Shao Mingzhu looked at the closed door for a while, and kept moving his shirt around the area of his heart. If he had a heart right now, it would be pounding fast, making his face red. Well, if he had a heart he wouldn't be in the current situation in the first place.
With her gone, I need to wear some clothes that fit tightly on my body and will give her a hard time to see my chest. I also cannot allow her to feel my pulse. Alchemists learn medicine; therefore she would know that something is wrong when I don't have a pulse. Trouble upon troubles keep appearing. My death, the missing pages, a missing heart, and now my sister. Sigh, at least she should have some useful information about myself and what I've done in the past two weeks. If not, let's see what my job brings me in two days.
While Shao Yunlu rushed off to grab Shao Mingzhu some medicine, Shao Mingzhu began to plan some ways to gain some information and hide the fact he has a missing heart.
What about my wardrobe? Although this is a world of cultivation, it's no longer in ancient times, but more of a mix of modern and futuristic.
With that thought in mind, Shao Mingzhu got up from his desk and walked a few steps and reached a somewhat broken wardrobe that smelt like old wood. Stretching out his hand and feeling the rough oak texture on the handle, he pulled in back lightly, opening the wardrobe.
Once the wardrobe opened, he was met with a rush of the smell of lemon. The smell caused his nose to crease a little and let out a small cough which made the pain on his neck intensify.
What the fuck! I forget that this body loved the smell of lemons. Well, it's not actually that bad, but when you're not prepared for the sudden rush of lemon, it can really catch you off guard. Shao Mingzhu complained, and rubbed his eyes lightly, getting a bit of moisture on his hands due to his eyes watering up.
After clearing up his eyes, Shao Mingzhu took a look at his current clothes. Unlike normal cultivation worlds that are in Shao Mingzhu's mind, the clothes here are all suits and button up shirts. Although there are a few robes here and there, compared to the amount of suits he has, it wasn't worth mentioning.
Black suits, white suits, red suits, blue suits… God damn it, why do I only have suits? Those who were flying had cool robes that fluttered in the wind. I feel like I've now travelled to a business oriented world, not a cultivation world!
Tch, whatever. I have to be fast. I'll just wear a red button up shirt with a white suit. Red and white go together nicely, so I don't have to worry about aesthetics. Even if it isn't a work day today, wearing a suit should be fine. After all, it's the only thing I really have to wear.
Scanning through the plethora of suits and shirts, Shao Mingzhu picked a red and white build and quickly took off his current button up shirt and threw it on the ground and wore the red button up shirt. Once the red button up shirt was put on, he spun around and put on the white suit, choosing not to wear any vest.
Taking a quick look at himself, Shao Mingzhu gave a slight nod of his head. If it wasn't for the bruising around his neck turning it blue, he'd be very satisfied with his current appearance.
I take back everything I said about the suits. I'm very handsome in them. I should've worn suits back on earth even if my job didn't need one.
Shao Mingzhu was quite satisfied with his choice of clothing now, and the only thing he has left to do is to change into a pair of white pants, but that could wait a few more minutes until he didn't have to deal with his sister anymore. He didn't want to start changing now and be seen with his pants down, that would be embarrassing for the both of them.
Even if I don't need to wear robes, it would still be nice to have a few to feel the vibe of an actual cultivator. Shao Mingzhu muttered and walked to his desk and sat down on his chair.
Right now, the only thing he has to do is to wait for his sister's arrival. Wearing a suit would make it hard for her to see his chest if she pulls down on his collar to apply some ointment on his neck. He had no doubt that she'd be the one to apply the ointment and wouldn't allow him to do it. It has been like this since his childhood, and hasn't changed one bit as they grew up.
Considering he was weak and took the useless path of a cultivation, he was an easy target for those who sought to bully the weak, but Shao Mingzhu fought back every time, causing his body to be riddled with wounds. Thus his sister would make some ointments to treat his wounds. He was like a personal test subject for his sister during her days at university, and probably helped her out a bunch because of it.
Damn, why did I have to inherit the embarrassing memories of being my own sister's personal test subject? Couldn't my brain just leave that bit out? Shao Mingzhu complained, but his thoughts halted as the sounds of footsteps approached the door.
Hearing her footsteps, Shao Mingzhu brushed his long black hair slightly and waited for her to enter the room.
It didn't take long before the sound of the door creaking open, and Shao Yunlu came in with steady steps with a bunch of bottles of medicine.
Shao Mingzhu lips twitched slightly, and his face was a little pale as his eyes scanned across the medical bottles. A certain memory seemed to play in his head, causing him to cough slightly.
"Ahem, sister. Do you think you're being a little much?" Shao Mingzhu said.
Shao Yunlu ignored his words and dumped the bottles of medicine on his desk. Loud thumping noises echoed through the room, hiding the sound of Shao Mingzhu gulp.
"Stop your nonsense thinking. These are all ointments and healing pills. The ointments are high quality while the healing pills didn't pass my organization's standards, but don't worry, they still work, they just have a bad taste." Shao Yunlu said, snorting at his exaggerated expression.
After dumping all the medicine on his desk she picked up a brown bottle that had healing ointment in it and opened it up.
"Now don't move and let me apply some medicine to your bruising. Don't resist, or I'll have to use some force."
Shao Mingzhu nodded his head, and let his collar loosen a little, but not enough for her to pull it down to his heart. Then in his watchful eyes, Shao Yunlu put the ointment on her right fingers and approached him.
He watched as her fingers lightly pressed on his neck and rubbed it across the last layer of ointment, causing a slight burning sensation, but a lot less painful than when he did it. Her fingers were smooth and soft, and glided across his neck like ice, covering it up with ointment in no time.
"Strange, I feel like something is wrong." She muttered, but Shao Mingzhu heard, causing his throat to roll.
"Sister, you've done enough today, especially giving me your ointments. If I have any other symptoms, I'll come to you immediately, ok." Shao Mingzhu said, putting some distance between the two.
Shao Yunlu's eyes stayed on Shao Mingzhu's figure for a while before she finally nodded her head.
Well if there is something wrong, I'll find out eventually. She thought to herself and let the matter go.
"Fine, but you should stay safe out there. I heard from my leader from my organization that void cultivators have been storming into Feather City recently. I don't know much about the situation, but apparently there is some treasure they want, thus many are secretly gathering here in the city." Shao Yunlu said, causing Shao Mingzhu's mind to wander.
Void cultivators? They're beings wanted from the nine worlds and travel through the void aimlessly. They are this universe equivalent of evil cultivators, and they came for some treasures? Does this have anything to do with the secret realm and my death, or should I say Shao Mingzhu's death? I must ask my leader about this when I get back to work on Monday.
