The glow from Li Wei's left hand grew brighter, casting eerie shadows on the wooden floor. His heart pounded as he raised his trembling fingers and stared at the mark that pulsed like a heartbeat.
Thump… Thump… Thump…
"This… what is happening to me?" Li Wei whispered.
Suddenly, a rush of warmth surged through his veins. His frail body, once so weak, now felt as though it was being reforged in flames. He gasped, clutching his chest, as visions flashed before his eyes.
A battlefield drenched in blood.
Gods and mortals clashing under a broken sky.
And at the center—a man who bore the same mark.
The vision ended as quickly as it came, leaving Li Wei breathless and drenched in sweat.
"This mark… it's not just decoration. It's a key."
Outside, the night wind howled, rattling the windows. Li Wei clenched his fist, and for the first time, he felt a spark of strength coursing through him. It was faint, but it was real.
The door creaked open, and Mei Ling peeked inside, her eyes widening when she saw the glow fading from his hand.
"Li Wei… what did you just do?"
He looked at her, his expression solemn.
"I don't know yet. But I think… this world has given me a second chance. And I won't waste it."
