Chapter 2736 - Ch: 1-10

I Became Henry Cavill' Wolverine in the Marvel Universe

Chapter 1 I changed my name, and I became stronger

Logan changed his name to Logan.

Doesn't that sound a bit cheesy?

But his last name isn't Luo and first name Gen; rather, his first name is Logan and his last name is Howlett. He could also be called James.

That's right, doesn't hearing this name sound very familiar? Perhaps you might conjure up an image of Hugh Jackman's face in your mind?

But it's not.

Unlike every other Wolverine sporting Hugh Jackman's face, he bears a face strikingly similar to Henry Cavill's.

Yes, it's that fleeting Cavillverine in the movie Deadpool & Wolverine, among the various Wolverines Deadpoolencounters while constantly shuttling through Worlds to find a Logan who could replace the one in their Universe.

He seemed even more burly and even more hot-tempered than the other Wolverines.

He possessed the super healing factor, Adamantiumskeleton and claws, and animal-level acute senses that all Wolverines have. Plus one more thing—Beast-level strength.

Of course, besides his abilities, he also developed addictions to smoking, drinking, and motorcycles.

Doesn't that sound cool?

If your life was a mess, and then you time-traveled and got a chance to start over, you might be very Happy.

But he didn't think so.

Because his life before transmigrating was pretty good. At a young age, he had already started lying flat, enjoying life almost every day, playing games whenever he wanted, and dating whenever he wanted. No need to get married, no need to go to work. Would you trade such a life even if an immortal offered theirs?

Well, let's not kid ourselves, you certainly would trade it for an immortal's life.

Well, although Wolverine is cool, and superpowers are cool, it sounds like you can do whatever you want? Well, try it then, and you won't even make a peep once you do.

Mutants also need to eat, drink, and shit, and Supermanalso gets headaches over mortgages.

Just like Logan now, penniless, his income and savings going either to smoking or drinking, or else modifying that damn heavy cruiser harley, which the original body loved most.

Therefore, he had no money to eat.

It had been 7 days since he transmigrated, and yesterday, unable to control his nicotine craving, he bought a box of cigars that the original body loved to smoke, spending the last bit of money on him, so annoyed that he wanted to tear apart that damn motorcycle.

But in the end, he couldn't bear to do it.

"Sigh..."

Letting out a long sigh, Logan unscrewed his flask and took a hard gulp. If it were before he transmigrated, just a drop would knock him out. Now, it was nothing more than mouthwash.

He spent three days reluctantly accepting the fact that he had transmigrated and checking whether he had the standard golden finger for transmigrators, but came up empty-handed.

Then he spent four days, up until today, sorting out the original body's interpersonal relationships, abilities, and general information about this World.

I have to say, it was extremely speechless—so speechless that he really wanted to go home.

Alas, although he had thought about it many times, he still couldn't help wondering how his parents were doing, and who the college student he had just gotten his hands on would benefit.

Ring-ring——

The landline rang, and Logan picked up the phone, "Who is this?"

"Logan Howlett." The voice on the other end of the phone was a woman's, husky and magnetic; she certainly wouldn't look bad.

"That's me."

"Your interview has passed. Please report to Stark Towertomorrow morning at 9 sharp."

"OK, wait, don't hang up yet. I want to ask, can I get an advance on my salary?"

"..." Seeming to hear such a request for the first time, the other person was clearly stunned for a moment, and then he heard her say, "Yes."

"Alright, thank you."

After hanging up the phone, Logan rubbed his face, mentally f-cking this damn World.

Listen to that, Stark Tower. Anyone who didn't know would think this was the Marvel Universe from the comics.

In reality, who knows which bastard had too much time on their hands and imagined this stitched-together Universe.

Its main body was the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Why was he so sure? Because Stark had Downey's face.

Then, the branches and tendrils of this main body were mixed with some movies he had or hadn't watched before transmigrating, because some characters who shouldn't have appeared were living perfectly fine in this World.

Known examples include: Norman Osborn, Eddie Brock, Charles Xavier, Eric Brooks, and—John Wick.

Isn't it absurd? This guy was living right next door to him now; his wife hadn't gotten cancer yet, the two of them raised a French Bulldog, and the car they drove out was a '69 Ford Mustang.

No matter how absurd it was, Logan couldn't be bothered to think about what the future would hold; right now he was only thinking about how to find a stable job, satisfy his hobbies, and fill his belly.

The next day, at 8:30 AM.

Logan rode his motorcycle to Stark Tower. After registering at the front desk, he followed the directions to the Human Resources office. After filling out a simple form, he was led all the way to the 36th floor by the other person.

Pushing open the door, scattered fitness equipment came into view, and a boxing ring was placed right in the center.

"Mr. Stark, the person has been brought over."

Tony, who was hitting the punching bag, slowly turned his head. Seeing Logan's build, he couldn't help raising an eyebrow, "You're really built. Hope you're not just all show with dead muscles. Come on, spar with me. If you pass, you stay; if you don't, go report to the security department."

Logan hesitated upon hearing this, a little afraid that he wouldn't be able to control his strength and would beat this future Iron Man to death.

"Mr. Stark, I think you could let me hit the punching bag first, and then we can make a decision?"

Tony didn't commit, shaking his head at him.

Logan didn't talk nonsense either, striding up to the punching bag and throwing a punch.

Bang——

Tony and the HR lady looked in astonishment at the punching bag shattered all over the floor, unable to help swallowing hard.

"Hired! Must be hired!"

Logan clapped his hands and said, "If you don't mind, I'd like to eat some breakfast."

In the lounge, three breakfasts were sent up.

Tony looked at the wolfing-down Logan in front of him, his mouth twitching, couldn't help imagining that if he punched him, he would probably beat himself to death, right?

Having enjoyed a hearty meal, Logan comfortably lit a cigar, casually tossed one to Tony, and then leisurely blew a ring of smoke.

Picking up the cigar, Tony fiddled with it while saying with annoyance, "You guy, you don't even have the awareness of a real bodyguard yet."

Logan chuckled, "Mr. Stark, you should be Happy instead. With me around, it'll be hard for you to get hurt in the future."

Tony couldn't help nodding upon hearing this, having to admit that the guy in front of him really had some skills. If it hadn't felt too presumptuous, he even wanted to draw a tube of blood from him to see what was going on with this guy and what he grew up eating.

Anyway, ever since Happy went back to his hometown to get married, he truly needed a qualified bodyguard. Although the guy in front of him looked a bit casual in personality, that strength of his was solidly and genuinely powerful.

Just like that, on May 3, 2005, Logan officially became Tony's bodyguard.

And on his very first day of work, Logan drew a month's salary in advance—$200,000.

And in this year, the price of crude oil per barrel in the New York futures market was $33.78.

His income had already crushed many white-collar elites; who told his boss to have the last name Stark?

Perhaps Tony wasn't the richest boss in the World, but he was a very generous boss.

Then why was he so generous?

Because almost all of his bodyguards had died, leaving basically only Happy. Sometimes money wasn't just paying your salary, it might also be money to buy your life.

After all, as the World's largest weapons developer, the extent to which Tony was hated was almost self-evident.

If you don't believe it, go ask that bunch of assassins at the Continental Hotel if they've ever accepted an anonymous commission regarding Tony Stark!

Chapter 2 Jean Grey

The reason Logan applied to be Tony's bodyguard was naturally because of money; could it possibly be because he wanted to be a superhero?

Build a good relationship with the future Iron Man? You've got to be kidding.

Even if he changed Worlds, he only wanted to lie flat.

Fighting and killing, saving the World and such things—isn't it better to leave them to those responsible superheroes?

Besides, although his abilities weren't weak, they weren't all that strong either.

His health-lock cheat (super-healing factor) was powerful, but at most he could only fight the likes of Captain America or Hawkeye; he might not even be able to beat the Hulk, let alone the likes of Thanos or Galactus.

Therefore, peace of mind in lying flat—sayings like "with great power comes great responsibility" were just meant to fool those hot-blooded youngsters.

His thought was, if the sky falls, the tall guys will hold it up anyway.

As for himself, he might as well just be someone who muddled along waiting to die.

Wait a minute, normally speaking, he probably wouldn't even wait until he died, right?

Think about how the original body was born in 1832 and had lived for 173 years.

He couldn't help but feel a bit exasperated; sometimes being able to live wasn't necessarily a good thing.

But anyway, since he had money now, he should enjoy himself.

Consequently, Logan stockpiled a bunch of whiskey and cigars, bought an ice maker, a coffee machine, a television, a washing machine, and all sorts of other machines, spending roughly a third of his money.

At least his home wasn't completely empty anymore, which also allowed him to peacefully sink into the most comfortable deep sleep he'd had since crossing over, right on his newly bought bed.

The next day, Logan came to work at Stark Tower without wearing that standard-issue black-sunglasses bodyguard suit.

He wore a flight jacket on his upper body, with a bulging white tank top underneath stretched tight by his muscles. Around his neck hung a necklace; looking closely at the pendant, one would find it consisted of two dog tags, engraved with the original body's enlistment dates and names for World War I and World War II.

On his lower body were a pair of black cargo pants, and on his feet were a pair of black combat boots.

With a look like this, he resembled a retired soldier much more than a bodyguard.

Regarding Logan's fashion sense, Tony merely curled his lips, forcibly suppressing the urge to complain, and could only comfort himself by thinking that capable people all had such eccentric personalities.

‒Boss, if you want to complain, just complain; don't hold your words back. It's easy to bottle up internal injuries.‒

Logan didn't care what others said; as long as he was comfortable himself, that was all that mattered.

Hearing this, Tony rolled his eyes. ‒You guy really are carefree. Do you know that if you wore this outfit to those private cocktail parties or high-end banquets, people would stop you as an intruder?‒

Logan shrugged with an indifferent expression. ‒Aren't you here, Boss? If I follow you, where can't I get in?‒

Tony rubbed his face, unable to help comforting himself. Even though this guy looked a bit like a scoundrel, he couldn't deny that he had genuine skills.

Logan didn't waste words either; he would make Tonyunderstand what getting more than what you paid for meant.

Therefore, over the next month, he cleared three kidnappings and two assassinations for Tony. Each resolution happened almost in the blink of an eye.

Anyway, even injuries from a nuclear bomb were things he could recover from; ordinary firearms weren't even worth glancing at in his eyes. Coupled with the combat skills the original body had honed from warfare, dealing with these ordinary people was simply too easy.

After this month, Tony had to admit that he had indeed struck gold. Although this guy's personality was overly free and lazy, as long as his core duties were fulfilled, everything else didn't matter.

Furthermore, he had to admit that he actually quite liked this guy.

Because past bodyguards had always been utterly respectful to him, even overly flattering and pretentious.

But Logan was different. This guy was so casual that sometimes he didn't treat Tony as his employer at all, acting more like friends bantering and getting along naturally.

For Tony, who didn't have many friends, this was very rare and precious.

If Logan knew what Tony was thinking, he would only say, everyone was born of parents, why wrong oneself just to please others?

Just like that, Logan began a vastly leisurely life. When there was work, he stayed by Tony's side; when there was no work, he rode his motorcycle around, or occasionally fished. Of course, cigarettes and alcohol never left his hands, but anyway, with his super-healing factor, it was hard for him to get sick anyway.

However, this peaceful life did not last long before it was shattered by the arrival of a certain person.

On this day, Logan packed up his empty fishing gear, rode his motorcycle back home, greeted Mr. and Mrs. John, parked his bike, and as he walked up to his front door, his footsteps paused.

Beast-level sharp senses told him there was someone inside the house.

He lightly pressed against the door, strained his ear to listen to the movement inside, cautiously inserted the key, and gently turned the doorknob.

As the door was pushed open, a figure sitting upright in the living room came into view, causing his originally tense body to relax.

He lit a cigar, leisurely walked over to sit on the sofa opposite the visitor, and said lazily, ‒Isn't this Jean? Tell me, what business do you have coming to find me?‒

‒Can't I come to see you just because I have nothing better to do?‒

Jean Grey, with her long wine-red hair and stunning appearance, wore a smile on her face.

‒Do you believe those words?‒

Logan curled his lip. According to the original body's memories, whenever Jean Grey came looking for him, nothing good ever came of it. The original body was also a fool, getting scammed so many times yet still taking pleasure in it.

Jean Grey wasn't awkward at all, keeping a smile on her face. ‒Shouldn't you ask me what I'd like to drink?‒

Logan forcibly suppressed the urge to roll his eyes and said indifferently, ‒Coffee, alcohol, what do you want to drink? There's no milk at home, and no juice either.‒

‒James, you've changed.‒

Jean Grey carefully scrutinized Logan for a moment, then sighed, ‒In the past, you would only ask what happened.‒

‒You said it yourself, that was in the past.‒

Logan exhaled a puff of smoke, grinned to reveal his wolf-like sharp teeth, ‒I have a proper job now, why would I go out of my way to do those thankless things?‒

Jean Grey stared at him quietly for a moment. After confirming his attitude, the smile on her face faded as she slowly stood up. ‒Alright, I won't come to disturb you anymore in the future.‒

‒Be my guest.‒

Logan didn't care in the least. The original body's relationships weren't his relationships; why should he care? He was Luo Xiu, not Logan; inheriting the original owner's body didn't mean he also had to inherit the original owner's relationships.

Jean Grey left, returning to Xaviers School.

Ororo, with her flowing silver hair and dark skin that couldn't conceal her stunning beauty, walked towards her with a hint of anticipation on her face. ‒How was it, did he come?‒

As she spoke, she looked past Jean's back, but didn't see any other figure.

‒He refused.‒

Jean shook her head. ‒It seems we can only rely on ourselves for this matter.‒

Ororo wore a look of disappointment, bit her lip, and after a moment of silence, as if she had made up her mind, said, ‒I'll go find him!‒

Jean looked utterly astonished. ‒Aren't you...‒

‒We can't just watch those students get dissected as lab rats!‒

Chapter 3 Ororo

Logan was just preparing to fall asleep when a knock on the door sounded. He checked the time on the alarm clock: 00:05. Suppressing the irritability of having his drowsiness interrupted, he got up to open the door, and just as he was about to vent his anger, he suppressed it upon seeing clearly who the visitor was.

"Why are you here?"

The visitor squeezed into the room, glanced around at the furnishings that were different from the past as well as the new furniture, and wore a half-smile. "You're living pretty well. It seems you've made some money."

Logan closed the door and said indifferently upon hearing this, "Can't just not eat or drink, right? You think everyone is like you guys, getting a salary from Charles?"

"If you're willing, it's not impossible; Charles has always appreciated you." The visitor sat down leisurely, as if completely lacking the self-awareness of being an outsider.

Work for the X-Men? Stop messing around, this kind of hard-earned money risking life and limb isn't even as good as working at a fast-food restaurant.

Logan curled his lip and changed the subject, "Didn't you say you didn't want to see me anymore? Why are you here again."

The visitor didn't drag things out either, slowly standing up, swaying her sexy waist, standing on tiptoe to reach out, and wrapping her arms around his neck, "Logan, help me."

"Didn't Jean tell you, Ororo?" Logan couldn't help turning his head away, dodging the approaching kiss.

Ororo Munroe, nicknamed Storm, was one of the original body's ex-girlfriends. Because she couldn't tolerate some of the original body's living habits, she had been harshly chewed out by the short-tempered original body, and hysterically stated that she never wanted to see him again.

"Listen, Logan, we can not talk about these things for now."

Saying this, Ororo straightened Logan's face, and her lips instantly pressed onto his.

Logan had also been suppressing his physiological impulses and hadn't vented them for a while, and this completely broke his defense.

The two of them had a seamless and natural tryst overnight, melting even the toughest steel into absolute tenderness.

Having calculated everything but not expecting the opponent's seduction, Logan slowly sighed after opening his eyes the next day.

Now, not helping was out of the question; they had already slept together, could he possibly renege on the debt? But speaking of which, the original body really was blessed. Despite having dark skin, her appearance wasn't bad, with curves in all the right places, and compared to his memories, her figure seemed even better.

With a bit of aftertaste, he smacked his lips, got up, and began making breakfast for himself and her.

Two servings of fried eggs and two ham sandwiches, he drank whiskey while she drank milk (there was milk, he lied to Jean).

When Ororo finished washing up, barely supporting her sore body and swollen lower body to sit at the dining table, she looked at Logan opposite her who acted like nothing happened, rolled her eyes, and silently cursed him as a beast. Then she started eating breakfast by herself.

She picked up the ham sandwich and took a vicious bite, as if treating it like Logan.

After finishing breakfast, Logan, who had a strong nicotine addiction, lit a cigar and said, "Speak, what is it."

Seeing that they were getting down to business, Ororo let out a sigh of relief in her heart and said seriously, "Two days ago, William Stryker raided Xaviers School and took away some children. Professor and Scott are currently not at the academy, and with just Jean and me, there's no way we can rescue those children. Therefore, I came to ask for your help."

Hearing this, Logan wore a weird expression. Storm and Dark Phoenix couldn't rescue a group of children? Two Omega-level Mutants, and they had to ask him, an Alpha-level Mutant, for help?

However, considering that their powers hadn't reached the Omega-level yet, and given that they were glass cannons themselves, it wasn't completely incomprehensible.

As for why the original body was an Alpha-level instead of the normal Wolverine's Beta-class? Speaking of which, it was because after he transmigrated, his soul strength suppressed the bestiality within his body and allowed him to freely control his abilities, elevating him from the flawed Beta-class to the Alpha-level tier.

Returning to the main topic, having made the decision to agree, Logan didn't drag things out and nodded to agree to Ororo's request. The latter immediately pulled him to board the X-Men's aircraft, which landed at Xaviers School.

When Jean looked at Logan coming over together with Ororo, the expression on her face was somewhat unsightly, and even her greeting looked a bit awkward and cold.

Logan couldn't be bothered to care about this, though Ororo felt a bit embarrassed. However, this didn't affect the three of them discussing the rescue plan.

A map was taken out by Jean, and she pointed to Alkali Lake in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, Maple Leaf Country. "I have confirmed that Stryker's research Base is right here, and those kids must be locked up here by him. After the three of us arrive shortly, Logan, you will be responsible for the main attack, while I and Ororo will be responsible for coordination and support."

Logan held the cigar in his mouth and nodded, having no objections to this arrangement. He expressed approval for his tactical positioning as a frontline warrior and tank.

Smelling the smoke, Jean coughed, glared fiercely at Logan, and said coldly, "Since there are no problems, let's set off."

Having said that, she left with heavy footsteps.

Seeing this scene, Logan asked Ororo in puzzlement, "Did she reach menopause recently? She seems to be only around 30 years old, right?"

"You ask me, who do I ask?" Ororo wore an embarrassed expression, and then followed Jean as well.

Before long, the three of them boarded that stealthy Blackbird fighter jet and flew towards the Rocky Mountains.

Meanwhile, inside the dam Base.

Stryker looked at these Mutant children kidnapped from Xaviers School, hatred and greed flashing in his eyes.

Once the equipment was calibrated, he would immediately send these children to the operating table for dissection and research.

Mutants can only serve as weapons; they are not normal people, they are the cancer of society!

Starting from his son causing his wife to commit suicide, Stryker had already fallen into a rational madness.

Just as he intended to go to another laboratory cultivating Weapon X, the dam's alarm suddenly sounded.

He hurriedly pulled over a hurrying guard and asked sternly, "What is going on?"

"Officer, someone has invaded the Base. To ensure your safety, please leave here immediately!"

Stryker laughed out of anger, "I'd like to see who has such guts to proactively come knocking."

On the other side, Logan pulled his steel claws out of a guard's chest without the slightest psychological burden, and then rushed toward three approaching guards. In the gap before the opponents could fire, his left hand cleanly sliced off the guns in their hands, while his right hand swept across the necks of the three, blood splashing everywhere.

At this moment, he was like a precision killing machine; within a few breaths, the corridor was already littered with corpses.

Ororo and Jean, following closely behind him, couldn't help exchanging glances. It wasn't like they hadn't seen Logan's previous fights, where he would just rely on his abilities to charge recklessly. How could it be as clean and neat as it was now?

Both of them were very curious: during this time they hadn't seen each other, what on earth had Loganexperienced to make him change so much?

If Logan knew their thoughts, he would probably roll his eyes and then ask them a question in return.

"Do you understand what Heavenly Dynasty martial arts are?"

Chapter 4: Golden Finger

Indeed, before Logan time-traveled, back when he was still called Luo Xiu, he was born into a family of martial arts, and since childhood, he was trained by Grandpa to master formidable martial arts such as Baji, Bagua, and Xingyi. Although not yet at the pinnacle of perfection, he could be considered to have crossed the threshold.

If he had been born in ancient times of the Celestial Empire, relying on his exceptional martial arts to secure noble titles for his wife and children would not have been a problem. It was just a pity that he was born in the modern era, where weapons were stored in the armories and horses were released to the mountains—a time of peace.

Traditional martial arts were declining day by day, leaving no soil for them to survive.

Fortunately, Luo Xiu time-traveled and became Logan, otherwise all his martial arts would have had nowhere to be applied.

In his past life, he relied on his martial arts to stream live, specializing in dueling with various anti-counterfeiting bloggers to defend the reputation of traditional martial arts.

He had also given a severe beating to fraudulent traditional martial arts swindlers who deceived the world and stole a name, such as a certain Master Ma. Afterwards, this fellow complained that he came to cheat and ambush him, a 69-year-old old comrade.

Had Logan seen blood before time-traveling? Naturally, he had. He had even assisted the Armed Police in capturing drug traffickers, seen weapons, and witnessed dead people. This was also why he felt not the slightest psychological burden when killing these guards.

With his foundation in traditional martial arts, combined with the original body's physique and abilities, it was like adding wings to a tiger. This was also the reason why Ororo and Jean were astonished at why his change was so drastic.

Soon, under Logan's suppression by force, Ororo's weather manipulation, and Jean's telepathic assistance, the three of them arrived outside the heavy experimental gate.

At this moment, the surveillance camera on the gate aimed at the three of them, and the broadcasting equipment on the door emitted Stryker's voice: "Logan, I did not expect it to actually be you. How long has it been since we last met? Thirty years?"

"William, at a time like this, there is no need to reminisce, right?" Logan rubbed his claws and used the residual heat to light a cigar, saying coldly, "Are you going to release those children, or should I go in and drag them out myself?"

"Logan, oh Logan, you are always so impatient." Strykerchuckled, his tone relaxed, "Do you think that just with the three of you, you can rescue those children? You have no idea what I have done these past thirty years."

Logan raised an eyebrow, unable to figure out where Stryker got his confidence from. Mastermind Jason? Lady Deathstrike Yuriko Oyama?

He could not be bothered to talk nonsense with the other party either, popping his steel claws and slashing right at the lock of the gate.

The heavy gate was slowly pushed open. What came into view for the three of them was an Asian woman dressed in a black combat suit that wrapped around her exquisite figure, pushing a wheelchair on which sat a man who looked foolish and dazed.

As expected, Mastermind and Lady Deathstrike.

Logan bit the cigar to the other side and whispered to Jean, "That man who looks like he has senile dementia has the ability to create near-real illusions; watch out for his mental intrusion and sensory manipulation. Ororo, use your abilities to coordinate with Jean; as long as this guy's limbs suffer physical damage, his ability will be interrupted. As for that woman, leave her to me."

Hearing this, although the two women were surprised at why Logan knew the other party's abilities so well, they did not ask much, because now was not the time to ask such questions.

The next moment, Logan hooked his fingers at Yuriko Oyama. The latter raised an eyebrow, and the fingernails on both hands instantly elongated into claws, the metallic reflection indicating that her claws were also made of Adamantium.

Logan closed in and pressed forward. Adamantiumcolliding with Adamantium sent sparks flying everywhere. The opponent also possessed a healing factor, so the combat style when the two fought was basically trading injuries for injuries.

However, with the bonus of traditional martial arts and the enhancement of Beast-level strength, Logan was in a state of nearly suppressing Lady Deathstrike.

He was well aware that the other party's healing ability simply could not compare to his most orthodox super healing factor; once the upper limit of her healing was breached, her body would inevitably collapse on its own.

On the other side, Jean and Jason fell into a mental contest, and blood began to ooze from both of their noses.

Keeping Logan's instructions in mind, Ororo used her ability to transform the air into cumulus clouds and released a small ice storm to sweep over Jason.

Disturbed by external forces, Jason's ability collapsed on its own and he was defeated and controlled by Jean.

The battle on Logan's side had also reached its end. With a move of Fierce Tiger Hard Climbs the Mountain, he caused the opponent to be briefly dazed, and then slashed off her head with a claw.

At that very moment, a prompt suddenly popped up in his mind.

'Detected enemy killed dropped x-factor, absorb or not?'

Golden Finger?!

Without time to think further, Logan immediately chose yes.

The next second, an intangible power surged into his body, and he felt that his super healing factor and Adamantiummetal skeleton had been strengthened to a certain extent.

To verify that he was not hallucinating, he walked over to Jason and pierced his neck with his steel claws, and the prompt sounded again.

'Detected enemy killed dropped x-factor, absorb or not?'

Suppressing his excitement without showing his emotions, Logan chose yes. After that, he acquired Jason's mental illusion ability, with the additional abilities of mental intrusion and sensory manipulation inherent to the power itself.

Although the ability was still only at the lowest Epsilon-class, as long as he absorbed enough x-factor in the future, the ability would gradually upgrade up to Omega-level.

Once he absorbed enough abilities, would that mean he would become omnipotent like Apocalypse?

Thinking of this, Logan suddenly felt that it seemed he did not necessarily have to slack off.

Having solved Mastermind and Lady Deathstrike, Strykeralso made no further moves. The three of them came to the laboratory where the children were locked up and broke through the door.

"Kitty, Bob, Warren..."

"Teacher Jean, Teacher Ororo."

The children, who had been frightened for days, excitedly swarmed around, while casting curious glances at Loganby their side.

Logan could not be bothered to deal with children and turned to walk outside. He was going to find Stryker and wipe this guy out, lest this fellow turn around and put a bounty on him, ruining the job he had managed to find with difficulty.

Along the way through the doors, Logan found Stryker, who was preparing to leave surrounded by several guards.

When they saw Logan, they raised their guns without hesitation.

But the next moment, their gazes became blank and dull.

Seeing this scene, Stryker's expression changed drastically: "You..."

Before he could finish speaking, Logan had already grabbed him by the neck, forcing him to swallow back the rest of his words: "We are old friends, so I will show mercy and not make things bloody."

With that, amidst Stryker's terrified gaze, he snapped his neck with a twist.

Slowly exhaling a puff of smoke, Logan smiled and waved his hand, whereupon the controlled guards all raised their guns and committed suicide.

Looking at this scene, he could not help but deepen his smile.

Not bad at all, this trip was definitely worth it.

Originally, he had made up his mind not to get involved in these matters, but now it seemed there was a reason he had to participate.

If possible, who would not want to be able to gallop willfully and freely across this Universe? To be able to say to anyone that I do not eat beef?

The upper limit that could be seen at a glance previously left him with no motivation to continue striving.

But the arrival of the golden finger allowed him to see hope.

Chapter 5 White Queen

The Blackbird jet carried the calmed children back to Xaviers School.

A group of children who had not been abducted had already gathered around, asking their friends how they were doing.

Logan followed behind Jean and Ororo. As soon as he got off the aircraft, he saw Scott, wearing his Cyclops visor, pushing Charles in a silver wheelchair coming toward them.

Watching Scott's body tense up at the sight of him, he sneered inwardly, recalling that the conflict between the original body and this guy was none other than Jean. Jean seemed to have some ambiguous, unspoken feelings toward the original body, which was also one of the reasons that led to arguments between Ororo and the original body. As for Scott liking Jean, it was practically common knowledge, but unfortunately, Jean simply refused to make her stance clear. Thus, the original body naturally ended up being hated by the guy without exception.

"Logan, long time no see." Charles smiled gently, carrying the joy of reuniting with an old friend and gratitude for the rescue of the children, "We really owe it to you this time; otherwise, the fate of these kids probably wouldn't be too good."

"Instead of thanking me, you might as well thank Ororo." Logan bit down on his cigar and raised an eyebrow.

This remark made Ororo blush uncontrollably, and also caused Jean to turn her head away in displeasure.

Charles chuckled, "Thanking you and thanking Ororodoesn't make any difference anyway."

Logan shrugged noncommittally. Seeing that it was getting late, he took the opportunity to say goodbye, "The people are saved, and the matter is done. I should get going too."

Just as he was about to turn around, Charles called out to him, "Logan, although I've said it many times, I still want to ask you: do you want to join the X-Men?"

Logan waved his hand without even turning his head back.

Watching his receding figure, Charles couldn't help but sigh.

"Professor, there's no need to waste your thoughts on him." Scott's tone carried a hint of disgust, "This guy has degraded himself, always cares only about his own business, and doesn't give a damn about the affairs of our race. You've invited him so many times, and he has never agreed. Is there still any point?"

This remark drew a glare from Ororo and a cold look from Jean, yet this guy was completely oblivious to it.

"Scott, Logan is very special. One day you will understand why I'm doing this." Charles said flatly, then fell into deep thought.

He had just tried to invade Logan's mind, only to find himself blocked by an invisible psychic barrier, preventing his mental abilities from advancing an inch.

What did this indicate?

It indicated that Logan had gained mental abilities; otherwise, how could he possibly have blocked his Alpha-level telepathy?

You must know that a Mutant's abilities are inherent, just like how the X gene inside his body only inherited a single memory—it was utterly impossible to spawn another ability. Such a situation was something he had never seen before.

Therefore, he was extremely curious about what on earth had happened to this old friend.

Logan didn't know that he had almost had his secret peeked into by Charles. If he had known, he couldn't help but harbor the thought of wiping the guy out. Even though the other party had always presented himself as a benevolent elder, and even though the other party's character wasn't bad, he certainly didn't dare to gamble.

Transmigration and his cheat code were his biggest secrets; once exposed, he would become the public enemy of all Mutants.

Returning to his home, Logan couldn't wait to start researching his cheat.

Through his observation and research, he discovered that this thing would only react when in contact with an x-factor.

In other words, this thing only targeted Mutants.

Realizing this, he became pensive.

If he chose to absorb, it meant he could absorb the other party's power. But that didn't mean he could fully acquire the other party's power; an upgrade of the ability would also take place.

Then how to upgrade? Perhaps the key lay in that "no" of the yes-or-no option.

Choosing "yes" meant you would absorb the other party's power; choosing "no" meant this x-factor would be stored and used to enhance your existing abilities.

Thinking of this, his eyes lit up. That being the case, he could completely choose the abilities he considered good to absorb. As for the bad ones, he could convert them into something like points to improve his own abilities.

Over time, wouldn't his powers all evolve to the Omega-level? By then, would there still be any opponents for him in this Universe?

With longing for the future, Logan slowly drifted off to sleep.

Until the next morning, when his cell phone ringtone went off.

He groggily answered it and heard Tony's voice coming from the other end, "Is my gold-medal bodyguard busy saving the World? It took you almost a day to answer my call! Do you know you've been truant from work?"

Logan only then remembered that he seemed not to have greeted Tony yesterday. He clicked his tongue, "It's just that I was too busy and didn't have time to mention it."

"Alright! Don't let this happen again, hurry up and get over here, I'm about to attend a banquet!"

Logan put away his phone, scratched his messy hair, finished washing up and having breakfast, and then rode his motorcycle toward Stark Tower.

When the employer and employee met, Tony's steps were still somewhat unsteady. Logan, an old hand, could tell at a glance that this guy had been put through the wringer last night, and a teasing smile immediately appeared at the corner of his mouth.

Tony noticed the expression on Logan's face and couldn't help blushing, "What are you looking at, you guy."

Logan shrugged, "Looking at how you overused your kidneys yesterday. One king and two queens wasn't too easy, was it?"

Tony, having been exposed, wasn't annoyed either, and cursed with a smile, "You think everyone is an animal like you? I'm a normal person."

Logan smiled and shifted the topic to the dinner party, "Whose banquet is it today? Looking at your outfit, it's quite formal."

"The Potts family's banquet." A flash of unusual emotion flickered in Tony's eyes, impossible to catch unless looked at closely.

Hearing this surname, Logan suddenly understood. Was today's banquet probably the opportunity for Pepper to enter Stark Industries?

Sure enough, following Tony to the banquet, Logan met this guy's future wife, Pepper Potts, who was introduced to Tony as an assistant by her uncle Morgan Potts.

After listening for a while to the mutual flattery among these celebrities and tycoons, he felt it was uninteresting and came to the buffet area, picked up a plate, and started eating by himself.

"James?"

Hearing someone call out this body's long-ago name, Logan turned his head in puzzlement. When he saw who it was, the expression on his face became somewhat peculiar, "What are you doing here?"

"I should be asking you that. Why are you here?" The newcomer looked Logan up and down, seeing that his attire was completely out of place here, and smiled quite playfully.

Logan took a bite of lobster, puckered his mouth toward Tony's direction, "I came with my employer."

"You're working as Stark's bodyguard now?" The newcomer was somewhat surprised, "Didn't you always dislike working for these rich folks?"

"What am I going to eat if I don't work?" Logan rolled his eyes, "Don't just talk about me, talk about you, EmmaFrost, what are you doing here??"

Emma Frost, a former member of the Hellfire Club, known by the title White Queen. Her abilities were telepathy and diamond body transformation, but the two abilities could not be used simultaneously. She had iconic platinum blonde hair, charming blue eyes, an exquisite face, and a cold, elegant, and noble temperament.

Besides this, she had another identity—one of the original body's ex-girlfriends.

"Do you not watch the news at all, you guy? I've started my own company now." Emma pouted, expressing her dissatisfaction with her ex-boyfriend not caring about her recent situation.

"Is today the first day you've known me?" Logan took a bite of scallop, sidelining her, "That being the case, are you a wealthy woman now?"

"Yeah." Emma wore a half-smile, "If you call me something sweet, this wealthy woman wouldn't mind keeping you."

"Have you ever heard a saying from China?" Logancomfortably lit a cigar, "It's called 'a person in poverty does not eat food given in contempt.'"

"Still as full of backbone as ever." Emma clicked her tongue approvingly, "Or are you just as hard-mouthed as before?"

Logan shot her a half-smiling glance, "Whether my mouth is hard or not, haven't you tried it?"

Emma's face flushed, and she glared fiercely at him.

Chapter 6 Encountering a Young Girl on the Road

The communication between Logan and Emma was very brief; the latter couldn't stand the former's rogue-like demeanor and fled in a panic.

Watching Emma's departing figure, he rubbed his chin, pondering when to go sponge off her.

"What are you thinking about?"

Logan glanced at the hand Tony patted on his shoulder and said, "Just saw an acquaintance and chatted for a couple of sentences."

"Ho ho, you guy really are hiding your depths, actually knowing people here?"

How could Tony not have checked Logan's background? If he didn't understand him, he wouldn't keep him by his side.

In his impression, this fellow Logan could be said to be penniless, with his only property being that modified harley motorcycle, a few cases of whiskey, and a few boxes of cigars.

To put it bluntly, if he knew wealthy people, he wouldn't have ended up being his bodyguard.

From this, it is actually not difficult to see Charles's series of security protection measures for Mutants.

He and Hank cooperated openly and covertly to cover up the specialness of Mutants among ordinary groups, creating false identities for those Mutants who were unwilling to expose their identities so they could peacefully live the lives of ordinary people.

As for a Mutant like Logan whose age span was extremely long, the difficulty of covering it up was also great. But this did not mean Charles couldn't do it.

For example, the identity Logan was using now was the one Charles helped him make: Logan Howlett, born in Texas in 1980, 25 years old at the time, graduated from a third-rate university, majoring in social relations.

"Can't you allow my former classmate to strike it rich?" Logan squinted sideways at Tony.

"OK OK." Tony was not the kind of person to pursue a question to the very end either. He patted Logan's shoulder and said, "All right, let's go, the business is done."

Logan sneered, "What, in a rush to keep a date?"

Tony didn't feel awkward even after being exposed, and said nonchalantly, "If you have this ability and this idea, why not put it into action? Life, you know, is about making merry in time."

"I agree with that."

Dropping Tony off at a certain apartment, Logan rode his motorcycle back home.

He took a shower, simply made two sirloin steaks, and fried two runny eggs for dinner. He turned on the TV and tuned the channel to the latest entertainment program.

Finishing his dinner accompanied by entertainment gossip, Logan turned on the PS2 and began his single-player game journey, playing Shadow of the Colossus which had just come out this year.

In this era, mobile phones hadn't developed to the advanced level of later generations, and the gaming industry hadn't entered its golden age either. Although there were few things to play, it still had its own unique fun.

Playing for two hours, Logan turned off the game and ended the day's activities.

The next day, Pepper indeed came to Stark Tower and was officially appointed as the executive assistant in the meeting, assisting Tony in handling company affairs. To some extent, she was considered half the Master of the company.

This also made quite a few people murmur inwardly, wondering if this was just another sideshow of the playboy.

Pepper's ability was unquestionable, and in the future, she would help Tony keep Stark Industries in good order. At the time of Tony's suffering in Afghanistan, she stabilized the internal affairs of the company, preventing Stark Industries from falling apart in that storm.

Tony's arrangement had no problem, but to others, it seemed a bit abrupt, especially the company's veteran Obadiah Stane. This future iron monger appeared submissive on the surface, but deep down, he was probably growing increasingly resentful.

Logan, who watched all this with cold detachment, couldn't help but sigh that there is a cause for every effect, and the birth of a result is constantly pushed forward by countless subtle judgments and choices.

Days began to grow peaceful. Pepper displayed her talents, Tony forged weapons for Military orders, and Logan went to work to daydream every day and clocked out off work. His days couldn't be more relaxed.

The X-Men had no movement; only Ororo and Jean occasionally sent messages to inquire about recent conditions. During this time, a strange call came in and was rejected by Logan—this was the most common response to strange calls before crossing over.

Perhaps someone would say, why didn't Logan hunt Mutants? Guys who could ask such a question simply didn't use their brains.

First of all, hunting Mutants would definitely be targeted by Charles and Magneto, which was equivalent to asking for trouble.

Secondly, you had no enmity with the person, and you killed them just for the sake of their ability; what difference did that make from a psychopathic serial killer? Although he was somewhat selfish and a bit of a rogue, he wasn't a rotten person and wouldn't have such low bottom lines.

Finally, wouldn't it be great to legally and reasonably acquire abilities? There were so many conflicts in the future to intervene in.

Therefore, all Logan needed to do was calmly wait; he had plenty of time and naturally had plenty of patience.

That night, Logan had just gotten off work from Stark Industries and rode his motorcycle to his usual bar to restock.

As he parked the car steadily and walked in from the back door, Tom, the bouncer guarding the door, greeted him familiarly.

Logan was not stingy either, throwing him a cigar.

Tom took the cigar, sniffed it under his nose, and his eyes lit up, "Cuba cigars, ninety-nine percent, rare stuff."

Logan bared his teeth, "All right, stop talking nonsense, hurry up and load two cases of wine. Same old rules, don't try to fool me with your watered-down stuff from before; I can taste it out."

Tom made an OK gesture and called two subordinates to move the wine for Logan.

With the wine loaded, Logan didn't stay long. He fixed the wine on the back seat of the motorcycle, twisted the throttle, and was about to leave when he suddenly felt the back seat sink, and an urgent female voice sounded:

"Quick, someone is chasing me. Help me, please, let's go quickly!"

Feeling the close touch against his back and judging the other party's age and figure, Logan hesitated for a moment, twisted the throttle, and shot out like an arrow.

Relying on his Beast-level keen senses, he could clearly feel the heavy and rapid running behind him. He looked into the rearview mirror, and the pursuer also revealed their true face from the visual blind spot.

Disheveled hair, sturdy build, and tattered clothes. Raising his head, he revealed a Beast-like face.

"F*ck! Sabretooth?!"

Logan gritted his teeth, "Chick, how did you manage to provoke that old madman Magneto?"

The young girl behind him looked somewhat bewildered upon hearing this, "Who is Magneto? I don't know him."

"..."

Confirming that the other party indeed didn't know Magneto, why would Sabretooth hunt down an ordinary young girl?

This showed that there was a secret on the young girl, or a secret urgently needed by that old fellow Magneto.

Detouring all the way, weaving left and right through the alleys in the city, he finally managed to shake off Sabretooth temporarily.

Logan stopped the bike, pulled the young girl down abruptly, and her hood fell off accordingly, revealing a rather familiar face.

"Thank you, I'll leave right now."

The young girl was grateful at first, and without hesitation, turned around to leave. She had already caused trouble for the other party and couldn't be so unappreciative anymore.

"Wait." Logan spoke up to stop her, squinted his eyes to size her up for a moment, and said softly, "What's your name?"

Chapter 7 Sabretooth Attacks

"Mary, Anna Marie LeBeau."

The young girl replied timidly.

As expected!

Logan felt somewhat helpless, not expecting to be inadvertently dragged into the old madman's plan.

This girl was Mary, nicknamed 'Rogue', who appeared in the first X-Men movie, and she was chased and killed by Sabretooth right at the start just like this, except the location was changed from the Maple Country border to New York.

And that old madman Magneto's purpose was to use this chick as a humanoid battery.

He couldn't handle it, but someone else could.

"Wait a moment, there is a place you can go, and the people there will protect your safety."

Mary was not an ungrateful person either; since Logan had saved her, he certainly wouldn't harm her. Therefore, she gently nodded.

Carrying the girl towards Xaviers School, there was silence all the way.

By the time Logan brought Mary there, Ororo was already waiting.

Regarding this, he wasn't surprised at all; Charles could perceive people nearby, and if a Mutant approached him, he would definitely be fully aware of it, so it wasn't strange for him to send someone to check or meet them.

"James, why is it you?"

Ororo looked surprised; the Professor had asked her to pick someone up, and she had thought it was a stranger who was a Mutant.

Logan lit the cigar he was biting, signaling her to look behind him, and only then did the other party notice that a strange girl was sitting behind him.

"Anna Marie LeBeau, when I encountered her, she was being pursued by Sabretooth."

Ororo's expression changed immediately. "The Brotherhood?"

Logan nodded.

"Follow me!"

Before long, the three of them came to the Headmaster's office, where Charles, Jean, and Scott were already waiting.

After Charles experienced a bit of Mary's memory, he sighed softly. "You've had a hard time, child. Once you're here, you're safe."

Looking at Charles's kind and gentle appearance, Mary felt somewhat more at ease and gently nodded.

Ororo took Mary down to settle her in.

After the two left, Charles looked solemn. "Mary's ability is somewhat special; I suspect Erik wants to use Mary to achieve some kind of ulterior motive."

"Professor, now that she is with us, Magneto probably wouldn't dare to show up here." Scott said with a face full of confidence.

Hearing this, Logan couldn't help scoffing, drawing a glare from the other party. He didn't pamper him either and retorted, "What? Can you solo Magneto? Or do you think Charles can do anything about Magneto, who wears a helmet that blocks Charles's ability?"

Scott was at a wordless loss, having to secretly harbor resentment.

"Logan is right. If Erik comes looking for trouble, almost none of us are his match."

Charles sighed, looked down at his own legs for a moment, and then firmly stated, "But we cannot stand by and watch someone die, nor can we let Erik achieve his conspiracy!"

Logan knew they were going to talk about some internal matters next, and was planning to leave.

"Wait, Logan."

Charles called out to Logan, looking solemn. "This time, I need your help!"

Logan stared at Charles for a moment and slowly nodded. "Let's make it clear first: my ability is completely countered by that old madman, and I can't do anything about him, but letting me deal with the others is no problem."

"Rest assured, I will make reasonable arrangements." Charles smiled; he was very gratified that Logan could stay and help.

Little did he know, the reason Logan chose to stay was because he wanted to use his cheat to absorb the genes of that group of Mutants under Magneto's command.

Take that fellow Sabretooth, for instance; as long as he absorbed the other's x-factor, his healing factor, physical fitness, and beastly perception would inevitably rise to another level.

If by sheer luck he absorbed the old madman's ability, then it would be even simpler for him to lie flat in the future.

Calling Tony to ask for a few days off, Logan stayed at Xaviers School.

Regarding his arrival, except for Scott, basically everyone held a welcoming attitude.

The students were because Logan had saved them, not to mention Jean and Ororo.

Everyone patiently prepared for battle.

During this period, Charles had Ororo bring back a Mutantwith blue skin and a body shape unlike a human, named Kurt Wagner, who possessed the ability of teleportation, just like the Red Devil back then.

Nightcrawler's return left Logan somewhat speechless; the plot of this World was simply a complete mess.

Just like William Stryker whom he killed—clearly a villain in the second X-Men movie, now resolved by him early—and Kurt also appeared in the second movie.

Now, Old Magneto from the first movie had instead become the villain BOSS of the'second movie'.

Thinking carefully, this was a stitched-together World, so it wasn't strange for certain so-called plot deviations to appear. After all, people were not NPCs; how could they walk according to so-called plot inertia?

The nighttime Xaviers School appeared very quiet. Loganwas leaning against the windowsill smoking and drinking; after all, there were no other forms of entertainment in this Mutant school.

Suddenly, someone knocked on the room door. In his mind, he was judging whether it was Ororo or Jean, but without hesitation, he said aloud to come in.

The door opened, revealing Ororo's iconic silver hair and charming face.

Just when Logan thought he could have a good night's sleep today, he suddenly sensed something was wrong, raised an eyebrow, and then said nonchalantly, "So late, is there something you need?"

'Ororo's expression stiffened, and she cursed inwardly, pretending to be such a straight-laced person!

"Logan, I can't sleep."

Logan chuckled inwardly. Seeing the flash of annoyance in the other party's eyes, he feigned coldness. "If you can't sleep, go run a couple of laps around the outside playground; once you're tired, you'll naturally fall asleep."

'Ororo' almost broke character, gnashing her teeth inwardly, but her face revealed a charming smile. "Logan, don't be like this."

Logan rolled his eyes, finished the whiskey in his cup, climbed down from the windowsill, walked in front of 'Ororo', looked down at her from above, and said, "Raven, stop pretending. Ororo has been doing yoga frequently lately."

The implication was that your butt is not as perky as the real Ororo's right now.

At this, Raven finally couldn't hold it together anymore, transforming back into her original appearance, filled with grievance. "Logan, you really are a bastard!"

"Thanks for the compliment." Logan smiled indifferently. "Why aren't you going out to trick Mary into leaving, and instead running over to find me?"

Raven leaned against Logan's robust pectoral muscles and said seductively, "Isn't it because we haven't seen each other in a long time, and I missed you a bit."

Logan rolled his eyes. "Save it, I certainly don't believe those words."

"Then what will make you believe it?" Raven gave a meaningful glance toward the direction of the bed, the meaning self-evident.

Although Logan liked women, he wasn't desperate. Facing Raven's initiative, his first reaction was that the other party definitely wanted to scheme against him. Therefore, without any nonsense, he directly activated an illusion to plunge the other party into a certain fantasy; his ability to manipulate perception could make the other party feel as though they were in reality.

After finishing, he put Raven on the bed and then left his room.

In the dark corridor, Logan's sharp senses began to amplify, clearly capturing the anomalies transmitted into his ears.

Before long, a faint friction sound rang out—that was the sound of clothing rubbing against the door frame, and it wasn't far from him.

Logan's eyes narrowed as he quietly groped his way to the position where the sound came from. His sharp perception had already formed the outline of a humanoid shape in his mind.

The Adamantium claws slowly popped out. The moment he was less than a meter away from the opponent, Logansuddenly burst forth. A bright silver light flashed under the moonlight and vanished in an instant.

"Hiss—"

The sound of flesh being pierced rang out, and the smell of blood began to diffuse.

The claws on Logan's other hand popped out and he was about to deliver another strike, when the person beneath him suddenly erupted with immense force, tossing him aside and instantly causing him to shatter the window and fall onto the lawn.

The huge noise caused the entire estate to wake up, and one light after another lit up.

Chapter 8: Magneto Makes His Entrance

Just as Logan recovered from the buffer of falling from the second floor, a massive figure lunged straight down from upstairs.

With a flick of his claws, he braced against the impact and slid back two steps. Looking closely, he realized it was Sabretooth, whom he had just met a few days ago.

Without wasting any words, he initiated the Bagua Double-Swapping Palms, coordinating with his steel claws to tear several wounds into the opponent's body. Although they healed quickly, it still slowed down the frequency of the opponent's attacks.

Ducking to dodge Sabretooth's pounce, he pierced the opponent's liver and kidney area with his right claw. Taking advantage of the moment of daze, his left claw drove straight into the opponent's lower jaw, effortlessly piercing through the skull from bottom to top.

In excruciating pain, Sabretooth convulsed his body. Loganpressed his advantage relentlessly, driving his right claw horizontally into the neck and yanking outward with both claws, forcibly pulling out the opponent's head along with the spine.

This move fully demonstrated what it meant when a Mutant knew martial arts: no one could stop them.

This scene caused the students secretly peeking from the second floor to gasp in shock.

'Detected enemy killed dropping x-factor. Would you like to absorb it?'

Silently choosing yes, Logan felt the enhancement in his strength, senses, healing factor, and bones, slowly letting out a breath.

Ororo and Jean, dressed in pajamas, had just arrived and saw the decapitated corpse on the ground, quickly recognizing the identity of the person.

"Sabretooth?"

"Magneto really made a move."

Logan lit a cigar and said, "Mystique Raven is in my room."

As soon as these words were spoken, the expressions of Ororo and Jean changed instantly.

"What?!"

Logan suddenly realized his words were ambiguous and quickly added to Ororo, "She turned into your appearance, but I saw through it and temporarily subdued her."

Hearing this, Ororo's expression turned ugly, and she turned and walked quickly toward Logan's room.

Jean gave Logan a suspicious up-and-down look, then chased after Ororo without a word.

Logan was quite open-minded about this; anyway, he hadn't done anything.

Then...

"Bastard!!"

Looking at Raven, who was gritting her teeth, Logan's mouth twitched. Did this woman mistake the illusion for reality?

Ororo and Jean were also extremely puzzled at this moment. They clearly saw nothing unusual about Ravenearlier, so why was she showing this attitude toward Logan now?

"Raven, for the sake of old times, can you tell me what Erikis actually doing? I don't want to use my powers on you." Charles looked at Raven with a complex expression, filled with nostalgia and sorrow.

Raven put away her resentful expression toward Loganand sighed, "Charles, there is no way you can stop Erik. You know his personality; once he makes a decision, he will not take it back."

"Whether we can stop him or not, how would we know without trying?" Charles smiled gently.

Raven fell silent for a moment and slowly said, "Soon, at the World Summit, Erik plans to use a device that activates the x-factor to turn World leaders into Mutants, forcing them to recognize the status of Mutants."

As soon as these words were spoken, Charles and the others instantly changed expressions. They didn't see the benefits that the success of this plan would bring; they only saw that once this plan was completed, Mutants would face a devastating catastrophe.

"What on earth is that guy Magneto thinking?" Loganbared his teeth, speechless. "Has he never considered that even if he actually succeeds, would those people willingly submit to his coercion? Once they go back, they will find ways to cover up the truth and immediately retaliate brutally against the Mutant community. By then, the Worldwill be in complete chaos."

Hearing Logan's words, Raven did not refute. How could she not be aware of the problems in this? It wasn't like she hadn't brought it up, but Erik was too stubborn.

Charles sighed repeatedly, at a loss for how to evaluate his old friend's mindset.

To describe Magneto with a phrase from later generations, it was a classic case of being terrible yet loving to play.

"So, why did he capture Mary?" Ororo looked puzzled.

Raven glanced at her and said, "Mary's ability can temporarily absorb the abilities of other Mutants. That device requires Erik's abilities to operate, but completing the transformation will drain his powers dry. It can only be done through this buffering method of letting Mary absorb and use it."

"Simply put, treating Mary as a battery." Jean said thoughtfully.

Everyone fell silent for a moment. Just as Charles was about to say something, an old voice carrying a hint of ruthlessness and majesty rang in everyone's ears.

"You killed my people and imprisoned my people, Charles, are you trying to start a war with me?"

Magneto, Erik Lehnsherr had arrived!

Everyone came outside the estate. Wearing a cloak and a shielding helmet, Magneto looked old, but his aura was extremely fierce as he stood there with his arms crossed.

Although he stood completely still, it made everyone feel as though they were facing a formidable enemy.

Logan squinted his eyes, looking at Magneto, who was a natural counter to him, and couldn't help thinking in his heart.

If he obtained the opponent's ability, would he be invincible?

Magnetic Field Manipulation, although not as overpowered as in the comics, was still not weak, and its upper limit could not be considered low.

What's more, his own metallic skeleton was naturally countered by the opponent's power.

Eliminating a natural enemy and gaining a powerful ability—this business deal was guaranteed to be profitable!

Solving Magneto wasn't without a way; as long as his helmet was removed, anyone with telepathic abilities could control his body and prevent him from acting rashly. Just like how he solved Sebastian Shaw back then.

While Logan was pondering how to deal with Magneto, Charles also started a conversation with his old friend.

"Erik, you are still so obstinate. In your so-called plan, have you never considered the possibility of failure?"

"Charles, you are always so soft-hearted. Back then, if you hadn't stopped me, we could have ruled the World during the Cuban Missile Crisis!"

"That was merely a small fraction of the power displayed by humans. Do you want to make an enemy of the entire World? Do you know this will bring an unprecedented disaster?"

"So what if I make an enemy of the entire World? As long as it allows Mutants to change their current status and become the Masters of this World, I will stop at nothing!"

"Your idea might be good from the starting point, but the method is wrong. If possible, old friend, let's sit down and talk, alright?"

Seeing Charles's nearly pleading attitude, Magneto was moved for a split second, but it was still overwritten by the coldness and obsession deep in his heart. "No need, let Raven go, and I won't cause you trouble today."

Charles sighed, gripping the back of his chair with slight force. His pale fingers revealed the inner turbulence in his heart. "Erik, you know I cannot watch you drag the entire Mutant community into the quagmire of war and death."

"Then what's the point of talking nonsense?" Magnetospread his hands wide, and instantly the earth shook and the mountains swayed. All metallic objects around began to tremble and distort.

At this moment, Logan had unknowingly crept to the rear, whispering to Kurt and Scott beside him, "In a moment, Blue Tail, you flash behind that old guy; there will be an opening to subdue him. Cyclops, you aim at that old guy's head; as long as you knock off his helmet, Jean and Charlescan control him."

Although Scott didn't like Logan, now wasn't the time to throw a tantrum with him. He could still distinguish priorities, so he nodded lightly.

Kurt was very obedient, perhaps longing for the feeling of being needed, but Logan's nickname for him made him somewhat depressed. "If possible, don't call me Blue Tail."

"Alright, Blue Head."

Chapter 9 Killing Magneto

Just as the atmosphere reached its peak of tension, a puff of black smoke suddenly appeared behind Magneto.

Quickly reacting, Magneto sneered, simply waving his hand to use flying metal to immobilize the limbs of Kurt, who intended to sneak up from behind.

Just as Magneto intended to utter a sarcastic remark, a red laser beam accurately struck the helmet on his head, causing his expression to change drastically.

"Charles! Control him!"

Charles's reaction was also very quick, instantly restraining Magneto, who was about to pick up his helmet, making his reaching motion appear slightly comical.

Seeing that Magneto, this big target, was right in front of him, Logan trembled all over with excitement.

Kill him! Then he could obtain the Magnetic Field Manipulation ability!

Kill him! And he would no longer have any natural enemies!

Logan walked step by step toward the immobilized Magneto, his right claws popping out involuntarily.

Seeing this scene, Charles's expression changed, "Logan, you..."

"Charles, if we don't kill him, there will only be endless trouble in the future!"

Logan did not stop his steps, his right claw about to pierce into Magneto's neck, ending this villainous leader among the Mutants.

Close! Getting closer and closer!

The clear sound of flesh being pierced entered his ears, which Logan felt was incomparably delightful; this excitement caused his adrenaline to soar.

Just as he prepared to listen to that pleasant prompt tone, resistance suddenly came from his right claw, preventing him from advancing even an inch.

"Charles!!"

Logan was enraged, turning his head to glare at Charles, who wore a look of shame, "Do you know what you are doing?!"

"I know, but he is my friend..." Charles secretly released a bit of his control over Erik, leaving the other party a gap to unleash his ability.

Seeing that the duck that was already in hand was about to fly away, how could Logan possibly be willing to accept it?

With an angry shout, his left claw, carrying immense force, met the extremely strong resistance and instantly pierced through Magneto's skull.

'Detected that killing the enemy dropped an x-factor, proceed with absorption?'

Absorb!! Absorb fiercely!!

Magnetic Field Manipulation obtained!!

Suppressing the urge to laugh wildly, Logan pulled his steel claws out from Magneto's brain. Feeling the ability inside his body that synchronized with the Earth magnetic field, the corners of his mouth twitched up and down for a long while.

The hesitation caused by Logan's questioning failed to stop Erik's death. With a sorrowful expression, Charles looked at his old friend who no longer made a sound, his eye sockets instantly turning red.

Raven's lips trembled, and she silently closed her eyes.

Both she and Charles knew this was the best outcome, but after spending days and nights together for many years, that bond could not be faked.

At this moment, no one felt happy, except Logan himself.

Seeing this atmosphere, Logan forcibly held back the urge to make a sarcastic remark, bit down on his cigar, and slowly walked away.

He wasn't stupid; although he killed Magneto, he had deeply offended Charles. Now, for a short period of time, his relationship with the X-Men was bound to develop cracks.

But it didn't matter; getting the ability was the key. As for everything else, what was there to care about?

Speaking of which, once Magneto died, those Mutants of the Brotherhood were left without a leader. To prevent them from doing evil, he might as well put some thought into dealing with them.

I really am such a good person!

For the next period of time, Logan worked while privately hunting Mutants belonging to the Mutant Brotherhood.

Most of them were physical mutation types whose abilities Logan looked down upon, so he simply turned all of them into points.

Through his calculations, levels were linked to points.

Epsilon-class Mutants provided a pitifully low 10 points.

Delta-class doubled that to 20 points.

Gamma-level could also be considered intermediate, providing 50 points.

Beta-class Mutants at this tier were neither too few nor too many, providing 100 points.

Alpha-level, which was Logan's current tier, provided 200 points.

As for Omega-level, there was no need to even think about that.

Upgrading an ability by one level was calculated based on potential, doubling from high to low in sequence.

For example, for abilities with low potential—the kind that could at most be upgraded to Gamma-level—upgrading by one level only required 50 points, and the next time would be 100 points.

For medium potential, which could at most be upgraded to Beta-class, upgrading from Epsilon-class required 100 points.

For high potential, such as Magnetic Field Manipulation, upgrading from Epsilon-class to Delta-class required 150 points, and upgrading again would be 300 points.

Breaking through the potential cap of certain abilities required absorbing abilities of the same kind.

And to unlock Omega, the requirement was 50 times that of Alpha-level.

During this time, Logan killed 3 Delta-class, 4 Gamma-level, and 1 Beta-class Mutants, obtaining a total of 160 points, which was only just enough to upgrade Magnetic Field Manipulation by one level.

He took inventory of his abilities and categorized them:

Super Healing Factor (Omega-level potential), currently at Alpha-level, required upgrade points: 60,000 points.

Magnetic Field Manipulation (Omega-level potential), currently at Delta-class, required upgrade points: 300 points.

Beast-grade Perception (Alpha-level potential), currently at Beta-class, required upgrade points: 1,600 points.

Mental Illusion (Alpha-level potential), currently at Epsilon-class, required upgrade points: 150 points.

The Adamantium skeleton did not count as an ability, but having absorbed the skeletal enhancements of Deathstrike and Sabretooth, its hardness had increased by at least two tiers; if it were also counted as a Mutant ability, it should currently be at Beta-class.

Current remaining: 10 points

The road ahead is long and arduous.

After reviewing and summarizing, Logan slowly let out a breath. Wanting to save up enough to upgrade an Omega-level ability would require killing at least 6,000 of the lowest-tier Mutants. To upgrade all abilities to Omega-level, all the Mutants in the entire World wouldn't be enough for him to kill.

He had long guessed that growing stronger wouldn't be so easy, but at least it could be considered a shortcut. However, unless it was absolute last resort, he shouldn't do this too much; otherwise, it would easily provoke hostility and attention from others.

Thinking of this, he decided to temporarily upgrade Magnetic Field Manipulation and Mental Illusion first, so that in the future he wouldn't have to blindly rush in relying solely on his physical body.

Just like that, Logan transformed into a wolf hunting in the dark night, constantly searching for prey.

Whenever he encountered some evil Mutants, he would secretly take them out.

Within a short span of a year, he pushed both Magnetic Field Manipulation and Mental Illusion to Beta-class in one stroke. As for those Mutants who perished at his hands, to put it responsibly, not a single one was innocent.

However, in the process of continuous hunting, his mindset also quietly underwent a change without him realizing it.

He became increasingly irritable, his strikes lacked restraint, and sometimes he was unconsciously controlled by his killing intent.

For example, once when he was tracking a Mutant whose body was petrified, due to the other party's resistance, he couldn't help but smash him into pieces.

Afterwards, Logan also began to reflect on his eagerness for quick success; continuous killing over a brief period would also cause him to gradually lose himself in the carnage.

Therefore, he stopped hunting, began reflecting, and controlled his emotions.

It took a full half-year for him to slowly recover.

And this year was already 2007.

Chapter 10: Walking the Dog and Maggie

In the blink of an eye, Logan had been working by Tony's side for two years.

Over these two years, he had helped Tony block countless overt and covert attacks, earning Tony's deep trust and receiving plenty of bonuses from him.

Although Logan's net worth couldn't compare to a billionaire's, he still had savings of thirty million U.S. dollars.

With food and clothing taken care of, no worries about his hobbies, and his abilities quietly improving in private, what else could he be dissatisfied with?

Even though he had killed Magneto and a rift had formed in his relationship with Charles, it didn't affect Ororo and Jean's interactions with him.

The only thing that made him somewhat depressed was that during this period, Raven had come to look for him once, wanting to assassinate him in bed, but ultimately didn't make a move.

And that stranger's call came again; this time Logananswered, only to discover that the caller was Emma.

As soon as this woman opened her mouth, she gave him a good scolding, belittling him as worthless, and then casually asked him out for dinner.

After cursing her as a lunatic, Logan hung up the phone.

Life was just like this—unpretentious and boring.

But Logan hadn't forgotten that in another year, his employer was going to suffer, and then say that classic line that would lead to a series of subsequent stories: "I am Iron Man!"

He didn't plan to stop it, but when the time came, he could at least save him from suffering a bit, for the sake of friendship and money.

The Wick couple next door was still the same as usual, but Logan noticed something unusual about Helen.

Once, taking advantage of the two of them walking the dog—yes, Logan kept a dog, a smoke-blue Blue Bay Shepherd named Ares (Ares of the Pantheon sneezed)—

he subtly mentioned that Helen's body had some issues, and John promptly took Helen for a checkup, thereby avoiding the worsening of her condition later on.

After that, John occasionally brought Helen over as a guest, and the relationship between the two gradually grew familiar.

Returning to Ares, this dog was raised by Logan a year ago, and it was only three months old when it first arrived home.

One of the main reasons why Logan was able to calm the inner demons generated by killing was also due to the presence of Ares, which made him rein in a lot of his hostility.

Therefore, he doted on Ares very much, giving it top-tier food, clothing, and expenses.

This little fellow also lived up to expectations, growing increasingly handsome as it grew older, and was once praised by a passing judge of a pet beauty contest for being able to win a prize.

Nowadays, Logan's favorite thing to do was to ride his motorcycle and take the dog fishing or walking.

On this day, Logan was walking Ares and came to a park; he untied the leash to let it move around freely for a bit.

"Boy, go ahead, don't run too far."

Rubbing the little fellow's dog head, it ran off happily into the distance amidst a flattering whimpering sound.

Logan didn't mind either; with his senses, he wouldn't let Ares get lost, let alone that this little fellow was very obedient.

Just as he was lazily lying on the grass smoking a cigar, he heard a sharp and frightened scream.

"Anna!!"

Immediately followed by a few barks, he gave a start and sat up; that was Ares's voice.

He hurriedly rushed to the place where the sound came from, and looking closely, saw that his Ares was pinning down a Husky and biting its neck.

Beside them, a woman with chestnut wavy long hair was tightly hugging a Golden Retriever and comforting it in a low voice.

Just as Logan was about to ask, a burly man rushed over angrily, raising his foot to kick Ares.

His face turned cold, and he didn't indulge the other person either; reaching out, he grabbed the burly man's collar and hauled him over, raising his hand amidst the other's resistance to deliver a rear naked choke that left the other's face and neck red.

"Pal, take it easy, let's figure out what's going on first."

The burly man frantically patted Logan's thick arm to signal surrender, and only after being released did he cough like crazy, looking at him with fear.

Logan waved his hand, and Ares immediately let go of the Husky, sticking out its tongue and running to its Master's side; from its proudly held-up head, it wasn't hard to tell that it seemed to be showing off something.

At this time, the chestnut-haired woman stood up, led the Golden Retriever over, and said to Logan with a grateful expression, "Thank you, if it weren't for your dog, my Annawould have been hurt."

Immediately afterwards, she changed her face instantly, venting her anger toward the burly man, "If you can't control your dog, I can hire professionals to help you deal with it! Fuck, do you know it almost hurt my Anna?!"

Realizing he was in the wrong, plus having the obviously not-to-be-fucked-with Logan standing nearby, after apologizing, the burly man dejectedly took his Husky and left.

Logan watched this scene with a chuckle, not expecting that this woman, who had a pure and dainty face, could be so assertive.

Seeming to also realize that her actions just now were a bit inappropriate, the woman smiled apologetically, "Sorry, I made a fool of myself in front of you."

Logan waved his hand, "Not at all, I think you're pretty great like this, at least you won't be bullied by others."

Hearing this, a trace of goodwill arose in the woman's heart toward Logan; of course, the hormones and sexual tension exuded by Logan's appearance and physique also played a huge role.

"My name is Maggie, Maggie Murdock."

"Logan, James Logan Howlett."

The two shook hands, parting at the slightest touch.

Looking at the other's height, which was only a head shorter than his own, coupled with that face resembling Anne Hathaway, Logan couldn't help secretly pondering whether this was the protagonist of some past-life movie.

As they chatted, he also learned that the other worked in a coffee shop in Queens, and had a blind younger brother at home who needed care.

Blind, last name Murdock.

Logan's expression was somewhat strange, and he couldn't help probing, "Won't that be too exhausting?"

"My brother is doing fine, and sometimes he doesn't even need me to take care of him. He is currently planning to study law, getting ready to be a lawyer in the future."

Maggie smiled, and for some reason, she felt very relaxed being with Logan. The other person had a trustworthy feel to him, which made her involuntarily spill details about herself.

But there was one thing she didn't dare reveal; this was a secret, or rather a flaw, that she tried hard to hide.

Maggie didn't know that after she finished speaking, Loganhad confirmed that her brother was the future Daredevil Matt Murdock.

Blind, last name Murdock, and going to be a lawyer—these buffs were simply maxed out.

Never expected that going out for a walk could actually lead to running into the future Daredevil's sister.

But in his memory, did Daredevil have a sister? And did she look so much like Anne Hathaway?

Could this be another stitched-in character and relationship?

But it didn't matter; whoever was stitched in had nothing to do with him.

Looking at Maggie before him, Logan proposed the idea of going for a drink.

Maggie didn't refuse this.

As for Ares and Anna, the two cross-breed dogs were huddled together sniffing each other, having a blast playing.
