchecked power in the form of private armies is a threat to the Empire's stability. Such an edict would not weaken the nobility, but rather strengthen the throne by ensuring all power and loyalty ultimately rests with His Majesty, thereby preventing internal strife and rebellion."
Her answer was perfect and diplomatically sound.
