Chapter 46 Quentin Beck's Public Execution, Broadcasting His Scam Live Across All of New York
Aaron tossed the projection core module in his hand up twice.
Electric sparks danced at the broken edge, crackling and buzzing.
"The special effects are well done, Beck." Aaron's voice cut through the cold wind. "How about showing all of New York the behind-the-scenes footage?"
Quentin Beck wore heavy VR tactical glasses.
He stepped on the hovering platform, looking down with a stiff neck.
The flesh on his chin trembled twice.
"How did you know my…" Beck's throat was dry.
Aaron didn't wait for him to finish asking his nonsense.
With a flick of his mind.
"Red Queen, take over this bunch of toys."
A crimson data stream, invisible to ordinary people, surged along Aaron's fingertips into the damaged module.
The computing power of the top-tier AI was like a violent tsunami.
Instantly, it followed the local area network, counter-charging into the main control system of Beck's drone swarm.
Above the intersection.
That four-story-tall Lava Monster suddenly lagged like an old television with a bad connection.
The harsh electronic static drowned out the monster's roar.
Clatter.
The huge lava body shattered into blue pixels all over the sky.
The four circling fire dragons also dissipated at the same time.
The oppressive heatwave was gone.
Blown away by the cold wind, the pungent sulfur smell left behind only the stench of sewers and car exhaust.
The chill of New York's winter night reoccupied the streets.
Gwen crouched on the lamppost.
She grabbed the cold sheet metal, staring blankly at the empty road ahead.
Where was there any Lava Monster?
The asphalt road surface on the ground was intact, and not even a single spark could be found.
In mid-air.
Hundreds of black drones stopped their attack actions.
Under the manipulation of Red Queen, they quickly changed formation.
The projection lenses under the bellies of the aircraft neatly turned direction, aiming at Quentin Beck.
Blue light intertwined.
A 3D holographic character projection more than a dozen meters high stood in the exact center of the intersection.
It was not that superhero wearing green armor and a fishbowl helmet.
Inside the holographic projection was a middle-aged, out-of-shape man.
He wore a comical gray tight-fitting motion capture suit.
The joints of the clothes were covered with ping-pong-ball-sized white sensor points.
The tight suit squeezed his beer belly clearly.
He was striking an awkward horse stance.
His hands waved randomly in mid-air, and his mouth made exaggerated mouth shapes.
Looking just like a gray toad in heat.
The passersby outside the safety line at the street corner were completely dumbfounded.
The cameraman of the news broadcast van forgot to zoom in.
The entire intersection was dead silent.
Afterwards, earth-shaking roars of laughter erupted.
This wasn't over yet.
Far away at Times Square several blocks away.
All the large electronic billboards flashed simultaneously.
The comical picture of Beck wearing a tight suit dancing like a shaman was synchronously cut onto every screen.
A passerby buying a hot dog spat out his food.
The patrolling Police held their stomachs and squatted beside the Police car.
At this moment, the entire New York City shared this epic behind-the-scenes footage.
Beck heard the jeers from below.
He yanked off the VR tactical glasses on his head, panting heavily.
The cold wind blew on his sweat-covered forehead.
He turned his head.
And saw that huge holographic image projected in mid-air.
He saw the rolls of fat around his waist squeezed out by the suit.
The savior script he had painstakingly planned for half a year, his dream superhero debut.
It was all over.
"No… Turn it off!"
Beck's face turned purple-red.
The veins on his forehead bulged like earthworms.
He frantically pressed the tactical controller on his wrist, wanting to regain control of the drones.
The screen was filled with dazzling red refusal codes.
"You ruined my masterpiece!"
Beck stared fixedly at Aaron in mid-air, his eyeballs covered in bloodshot veins.
Spittle sprayed into the cold wind.
He completely broke down, and shame and anger twisted into a crazy intent to kill.
"I'm going to beat you into mincemeat!"
Beck smashed the glass cover of his wrist controller.
And pressed the forced physical override button at the bottom.
In mid-air.
Dozens of drones loaded with live-fire weapons shed their optical camouflage.
The miniature Gatling machine guns beneath the cabins poked out their barrels.
Red laser aiming lines densely intertwined on Aaron's black jacket.
Rat-tat-tat-tat!
The muzzles spewed half-meter-long orange tongues of fire.
Dense nine-millimeter bullets tore through the air like a metal rainstorm.
Brass shells pelted the asphalt road like rain, clattering noisily.
Aaron didn't dodge.
The bullets hit his black jacket, making a dull thudding sound.
The bullets collided with the skin of the Steel Body, instantly flattening into pieces of scrap metal.
Falling powerlessly into the air.
"Toys are just toys."
Aaron patted the metal debris off his clothes.
Facing the hail of bullets, he strode forward.
Stepping on an invisible force field with the soles of his feet, the air was shaken into circles of white ripples.
A drone lowered its altitude, and the tail of its miniature missile lit up with fire.
Aaron raised his right hand.
And slapped it across.
Bang.
The drone was directly slapped into a bursting fireball.
Metal parts splashed everywhere, smashing against the roadside fire hydrant.
He passed through the smoke of gunpowder.
His left hand grabbed the rotor of a drone and gave it a hard yank.
Rip.
The rotor motor was forcefully ripped apart.
Aaron used it like a baseball, casually smashing it toward another drone.
The two machines collided, exploding into a pile of charred scrap iron.
In less than ten seconds.
The gunfire in the sky stopped.
Dozens of live-ammo drones all turned into smoking wrecks, scattering across every corner of the intersection.
Beck stood on the hovering platform, his legs weak.
He watched that monster in a black jacket tear apart all his trump cards with his bare hands.
Cold sweat dripped down his chin.
The toes of his feet slammed down on the acceleration pedal, and blue flames spewed from the tail of the platform.
He wanted to escape.
Aaron's figure flashed.
Directly appearing above Beck.
His right leg was raised high, carrying the terrifying kinetic energy of a downward drop.
He kicked down onto Beck's shoulder with a split kick.
Snap.
The crisp sound of a broken collarbone.
Beck let out a miserable scream, his entire body pitching down from the hovering platform.
Smashing onto the hood of an abandoned Ford sedan below.
The hood dented into a large pit.
The windshield was shattered to pieces.
Aaron landed lightly beside him.
His cotton slippers stepped directly on Beck's chest.
A dusty shoe print was stepped onto the tight motion capture suit.
Fresh blood gushed from Beck's mouth, his chest cavity pressed so hard he couldn't catch his breath.
He grabbed Aaron's ankle with both hands, struggling desperately.
That little bit of strength was not even considered tickling in front of the Steel Body.
"Your show has wrapped up, director."
Aaron looked down at him from above.
Applying a slight force with the toe of his foot, he snapped two of Beck's ribs.
In pain, Beck rolled his eyes and passed out directly in the pile of broken glass.
Deep in his mind.
The electronic synthesized voice rang out cheerfully.
[Ding!]
[The host successfully ended the villain 'Mysterio's' scam.]
[Saved the city's trust crisis, causality heavily corrected.]
[Generous blind box rewards have been issued to the system space.]
Aaron withdrew his foot.
He glanced at Gwen, who was still dazed on the lamppost in the distance.
He wasn't in a hurry to go over.
With his mind sinking into the system, a blind box exuding golden light lay quietly in the center of the grid.
The reward grade this time was not low.
He had just clicked "Open" in his heart.
The light of the blind box hadn't had time to burst open.
Boom!
A deafening rumble of thunder suddenly sounded in the sky.
This thunder wasn't right.
It wasn't the dull rolling thunder of nature, but carried a certain high-frequency tearing sensation.
As if something huge forcefully squeezed through the atmosphere.
The air raid siren of New York City didn't even have time to sound.
Aaron abruptly raised his head.
The originally gloomy night sky was torn open with a huge crack without warning.
A dazzling seven-colored pillar of light roared down from the depths of the Universe.
The light was as thick as a pillar supporting the sky.
Carrying violent space-distorting energy, it burned through the clouds.
It fiercely slammed into a wasteland on the outskirts of New York City.
The earth trembled violently once.
On the distant horizon, a seven-colored light explosion rose.
The strong light illuminated half of the night sky like broad daylight.
Chapter 47: Thunder God Thor is banished to the mortal realm, Mjolnir falls in the outskirts of New York
The ground violently trembled once.
The asphalt pavement at the intersection rose and fell with the vibration.
A colorful beam of light smashed onto the distant wasteland. The intense light pierced through the heavy cumulonimbus clouds.
The piercing thunder rolled in half a second later.
It was like a giant war drum being forcefully beaten and shattered in the night sky of Manhattan.
The car alarms along the street were instantly triggered by the vibration.
The traffic lights along the entire street flashed randomly. The beep-beep alarm sounds merged into one, drowning out the cold wind of early winter.
Aaron stood in mid-air.
The air force field beneath his feet rippled out a circle of White waves.
He turned his head sideways.
A violent and tyrannical energy fluctuation smashed into his nerve endings along with the cold rain.
It was not Earth technology.
It was not a weapon of S.H.I.E.L.D., nor was it a reactor of Stark Industries.
This was an ancient and heavy magic energy, carrying the unique aura of thunder and destruction from Asgard.
Gwen crouched on the crossbar of the streetlamp.
Her pink and White mask was soaked by the rain. She grabbed the sheet metal and looked at the distant colorful light explosion.
"What is that?" Her voice trembled.
Her fingers scraped tiny scratches onto the iron pipe.
The confidence she had just faced in front of the holographic projection was smashed to pieces in front of this mighty power of heaven and Earth.
Aaron walked over stepping on the air and stopped in front of her.
"Aliens littering randomly."
He reached out and patted Gwen's White hood, brushing off a piece of rotten vegetable leaf stuck to it. The sour and stinking smell from the fall she had taken in the garbage pile earlier hadn't dissipated yet completely.
"Go back to the apartment. Take a hot shower."
Aaron tucked his hands back into the pockets of his black jacket.
Gwen sniffed.
She knew she couldn't help. This level of commotion had long exceeded the handling range of a street hero.
Webs shot out, sticking to the glass of the nearby office building.
The White figure leveraged the momentum to swing and quickly merged into the rainy night.
Aaron withdrew his gaze.
The thumb of his right hand pressed against his middle finger.
Snap.
Amidst the crisp snapping sound, a blue spatial warp gate tore through the night wind.
Blue-White electric sparks danced along the edges, instantly evaporating the surrounding raindrops.
He stepped into it.
Outskirts of New York. Old Bridge town wasteland.
It was raining heavily.
Mud splatters were whipped up by the fierce wind, stinging painfully when hitting the face.
This wasteland usually didn't even have a ghost's Shadow, but now it was brightly lit.
Yellow cordon lines were pulled three layers deep inside and out. The temporarily erected transparent plastic rain canopy rattled in the wind.
Eight high-power strong light searchlights were erected high up, illuminating the muddy wasteland into a pale White.
Field Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. wore black waterproof raincoats.
They held assault rifles equipped with infrared scopes in their hands. The static noise in the communicators rose and fell.
Dozens of people surrounded a huge meteorite crater.
The bottom of the crater was filled with black muddy Water.
Lying in the center was a square-headed iron hammer.
The hammer handle was wrapped with old leather bindings. Complex Asgardian rune runes were carved on the surface. Despite being washed by the muddy Water, it remained spotless.
The outer perimeter of the cordon was in complete chaos.
"Stop him! Don't let him pass!"
An Agent roared at the top of his lungs, rain pouring into his mouth along his helmet.
A mud-covered blond brawny man was rushing into the crater like a crazy bull.
Thor.
He wore a wrinkled plaid shirt stained with yellow mud.
Without Mjolnir, his body was hollow, and he couldn't feel even a shred of divine power.
Now he only had the formidable physique of an Asgardian, as well as the combat instincts honed from conquering the Nine Realms for thousands of years.
An Agent raised a high-voltage stun baton and thrust it over.
Blue electric arcs burst from the tip of the baton.
Thor dodged to the side. With his left hand, he grabbed the tactical belt of the Agent.
Exerting force with a single arm, he directly lifted the two-hundred-pound adult man above his head.
And fiercely threw into the muddy Water pit.
Mud splashed, hitting the glass lens of the nearby searchlight.
Three or four Agents pounced from behind, tightly hugging his waist and arms.
Thor was pressed down to one knee.
His knees smashed into sharp stones hidden in the thick mud.
His pant legs were worn out, scraping out blood threads.
The mortal body made him feel a real pain he hadn't experienced for hundreds of years.
He gritted his teeth, a Beast-like roar bursting from his throat.
His elbow thrust violently backward.
It slammed into the chin of the riot helmet of the Agentbehind him. The crisp and piercing sound of bone cracking echoed, and the Agent rolled his eyes and collapsed softly.
Thor forcibly withstood the weight of several people and stood up.
Muddy Water streamed down his messy golden hair.
He punched the cheek of the Agent on the right, sending the man flying horizontally and knocking over the metal bracket of the searchlight.
The lights shook violently, and the White light beams swept around randomly in the rain curtain, dazzling people so they couldn't open their eyes.
"My hammer..."
Thor panted heavily. His lungs felt like they were stuffed with Fire.
His eyes stared fixedly at the iron hammer at the bottom of the crater.
That was the source of his power and the approval of his father Odin.
As long as he held it, he could split this cold rain and summon lightning again.
An Agent hiding in the dark drew an anesthesia gun.
He pulled the trigger.
A slender anesthetic needle pierced into Thor's right shoulder.
He gave a muffled grunt and pulled out the needle with a backhand.
The high-concentration sedative hadn't fully taken effect yet. Relying on brute force, he kicked over another guard blocking the way.
Scrambling and crawling, he broke through the last layer of the cordon.
Slipping down the slippery mud slope, he slid straight into the bottom of the meteorite crater.
Black muddy Water poured into his old leather boots, staining his ragged jeans.
Thor knelt in front of the iron hammer.
He panted heavily, his chest rising and falling violently.
The rain washed over his cheeks covered in mud and bruises.
He laughed.
His smile revealed the wild joy of recovering something that was lost.
He stretched out his trembling right hand.
Grasping the slippery leather hammer handle.
Five thick fingers locked tightly onto it.
"Ah!"
Thor roared, the muscles on his arms bulging chunk by chunk, and veins emerged on his wheat-colored skin.
He pulled upward with all his might.
The iron hammer remained motionless.
Not even a bit of the surrounding thick mud was brought up.
Thor was stunned.
The strength in his hands dissipated by half.
Rainwater dripped down the tip of his nose onto the cold metal hammer surface, splashing delicate Water flowers.
He refused to believe it.
With his feet apart, he firmly took a horse stance in the muddy Water.
Both hands overlapped, tightly gripping the hammer handle.
Exerting force from his waist and abdomen, he gritted his teeth until blood oozed from his gums.
His neck turned crimson, and his muscles strained like steel cables about to snap.
"Get up for me!"
Two deep craters were stepped out in the muddy ground under his feet.
The muddy Water submerged the back of his feet.
But that square-headed iron hammer was as if it had taken root in the Earth's core.
It lay quietly in the muddy Water, cruelly resisting its old master.
There was no familiar thunder to respond to him, no violent divine power pouring into his whole body.
Thor's strength was exhausted.
The effect of the anesthetic began to kick in, and a deep sense of powerlessness exuded from all his limbs and bones.
His legs went soft, and with a thud, he knelt into the thick mud.
His hands hung by his sides.
Despair drowned him like ice Water, depriving him of his last trace of pride and fantasy.
He was no longer Thor. He was just a mortal who couldn't even lift a hammer.
Thor raised his head.
Letting the cold winter rain smash onto his face.
"No—!"
The painful roar tore through the rainy night, carrying thousands of years of grievances and unwillingness.
At the edge of the crater.
The field Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. forgot to step forward to make an arrest.
Holding their guns, they stared blankly at the madman crying bitterly at the bottom of the crater.
The urging voice of the Officer came from the walkie-talkie under the rain canopy, but no one answered it.
Aaron had his hands stuffed into the pockets of his black jacket.
He bypassed the yellow cordon.
Rainwater fell on his shoulders, sliding down along the waterproof fabric.
No Agent stopped him.
Everyone's attention was drawn away by that despairing blond brawny man.
Even if the peripheral vision of an Agent swept across him, they were shocked by the leisurely and relaxed aura on him, subconsciously taking half a step back to make way.
Aaron stepped on the mud slope and slowly walked down the meteorite crater.
His cotton slippers were already covered in sticky yellow mud.
He walked over to Thor, who was kneeling and collapsing on the ground.
He stopped his footsteps.
The soles of his shoes stepped on the mud, making a faint Water sound.
He turned his head sideways.
His gaze crossed over Thor's shoulder and landed on the square-headed iron hammer lying quietly in the muddy Water.
Chapter 48: Sorry, I can not only lift Mjolnir, but also hold two
The cold winter rain was like dense steel needles, slamming into the stagnant water of the crater.
Water splashes flew up, staining the hem of Aaron's black jacket.
He stood at the bottom of the crater, looking down at his feet.
Thor knelt in the mud.
This blond, muscular man, nearly two meters tall, curled up into a ball at this moment.
His hands tightly covered his face, and his broad shoulders heaved with convulsive shudders.
Suppressed weeping leaked out from between his fingers, mixed with the sound of the wind and rain, exuding a desperation of reaching the end of the road.
Muddy water dripped down his stubble-filled chin, drawing a turbid muddy line.
Above the crater, several dazzling searchlight beams suddenly swept over.
The intersecting strong light hit Aaron's face, illuminating the surrounding rain threads to a pale white.
"Hey! The civilian in black down there!"
A middle-aged man with a high hairline stood on the edge of the muddy slope, holding a red and white megaphone in his hand.
Agent Coulson.
He wore a black suit drenched by the rain, with a shoddy transparent plastic raincoat worn over it.
The leather shoes on his feet slipped in the mud.
He staggered and almost fell flat on his face, quickly reaching out to grab the nearby yellow cordon railing.
"Fall back immediately! Step away from that contact object!"
Coulson shouted into the megaphone.
A harsh current noise came from the amplifier, and the sound was somewhat distorted in the rainy night.
Click.
Click.
The mechanical sounds of bolts pulling connected into one piece.
More than a dozen S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents raised their assault rifles.
The red laser sight lines passed through the dense rain curtain and landed squarely on Aaron's chest and forehead.
Aaron ignored the noise above.
He frowned slightly.
He looked down at his feet.
The cotton slippers were completely ruined.
Yellow mud poured into the shoe uppers, sticking slimily to the soles of his feet, wet and cold.
What a nuisance.
He put his left hand into his pocket.
His right foot pulled out of the muddy swamp, bringing up a muddy, sticky sound.
He took a step forward and stopped in front of the square-headed iron hammer.
Mjolnir.
Half of the hammer head was buried in the black muddy water.
The hammer handle with leather straps pointed diagonally towards the sky.
The rain hit the dull metal hammer surface, unable to even splash a drop of water, sliding directly down the edge.
Aaron bent down.
Extending his right hand, he grasped the slippery hammer handle tightly.
The leather was somewhat stiff, carrying a damp musty smell.
Coulson by the edge of the pit became anxious.
"Stop him! Don't let him touch that thing!"
Several Agents were just about to pull the triggers.
Aaron began to exert force.
He didn't strike any standard weightlifter's pose.
He just bent over casually like that.
His right hand fingers tightened, and he lifted upwards.
The iron hammer didn't move an inch.
Odin's death curse operated wildly inside the hammer body.
It anchored itself tightly to the gravitational field of this Planet, rejecting all unqualified souls.
To pick it up, one must either possess the heart of Thor or possess absolute strength surpassing the Planet.
Aaron felt that resistance.
The feel was very heavy, like pulling the entire Manhattanisland with one hand.
He licked his teeth and felt it was a bit interesting.
The muscle groups of the Steel Body instantly awakened from dormancy.
The terrifying density and strength poured directly into his right wrist along the arm bones.
Click click click.
The muddy ground under Aaron's feet emitted an unbearable groan.
He didn't use any techniques.
Under the reaction force, both of his feet sank directly into the depths of the mud pit, and the muddy water submerged his ankles.
The surrounding accumulated water was squeezed outward by invisible pressure, forming a two-meter-diameter vacuum circle.
There were no special effects of intertwined thunder and lightning.
There was no magic resonance of changing winds and clouds.
This was the purest, most savage physical violence.
Using absolute physical strength to forcibly tear apart the magic rules left by Odin on the hammer.
Creak—
The leather hammer handle made a painful pulling sound.
Immediately following was a muffled air sonic boom.
As if an invisible thick steel cable was forcibly snapped.
The iron hammer left the muddy water.
Aaron straightened his waist.
Holding this divine artifact of Asgard in one hand, he lifted it into mid-air.
The bottom of the hammer brought up a long string of black mud spots, flinging them into the nearby puddle.
The entire crater was dead silent.
The sound of the wind and rain seemed to be pressed onto the mute button in this second.
Coulson opened his mouth.
The red and white megaphone slipped from his hand.
Slamming into the mud, it rolled twice down the mud slope and fell into a puddle.
The assault rifles in the Agents' hands hung down, and the infrared rays swayed randomly in the mud pit.
Everyone stood dumbfounded like a patch of wooden stakes.
They had used winches.
Used high-horsepower pickup trucks, and even snapped high-strength industrial steel cables.
None of it could make this iron block move a fraction of an inch.
Now, it was lifted with one hand by this kid wearing cotton slippers.
Just like picking up an ordinary brick from the ground.
Thor's crying stuck in his throat.
He knelt at a place less than half a meter away from Aaron.
His face, full of muddy water, froze.
Rainwater washed his widened eyes, and he even forgot to blink.
He couldn't feel the thunder on the hammer.
Because there was no thunder at all.
This kid was using sheer brute force to force Mjolnir to leave the ground.
The magic restriction was forcibly torn apart by physical strength.
This made the crown prince of Asgard even more chilled than if the other party had gained the hammer's approval.
Aaron raised the iron hammer to his eyes.
Flipping his wrist, he tossed it casually a couple of times.
The heavy square-headed iron hammer rolled twice in mid-air and fell back into his palm.
Making a dull "pa" sound.
"The feel is a bit heavy."
Aaron muttered a sentence and shook his wrist.
"The hammer handle is too short, it's not handy to swing."
In order to farm more plot change rewards.
With a thought in his mind.
In the system space, that golden blind box farmed from Mysterio opened automatically.
A warm stream of light slid into his left hand along the nerves.
The air at the bottom of the crater twisted slightly.
A huge long-handled battle axe appeared out of thin air in Aaron's left hand.
The system replica version of Stormbreaker.
This axe was a whole circle larger than Mjolnir.
The rough branch-like wooden handle carried original ecological wood grain.
One end was a heavy square metal hammer face, and the other end was a sharp half-moon axe blade.
The metal surface gleamed with a faint, cold silver light.
The axe blade cut through the rain curtain, and the falling raindrops were directly split in two with smooth breaks.
Aaron held Stormbreaker in his left hand and Mjolnir in his right hand.
He weighed the weight of both weapons in mid-air.
The center of gravity of the battle axe was much better than the iron hammer.
The two divine artifacts crossed in the rain.
Clang.
He deliberately let the back of the axe and the hammer head touch gently.
The crisp metal collision sound traveled far away in the dead wasteland.
A visible white Impact rippled out from the collision point.
Instantly blowing the rainwater around the two into a dense white fog.
The water mist dispersed, and Aaron's wrist was steady, not shaking even a bit.
"This one is passable."
Aaron carried Stormbreaker on his right shoulder.
The thick axe handle pressed against the black jacket fabric.
His left hand casually held the leather tail strap of Mjolnir.
The square hammer head dangled by his leg, like a cheap iron steelyard weight.
Thor went completely crazy.
His proud Asgard worldview shattered into powder at this moment.
This Earthling not only picked up Mjolnir, which only kings could lift.
Even conjured out of thin air a battle axe that looked more terrifying than the hammer and carried the forging aura of the Dwarven royal family.
Is this still an Earthling?
He could no longer care about the muddy water all over the ground and the dignity belonging to a god.
Supporting himself with his hands in the sludge, he lunged forward, scrambling and crawling.
Mud splashed all over his face, pasting over his lips and eyelashes.
He lunged to Aaron's feet without any image.
Thor grabbed Aaron's mud-covered jeans leg.
His thick arms clamped it tightly, fearing that this man would run away.
He raised his head.
Rainwater streamed down his messy blond hair.
Washing his bruised corners of the eyes and split corners of the mouth.
Thor stared dead at Aaron's young, casual face.
His lips trembled violently, and his teeth knocked together making clattering sounds.
His brain had lost the ability to think, leaving only one absurd guess.
"Who... exactly are you?"
Thor swallowed a mouthful of cold rainwater, his Adam's apple rolling with difficulty.
His voice was hoarse, carrying a trace of absurd hope.
"Could it be that you are my father's illegitimate child wandering outside?"
Chapter 49 Thor was numb: Father, Earthlings are too terrifying.
Thor hugged Aaron's jeans tightly.
Muddy water streamed down his messy blonde hair, dripping onto Aaron's cotton slippers.
He looked up.
Because of excitement, a puff of white steam spewed from his nostrils.
"Could you be my father's illegitimate child wandering outside?"
This shout was Earth-shattering.
Not only did Aaron hear it.
The Agents by the crater heard it clearly.
The muzzles of a dozen assault rifles drooped instantly.
The Agents looked at each other in dismay.
Someone reached out to pat their helmet, thinking water had gotten into the communicator and caused static interference.
This scene was too absurd.
Aaron's mouth twitched.
Was this blonde hunk's head filled with charred remains left by lightning?
He flicked his left hand in disgust.
Mjolnir flew out of his hand.
The square-headed iron hammer did a somersault in mid-air.
And smashed back into the original mud pit.
Bang!
A muffled explosion sounded.
The moment the iron hammer hit the ground, Odin's magicrestriction locked back onto the Earth.
A circle of violent white airflow exploded from the bottom of the crater with a boom.
Muddy water mixed with sand and gravel sprayed in all directions like buckshot.
Coulson by the edge of the crater had just crawled up from the muddy ground.
He raised the megaphone and had just shouted, "Attention all units."
The airflow slapped right onto his face.
Coulson was sent flying.
The black suit rolled twice against the mud slope and plunged headfirst into a muddy puddle.
The cheap plastic raincoat hung on a tree branch, torn into two long halves.
A few murky mud bubbles popped up in the puddle.
Aaron ignored the chaos above.
He raised his right leg.
The sole of his shoe pressed against Thor's broad shoulders, applying a little force.
Thor was kicked backward, falling flat on his backside into the thick mud.
Filthy water splashed all over his head and face.
With a thought from Aaron.
The Stormbreaker carried on his right shoulder turned into a streak of light and was retracted into the system space.
The heavy sense of oppression vanished out of thin air.
"Get lost."
Aaron patted the mud stains on his jeans legs.
"I am a native-born Earthling. Your old man doesn't have the ability to give birth to me."
Thor sat blankly in the puddle.
The cold winter rain beat against his bloodless face.
He turned his head to look at the iron hammer at the bottom of the pit.
The leather straps were stained with yellow mud.
He looked again at Aaron's back wearing cotton slippers.
His Asgardian worldview was completely shattered.
Odin's spell said that only those with the status of a king could pick up the hammer.
Yet any random half-grown fellow on Earth picked it up with one hand.
Not only could he pick it up.
He could also conjure an even more exaggerated giant battle axe.
Thor covered his face with both hands.
His blonde hair clung tightly to his scalp, looking extremely disheveled.
He felt that Earth was too terrifying.
Anyone casually picked out from this place had physical strength even fiercer than Asgard's god of war.
Without divine power, he was not even as good as a mortal here.
Earlier at the hospital, he was pinned to the ground and beaten by security guards.
And just now he was poked all over by several stun batons until his whole body went numb.
"Father... What kind of monster pile have you thrown me into?"
Thor muttered softly.
Tears flowed down again mixed with rain.
He didn't even have the strength to stand up.
Aaron looked at this decadent Thor.
Asgard's crown prince now looked like a chubby boy whose lollipop had been snatched away.
He touched his chin.
If Thor were left here and ignored, the plot direction would be too boring.
The Tesseract, Loki, the Chitauri army.
In the future, he would still count on this big guy to deal with all those messy troubles in the Nine Realms.
In the layout of the future multiverse, Thor was a very useful high-level worker.
Aaron walked over and grabbed the back collar of Thor's plaid shirt.
The shirt was already soaked through, making the sound of tearing fabric.
"Let's go."
Aaron yanked him straight up from the muddy ground.
Thor was hoisted in mid-air like a tattered sack.
"Treat you to a meal. This damn weather is too cold."
On the edge of Old Bridge Town.
A small diner with red neon lights glowing.
The letter D on the sign for "Diner" was broken, flashing and emitting a sizzling current sound.
The restaurant was filled with the greasy smell of cheap french fries and fried hamburger patties.
Aaron and Thor sat in a red faux-leather booth by the window.
The rain outside was still falling.
The glass window was covered in winding water streaks.
There weren't many people in the restaurant.
Only a chubby waiter was wiping glasses behind the counter.
Three empty huge beer mugs were placed on the table.
Thor grabbed the fourth glass of iced beer and gulped it down with his head up.
His Adam's apple rolled up and down.
Golden liquor trickled down his chin into the collar of his filthy shirt, and he was too lazy to even wipe it.
With a bang.
He slammed the empty glass cup onto the dining table.
Making the stainless steel napkin holder beside it jump straight up.
He let out a loud hiccup.
A strong aroma of malt and alcohol drifted over.
Thor grabbed the fifth glass again and gulped down half of it in one breath.
He slumped over the table, his broad shoulders drooping.
Like a defeated golden retriever.
"Without divine power." Thor patted the tabletop, his voice hoarse.
"I can't lift the hammer. I can't protect Jane."
He grabbed his hair hard a couple of times, messing his blonde hair up like a bird's nest.
"I am just trash... Not even as good as an Earth high schooler."
Aaron sat opposite him.
Holding a toothpick in his hand, he listlessly poked at half a french fry in his plate.
Hearing Thor's complaint, he threw the toothpick into the plastic plate.
His right hand reached into the pocket of his black jacket.
His thumb and index finger pinched something and pulled it out.
Clatter.
He casually threw that thing onto the greasy fireproof dining table.
It was a shriveled green bean.
The surface was pitted, looking like a bad pea that had been left out for half a year.
Under the red neon light, it looked completely unremarkable.
Thor stopped the action of gulping wine.
With red eyes, he stared at the bean on the table.
"What is this?" He hiccuped.
Aaron leaned forward.
Resting his elbows on the tabletop.
"Eat it."
Chapter 50: Opening a blind box to get a Senzu Bean and casually feeding it to Thor
The green, shriveled bean rolled twice on the greasy, fireproof board dining table.
It got stained with a bit of ketchup leaking from the fast-food tray.
Finally stopping on Thor's left side.
Thor hiccuped.
A strong smell of malt fermentation hit the glass window.
He lowered his head, leaning close to the bean that was only the size of a fingernail.
The surface of the bean was pitted, like a bad pea left out for half a month.
"Can this thing be eaten?" Thor's voice was hoarse.
He stretched out his thick index finger and nudged the bean.
Muddy water rubbed against the red tabletop through the gaps in his fingers.
"Eat it." Aaron leaned against the back of the artificial leather sofa.
With his arms crossed.
This was a Senzu Bean that dropped out when he opened a daily blind box a few days ago.
It had been thrown in the corner of the system space gathering dust all along.
For his Steel Body, this thing couldn't even be considered a snack.
But for repairing the fatigue of mortal flesh, the effect was better than any divine medicine.
Thor curled his lips.
He didn't want to eat this thing that looked like mouse droppings.
But his stomach grumbled in a timely manner.
Just now, after a fight with the S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent in the mud pit, his physical strength had long been overdrawn to the limit.
Alcohol had numbed the nerves in his stomach again.
He rudely grabbed the ketchup-stained bean and threw it straight into his mouth.
Crunch.
His teeth bit the bean into pieces.
There was no bursting juice, no strange liquid.
The texture was dry, like chewing a piece of dehydrated hard sawdust.
Thor picked up the remaining half cup of beer at his side, tilted his head, and forcefully washed the bean down his throat.
"There's no taste at all..."
Thor's words were unfinished, and his voice got stuck right in his throat.
He suddenly widened his eyes.
The glass beer mug in his hand shook a bit. Two drops of wine splashed out and hit the back of his hand.
A rolling hot current exploded in his stomach without warning.
It was like igniting a miniature volcano in his belly.
The hot current did not destroy his internal organs.
It rushed wildly along his blood vessels to all four limbs and bones.
Thor shivered violently all over.
The dizziness brought by the alcohol was instantly washed away cleanly.
His brain was clearer than ever before.
The purple bruises on his cheeks faded at a speed visible to the naked eye.
The scorched wounds poked out by the stun baton formed white hard scabs.
Then the hard scabs fell off, revealing the newborn pink skin underneath.
Thor stood up abruptly.
His thigh hit the edge of the table, pushing it backward by half a foot horizontally.
The table legs rubbed against the floor tiles, making a harsh creaking sound.
The fat waiter behind the counter was so frightened that he dropped the rag in his hand into the sink.
Thor looked at his hands in disbelief.
His ten fingers clenched tightly, and his knuckles made a crisp sound like popping beans.
The soreness in his bones was gone.
His muscle fibers were once again filled with explosive power.
He felt that he could now punch a Frost Beast to death with one punch.
Without the fury of Thor's power.
Without thunder wandering in the blood vessels.
But this was his peak physical vitality as an Asgardian.
"Th... What magic is this?"
Thor stammered.
He raised his hands in front of his eyes and looked at them back and forth.
He touched his ribs that had hurt terribly just a moment ago. They were intact.
He turned his head and stared fixedly at the young man drinking plain water opposite him.
His gaze changed completely.
No longer looking at an ordinary Earth civilian.
But looking at a hidden magic master.
"Is there actually such a divine medicine on Earth?" Thorgasped heavily.
The image of Aaron lifting Mjolnir with one hand flashed through his mind.
A person who could crush him in physical strength and casually pull out such a heaven-defying magical medicine.
This was definitely a hidden powerhouse.
Thor's brain circuits had always been very simple.
If he couldn't beat him and was given benefits, then they would be brothers.
He grabbed the newly served large beer mug on the table.
It was filled with steaming cold butterbeer.
Thor raised the cup over his head.
Laughing heroically, the laughter made the glass windows of the small restaurant buzz.
"Aaron!"
Thor roared, his thick arm reaching across the dining table.
The wine glass almost hit Aaron's nose.
"Not only did you help me repel those guards in black suits, but you also gave me such precious divine medicine to eat!"
Aaron leaned back to avoid the splashing beer foam.
He pulled a tissue and wiped away the water droplets splashing on the table.
"From today on, you are the brother of Thor Odinson!"
Thor pushed the wine glass forward heavily.
"The God of War of Asgard acknowledges you as the boss! Bottoms up!"
Aaron looked at the blond strong man covered in mud and overly excited in front of him.
Having a bit of a headache.
This guy's IQ was indeed not quite enough.
A bad bean bought off the crown prince of the Nine Realms.
Aaron picked up the plain water cup in front of him.
The bottom of the cup left the tabletop.
Preparing to clink glasses casually and dismiss this drunkard.
Just at the moment when the two cups were about to touch.
The temperature in the restaurant dropped sharply without warning.
The air that was still a bit sultry just now instantly formed white frost.
The breath Aaron exhaled turned into clear white fog.
Click click click.
Subtle freezing sounds sounded on the dining table.
The foamy butterbeer in Thor's hand quickly condensed a thick layer of ice shell on the surface.
The ice spread down the cup wall.
In less than half a second, the whole cup of beer froze into a hard piece of yellow ice lump.
Thor's smile froze on his face.
He shivered.
The muddy water stained on his shirt was forced by the cold air and frozen hard.
The plain water in Aaron's hand also froze.
The base of the glass even froze together with the fireproof board tabletop, unable to be pulled away.
The old radiator in the corner was covered with a layer of white frost on its surface.
"My foolish brother."
A chilling and bone-piercing voice.
Sounded in the innermost corner of the restaurant.
The sound was not loud, but its penetrating power was extremely strong.
Carrying a condescending mockery and contempt. Like a rusted ice awl scraping across sheet iron.
Thor shook all over.
He turned his head abruptly, his blond hair swinging against his cheeks.
"Loki?"
The shadows in the corner twisted and dispersed like water ripples.
Accompanied by a subtle magical hum.
A figure walked out from the shadows.
He was wearing a dark green Asgardian leather armor.
The leather armor was inlaid with dark golden metal trims.
The shoulder armor rose high.
A head of black semi-long hair was combed neatly backward, without a trace of disorder.
Loki held a long metal staff in his right hand.
At the tip of the staff, a gemstone emitting an eerie blue light was inlaid.
The blue light illuminated the surrounding air chillingly and pale.
He stepped on black combat boots.
Stopping two meters away from the booth.
A signature sneer hung on his pale face.
"Actually reduced to acknowledging a mortal as a boss?"
Loki looked at Thor, and the Mind Stone in his hand hammered heavily on the ground.
The dull metal collision sound echoed in the frozen restaurant.
