Min-jae's lips trembled.
He tried to speak, but no sound came out. Instead, his breath hitched sharply and then, all at once, tears welled up in his eyes.
They spilled over before he could stop them, tracking down his cheeks as his shoulders shook.
He turned away, taking a few unsteady steps as if he needed distance just to breathe, one hand coming up to his face as he began to cry in earnest.
Meical froze.
The anger drained out of him so fast it left him dizzy.
"…Kaizar?" he said, voice breaking as he crossed the space between them in two long strides. "Hey—hey, look at me."
He caught Min-jae gently by the arms, panic creeping in. "Are you okay? Did I hurt you? Are you in pain...did something happen?"
Min-jae shook his head, tears blurring his vision. His voice came out small, wounded.
"You shouted at me," he said. "Why would you raise your voice like that?"
The words hit Meical harder than any accusation could have.
