Chapter 20 - Brief Company Structure

As though he hadn't heard her correctly, Dylan stared at her.

No?

Why would she ever say no to an offer like that?

There were hundreds of positions in Sunlight Group. Hundreds. For Dylan, his position of Director of Investor Relations was so benign, and even more, it wasn't one he earned.

They all seemed to hate him because of it as well so why not just let him start over?

Even though his parents owned shares in the company, Dylan wasn't that important. Not as important as the CEO or the COO or anything anywhere close to that.

The structure of Sunlight Group was just like many others, except more intricate and complicated.

Above everyone was the enigmatic and elusive Executive Owner who no one knew of their real identity. Unlike traditional companies that had no outright owner, Sunlight Group apparently had one hiding in the shadows.

After the Executive Owner was the shareholders. Micheal Sato, the man in an affair with Diana, was one of many. Including Dylan's parents.

After the shareholders was the CEO, Alison's mother; Natalie Preston. She was the one who ran the company as the overall leader, making the decisions that were necessary to push them forward.

What came just below the CEO position was the COO (Chief Operating Officer). That position was held by Mino Sato, daughter of Micheal Sato.

One could say that she too held her position because of nepotism, but that would only be because the person was present when she had clawed her way through the ranks, refusing her father's help.

Dylan had run into her a couple times but she was mostly cold and quiet, never even noticed him. She oversaw daily operations of the company.

Below her position was the CFO position (Chief Financial Officer). It was held by Kenshi Fujiwara, a staunch office man who was extremely great with numbers.

Dylan had heard rumors that he was from a weapon clan that has lived for centuries in Japan. Dylan didn't deny it.

The man's face certainly appeared like he had mastered all forms of karate, while still looking like a friendly office man.

He managed finances and budgeting.

After the CFO position, the CTO (Chief Technology Officer) was next. It was held by a boring, chubby man named Stewart Piker.

He spent most of his time in front of computer screens, and whenever there was a pizza delivery, it was always likely for him.

His overall job was technological innovation and heading the IT team.

Below the CFO was the CMO (Chief Marketing Officer). The position was held by David Chen, the unsuspecting, respectful man, who could lose his job because of Micheal Sato's and Diana's hidden relationship.

He led marketing and branding efforts.

Next was the CHRO (Chief Human Resources Officer). It was held by one of the younger workers in the company, Aletta Parks.

She was a witty, social, and talkative girl, always wearing the flashiest and in season fashionable clothes to come to work. She oversaw hiring, training, and HR policy.

Just below them was the Board of Directors that made sure everything functioned well. They represented each shareholder. Dylan only knew Hana Toshino, because she represented his parents.

Even after all these positions, Dylan's job in the company was still not anywhere close.

After the Board of Directors, then came the H.O.D: the Head of Departments or Divisions.

The same woman he was standing before at that moment.

Mrs. Asami Tachibana made sure that every Department was functioning perfectly and accordingly. There were over 8 Divisions in the company.

Investment Division spearheaded by Diana Miller: They managed investors, investments, company stocks and company owned assets, ensuring they hold value.

Real Estate Division led by John Lakeson: They managed commercial/residential projects, luxury development, and leasing.

Technology Division led by Akio Masuru: They focused on fintech, AI, biotech and R&D partnerships.

Energy & Infrastructure Division led by Takeo Smith: They handle green energy, oil, mining, utilities and transport projects.

Consumer Goods Division led by Yuto Nakamura: They oversee lifestyle brands, food & beverages, and they retail investments.

Legal & Compliance Division led by Rachel Kato: They handle legal strategy, contracts, and shields Sunlight Group from lawsuits.

Human Capital Division led by Mary Longbird: They focus on recruiting, PR and executive image cultivation.

Finally, Philanthropy & CSR Division led by Mei Rin: They maintain the company's benevolent public image.

It was finally within these positions that Dylan was. But he was merely one of the lowest positions under the Investment Division.

Diana had more direct subordinates that were way more powerful than him, such as the Manager of Equity Investments, Manager of Fixed Income & Bonds, Manager of Venture & Private Equity, Manager of Risk & Compliance, Director of Portfolio Strategy & Analytics, before his own position: Director of Investor Relations.

Of course there were many more under him, but with him being so low amongst the important people, and not even earning the poison, it wouldn't inconvenience the H.O.D to demote him as he asked.

Dylan just stared at her as she glared back at him.

So why was she saying no?
