Chapter 2 - C2: The Gift of Speed

The system's chime still echoed in Chunluo's mind.

[

Selection complete. The speed attribute of the host is doubled. Rewards are being distributed.

]

A moment later, a warm current surged from nowhere, flowing rapidly through his body. it coursed through his veins like liquid fire, sharpening his senses and tightening every muscle.

Chunluo staggered, bracing himself against the alley wall as the warmth spread. The fullness in his body faded, replaced by an inexplicable sense of fullness. His muscles firmed, lines of strength etching beneath his skin.

When the current finally subsided, Chunluo opened his eyes.

 Power hummed within him.

In a blink, his body blurred. He reappeared tens of meters away, the sudden rush of wind whipping at his clothes.

"If vampires already had several times the speed of ordinary humans... then now-" He clenched his fist, grinning. "Now I'm at least ten times faster."

Compared to ordinary vampires, he had gained an overwhelming advantage. Even if he ran into Blade again, Chunluo was confident that while he couldn't win, he could at least escape the Daywalker's pursuit. Survival alone was a victory.

For the first time since awakening in this cursed world, he felt a flicker of true safety.

'This... this is huge. With speed like this, I'm not just prey anymore.'

He experimented, darting across the alley again, testing the limits of his body. His movements cut through the night like shadows, faster then most eyes could follow.

After a while, his expression grew thoughtful.

"System.... do you have a property panel?"

 Another chime answered.

[

Evaluation: A weak chicken vampire whose combat power surpasses that of ordinary humans

]

 Chunluo's face twitched

 "A weak chicken vampire?"

He was extremely dissatisfied with the system's evaluation. But after a moment's thought, he sighed. The system wasn't wrong.

This was a dangerous world where superheros and monsters walked casually through cities. Even though it was still some time before the era of cosmic threats, there was already Blade- the Daywalker. A man with vampire powers but with none of their weaknesses. Coupled with his brutak combat skills, Blade was nearly unstoppable.

'Even with my speed, facing him head-on now would be impossible.'

But he had something Blade didn't: the system.

His eyes lit with renewed determination.

If he could continue growing- strength, speed, abilities- he would someday match Blade.

The thought of his earlier frustration faded/ The identity of "vampire" no longer seemed like a curse.

"With this system... I can shed my weaknesses, one by one. And when that happens, I'll have everything- strength, immortality, and power rivaling gods."

He thought of vampire lifespans stretching across centuries, perhaps even thousands if years. With the right path, his future might be as brilliant as any so-called "hero."

 Chunluo smirked to himself.

'As expected of the noble Blood Clan.... this body truly comes from extraordinary origins.'

The moment of pride passed as his gaze shifted back towards the charred slaughterhouse. He narrowed his eyes.

'The police will come soon. If i linger nothing good will come of it.'

He turned, ready to leave the scene entirely- when a memory stirred.

 Quinn

The one who had turned him.

'That bastard shouldn't be dead yet. Even burned by Blade, a vampire's vitality... no, it wouldn't kill him outright.'

A cold light flashed in Chunluo's eyes.

'He turned me into this... and those memories of torture..' His scalp prickled just thinking about it. 'That scumbag. Hell is his best destination.'

The system chimed again, reacting instantly to his killing intent,

[

Ding. host has developed killing intent towards Quinn.

 Choices initiated.

Option One: Eliminate Quinn. Seize the Frost's family's second position.

Reward: Blade's full combat experience and skills.

Option Two: Forgive Quinn. Let the hatred go.

 Reward: Forgiveness Hat

]

Chunluo's mouth twitched at the second option.

"A./..forgiveness hat?" His voice dripped with contempt.

Without hesitation, he chose the first option.

"Forgiveness? That's God's business. Mine is sending him to God."

Still, he wasn't reckless. Quinn was not only Deacon Frost's right hand man. but he also just survived Blade's wrath.

With Chunluo's current power, even with speed on his side, he couldn't openly strike Quinn down- not yet. He needed to prepare, plan, and use opportunities.

Turning back once more, Chunluo's eyes narrowed at the slaughterhouse's gates before he melted into the darkness.

Not long after, police cars swarmed the area. Among the ashed, they found Quinn's charred remains. Believing him dead, they sent the body to the hospital for examination.

 But Chunluo already knew better.

And he intended to be waiting when the time came.
