In Coldwater Village, weddings were simple. No grand robes, no wealthy banquets. Only furs, torches, and the blessings of survival.
When Tian and Yuexin announced their union, many villagers were surprised—but none objected. Those who had once mocked Tian now respected his perseverance. The elder himself presided, declaring the bond rightful.
The celebration took place under the central bonfire, villagers feasting on hunted hare and boar, drums echoing beneath cold stars.
Yuexin wore a dress sewn of white pelts, decorated with small beads strung from river stones. Tian, awkward in wolf-hide coat, could not stop trembling—not from cold, but nerves.
"You face beasts without fear," Yuexin teased softly, standing before him as they exchanged vows. "But you tremble before me?"
He chuckled weakly, then lifted her hand. "Because… beasts can only kill me. But you… you can break me forever."
A murmur of laughter swept the crowd. Then the elder raised his staff and declared:
"From tonight, Yuexin is no longer alone, and Leng Tian is no longer useless. They are family. Let frost and snow bind into eternal ice."
The villagers cheered, for in such harsh lands, even one marriage was hope for future strength. And Tian, heart pounding, kissed Yuexin before all.
Thus began the true foundation couple of the Leng Clan.
That Night
In their hut, newly bound, Tian whispered as she lay against him:
"From now until death and beyond… I will carry you across lives if I must."
Yuexin smiled faintly, eyes damp, before sleep embraced them both.
