Lin Xin leaned quietly against Han Yan's chest. The sadness that had weighed heavily on him earlier had finally eased, replaced by a quiet sense of comfort as he listened to the steady beat of Han Yan's heart.
Han Yan lowered his gaze and noticed Lin Xin's slightly puffy eyes and tear-stained cheeks. His brows drew together.
"Come. Let's wash your face. It's all red." A faint teasing note entered his voice. "If Little Hai sees you like this, won't he accuse me of bullying his Xin-ge?"
The corners of Lin Xin's lips curved faintly.
"He wouldn't."
"He definitely would."
A trace of amusement appeared in Han Yan's eyes. "That child is very protective of you."
Before Lin Xin could respond, Han Yan helped him sit up properly and reached for the cloth beside the basin. He dipped it into the remaining warm water, wrung it out, and gently wiped Lin Xin's cheeks.
"Don't move too much, okay?"
