Chapter 55 - The Road to Kingship

The Lizardmen tribe held a grand banquet, and a deep green male Lizardmen was enjoying a tender moment with a beautiful white Lizardmen, their tails unconsciously intertwined.

The hero Salius and the most priest-talented Kou'erxiu formed a bond during this battle, and their feelings quickly warmed after the war. It was believed that at this rate, there would soon be little Lizardmen babies.

It was a pity that things never went as expected, and their Lizardmen would face the worst situation in history.

Dark clouds obscured the sun above the village, and a fierce, biting cold wind began to blow. Undead equipped with golden magic items formed columns, and a powerful oppressive Aura surged forth, like a mythical army.

"How is this possible!"

"It's absolutely impossible to win, right…"

Such exclamations rose one after another. Then, from among the skeletons, a person in shining black armor walked out. No skin was exposed on his body, and by his figure, he seemed to be human.

But if he were merely human, would he emit such a heart-palpitating Aura? Many Lizardmen were already trembling, and even Salius himself felt the same way.

"Brother, what do you think that is?" The tribal chief, Xasliu, walked to his side.

Salius suppressed his fear and slowly shook his head, "I don't know. I've never seen anything like that."

"He shouldn't be human, right? He's like a natural enemy," Kou'erxiu closed her red eyes to hide the fear in her heart, but her slightly trembling hands betrayed her true thoughts at that moment.

As they spoke, Sig's magic was already prepared. As MP was drained, a huge magic circle appeared a few meters above the sky.

Then a scaled claw emerged from it, and this magic was clearly not yet complete. After another claw appeared, the magic circle shattered, and with a crisp sound, cracks seemed to appear in the sky.

White mist began to permeate the surroundings, and the crackling sounds grew heavier. The moisture in the air turned into ice crystals and fell from the sky, as if it were raining.

"What in the world is this? Is he a magic caster!" Kou'erxiu couldn't understand anything in front of her. A person who was clearly a warrior actually used magic that was completely incomprehensible. She couldn't even begin to think about what was happening.

Finally, a Frost Dragon fully descended. Its ice-blue scales, beautiful posture, and majestic demeanor, when gazed upon by those ice-crystal-clear eyes, seemed to draw away one's soul.

In front of such a terrifying existence, the Lizardmen were utterly unable to move; they didn't even have the thought of escaping.

Sig looked up at the Ice Dragon, his low voice seeming to be audible only to himself, "Begin."

Since the opening task was entrusted to him, he would do it well. After all, this represented the face of Nazarick.

The Ice Dragon respectfully nodded, circled and flew to a high point, and a white-hot light emanated from its throat. After only a few seconds of charging, a breath of white mist was expelled, and the lake froze almost instantly.

In the center of the lake, directly facing the breath, a small mountain completely made of ice appeared, eventually forming a platform.

The Lizardmen were also affected. Even though they quickly retreated from the lake, many Lizardmen's feet were frostbitten, and a biting pain constantly spread.

[Ice Resistance]

The priests began to help the injured heal, and the situation stabilized slightly. Salius, however, clearly knew that they were finished, and the Lizardmen were finished.

A person who could command the strongest race—Dragons—was definitely not an existence they could contend with. Just one Dragon could destroy the Lizardmen several times over.

This was what was called the Supreme Beings, simply a monster among monsters.

"Perhaps this is the legendary Dragon Knight?"

It was said that the Council State had people who fought on Dragons, those were the so-called Dragon Knight. However, the Dragon in front of them clearly exceeded the scope of understanding. Even the legendary Dragon Emperor would have a fighting chance.

"They are not on the same level at all…"

After completing its task, the Ice Dragon stopped on the platform, its head slightly lowered backward. The skeletons also began to stack up layer by layer, looking like cockroaches from above.

But no one was laughing now. A king's road was thus built. Walking in front was a person in a luxurious black robe, dressed similarly to a Death Archmage, with a skull-like face, exuding an evil Aura. This was the Ruler of Death.

"How is this possible? Could it be that he is the Supreme Beings!" Salius wailed.

So, are there really many people who can freeze the lake? Was the person just now merely his subordinate?

Soon, the Dragon Knight appeared in sight. He walked behind the Ruler of Death, only half a step behind him, the two almost walking side by side.

For some reason, Salius actually let out a sigh of relief.

Immediately after, the pure white demon slowly walked out, followed by the Dark Elf Twins, the silver-haired girl, and the human male with a tail, appearing one by one.

With a tap of the staff on the ground, two thrones appeared on the platform, one slightly larger and one slightly smaller. Ainz and Sig took their seats, one in front of the other.

Ainz murmured, "Next, I should summon them for questioning."

Sig, now seated, shifted into a comfortable position, crossing his arms over his chest, neither confirming nor denying.

Originally, he had not intended to participate in this event, but everyone else disagreed. He roughly understood that Ainz wanted a backup, and to avoid making things difficult for the Guardians, he simply agreed.

It was Albedo's suggestion that he should open the scene, and there were ample reasons for it.

Sig had a natural deterrent effect on Lizardmen, and a similar effect on reptiles in general, like a natural predator.

His immediate appearance could effectively curb the Lizardmen's arrogance, make them understand the disparity in combat power, and thus dismantle any thoughts of resistance, killing two birds with one stone.

In reality, seeing Nazarick's lineup like this, no one would want to resist, would they? Not fleeing was already using their greatest strength.

Looking at Albedo's heart-filled eyes, Sig ultimately couldn't bear to contradict her. He hadn't allocated any time to her since returning this time, and of course, there were also strong demands from many Guardians, including Shalltear, Mare, and Aura. Cocytus also hoped he would lead the charge.

Ainz was too kind-hearted, so he naturally had no objections. It just needed to be grand and awe-inspiring, without too much effort.

Grand and awe-inspiring? Sig almost couldn't resist punching Ainz. Was that still considered no demands!

After Ainz's conversation with the Lizardmen concluded, Sig decided to leave and not watch the subsequent battle. After all, it was a slaughter of weak opponents, and there was no way it would go wrong. He had other matters to attend to.

"Are you ready?" The message was sent.

"Yes, Lord Sig," came a voice identical to Sig's from the person in silver-blue armor.
