They swam in the Blue Grotto, a sea cave where the sunlight, passing through an underwater cavity, creates a magical, ethereal blue light. And they rode the chairlift to the top of Monte Solaro, where they were rewarded with a breathtaking view of the island and the Bay of Naples.
But it was on the Amalfi Coast that they found their true paradise.
They rented a small villa in the town of Positano, a colorful village that seemed to tumble down the cliffside to the sea. They spent their days lounging on the beach, swimming in the clear, warm water, and exploring the town's narrow, winding streets.
They ate fresh seafood at a restaurant overlooking the sea, their conversation a happy, lazy murmur in the warm, salty air. And they watched the sunset every evening, the sky a brilliant canvas of orange, pink, and gold.
