Chapter 4 - Weeping of Argahan Chapter 3

The conversation moved to a spacious, carefully furnished room on the upper floor of the inn.

Morning light streamed through the windows, reflecting off the heavy wooden table and filling the room with a warm sense of calm. Aelir sat in a corner chair, trying to hide his excitement.

The old Gurkant poured himself a cup of tea and smiled.

— "Do you remember, Cedric… when we were trapped in that narrow pass on the northern slopes of Argahan?" he asked.

Count Cedric let out a deep sigh, a wistful smile appearing on his lips.

— "How could I forget? We were surrounded by enemies, with no chance to retreat. If at that moment… you hadn't been there…"

Gurkant raised his hand to interrupt.

— "Come now, don't exaggerate. Even without me, you would have found a way."

— "No, Gurkant," said Cedric firmly. "I know I owe my life to you that day. That's why, when we returned, I offered you the special knighthood."

Aelir's eyes widened.

— "You… really met during a battle?" he asked in awe.

— "Yes, my child," said Gurkant, with a hint of pride. "But I've long since retired from fighting. The quiet of this inn suits me better than the clang of swords."

Cedric nodded.

— "Despite everything, you're still my old friend. And I must admit, the taste of the tea here is even better than the wines at the palace."

They both laughed and clinked their cups together.

As Aelir absorbed the scene, the warmth of a friendship forged in the harshness of war filled the room.

Cedric Espera and Laura, after finishing their conversation, stood up. Cedric walked toward Aelir and placed a hand on his shoulder.

— "You are truly a remarkable child, Aelir. Today, the maturity and composure you showed have spoken volumes to me. Even this brief meeting reveals your potential," he said.

Laura smiled and added,

— "Yes, Aelir. It was wonderful to meet you. I hope we meet again someday."

Cedric headed toward the inn's door, turning back for one last look at Aelir.

— "Remember, this is only the beginning. Take care of yourself and always remain eager to learn. Until we meet again, young friend."

Aelir watched them leave through the door, his heart filled with both excitement and admiration. Silently, he thought,

Maybe I really am lucky.
