Chapter 12 Attack
"Has Danzo returned?"
Yakushi Nonou resignedly sat up from the bed and asked.
The Root Ninja outside the door hesitated for a second. Remembering Aburame Ryoma's instructions, he still didn't reveal that Danzo had died. He merely said, "You'll know when you get there."
Yakushi Nonou didn't notice anything unusual and got up and went out.
When she arrived, Aburame Ryoma, Torune Aburame, and Fu Yamanaka were already there.
Aburame Ryoma and Fu Yamanaka were trusted subordinates of Danzo, privy to many secrets, and were often tasked with clandestine affairs.
Torune Aburame, however, looked very young and unfamiliar, likely a junior who emerged after her retirement.
Yakushi Nonou speculated in her mind.
Before she even walked over, she heard Fu Yamanaka's impatient voice: "Ryoma, what on earth is going on? The Priestess is here too, so you can tell us now, right? I'm still very busy! Danzo's task for me isn't finished yet…"
Yakushi Nonou silently stood in a corner, making herself inconspicuous.
She really didn't want to have any more involvement with Root. If she had a choice, she probably wouldn't return here for the rest of her life.
Seeing everyone assembled, Aburame Ryoma stopped playing coy and dropped a bombshell: "Danzo is dead."
"What?!"
Fu Yamanaka, Yakushi Nonou, and Torune Aburame all changed drastically in expression.
Anger surged on Fu Yamanaka's face, and he urgently pressed, "What happened? Didn't Danzo go to the Hokage Building? How could he be dead?"
Torune Aburame, standing beside him, didn't speak but his eyes were spitting fire.
As for Yakushi Nonou, after the initial shock, she immediately pulled out a mirror to check her tongue.
Aburame Ryoma observed the changes in their expressions. Fu Yamanaka and Torune Aburame's reactions were within his expectations. Yakushi Nonou's immediate check of the Tongue Implantation Curse Seal made him nod secretly, thinking, "As expected."
After Yakushi Nonou saw her clean, unblemished tongue in the mirror, it felt as if a great weight had been lifted from her heart, and a look of relief flashed in her eyes.
Wait, if Danzo is dead, does that mean she doesn't have to return to Root anymore? And she doesn't have to pay back the money either?
A look of pleasant surprise flashed in Yakushi Nonou's eyes. Thinking of this, she decisively spoke up, "I suddenly remembered I have something to do. I'll be leaving now."
Without waiting for their response, she gracefully departed.
She didn't care who killed Danzo, nor was she interested in avenging him, or participating in any of it. She just wanted to return to that warm and cozy orphanage to take care of the children.
Aburame Ryoma quietly watched Yakushi Nonou leave and did not stop her. He even held back Fu Yamanaka, who was furious and wanted to forcibly keep Yakushi Nonou.
Fu Yamanaka stomped his foot in anger: "That damned bitch! Danzo showed her such immense kindness, yet she shows no gratitude, a white-eyed wolf!"
Torune Aburame also had a look of indignation.
Neither of them noticed tiny black insects silently crawling onto their bodies.
"Let her go. She never belonged here anyway."
Aburame Ryoma said, his eyes gleaming with an inexplicable light.
...
Hokage Building.
After Fugaku finished his verbal sparring with Kakashi, he was about to pull up a chair to sit down when his gaze suddenly shifted.
Whoosh!
The ground trembled. Fugaku looked back to see several arm-thick vines emerging from the ground, coiling around him like venomous snakes.
Fugaku remained calm. Wood Release, huh? He chuckled, scanning his surroundings, and quickly found the caster hidden on a nearby rooftop.
At this moment, the vines reached him.
A crimson light flashed in Fugaku's eyes, and a large mass of black flames appeared out of thin air, like spilled water, falling directly onto the attacking vines. Almost instantly, the vines melted and were reduced to ashes.
Yamato was greatly alarmed, "What kind of flames are those? They instantly countered my Wood Release: Thorns of Death Jutsu?!"
"What kind of Ninjutsu is that?"
Might Guy, standing nearby, asked in surprise. It was his first time seeing black flames.
"Amaterasu, flames that never extinguish until their target is incinerated."
Fugakue glanced at him. He was in a good mood, so he chuckled and explained.
After his eyes merged into the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan, he could use Itachi's Mangekyo Sharingan's ocular Ninjutsu.
This meant he now had four ocular Ninjutsu at his disposal.
Tsukuyomi, Future Line, and Itachi's Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi.
The Future Line ocular Ninjutsu was a bit of a letdown, offering some ability to foresee and evolve the future to gain information, but its ocular power consumption was terrifying. He had seen Fugaku use this ocular Ninjutsu a few times in Fugaku's memories, but the results were never great. Since he already knew all the plot, he decisively relegated it to the cold palace, vowing never to use it again.
The abilities of Tsukuyomi and Tsukuyomi also overlapped.
All things considered, he only gained Amaterasu, which was better than nothing!
"Flames that never extinguish?"
Yamato also heard the man's words below and was greatly shocked.
He gritted his teeth and quickly formed hand signs.
He wanted to see if these black flames truly never extinguished, as the man claimed.
You can counter Thorns of Death Jutsu, but what about this move?
"Wood Release: Violent Spear Jutsu!"
Yamato yelled, his hands forming seals, ending with the Ram sign. His shoulders rippled, and suddenly two blurs burst forth. On closer inspection, they were two gigantic trees rapidly extending towards Fugaku in front of the Hokage Building below.
Fugaku narrowed his eyes. This time, he didn't use Amaterasu. Those two giant trees were connected to Yamato's body, and if Amaterasu burned them, it wouldn't be good if it incinerated the boy.
Although this boy's Wood Release power was less than one-thousandth of Senju Hashirama's, he was an excellent hand at building houses. He didn't want to destroy this master builder.
Since Amaterasu couldn't be used, then he would use that move.
The thought flashed through his mind, and the two gigantic trees arrived before him.
"How is it? Did it succeed?"
Yamato saw Uchiha Fugaku standing still, seemingly not resisting, and anticipation filled his heart.
However, in the next instant, his expression changed drastically again.
He saw a gigantic arm appear out of nowhere, blocking Uchiha Fugaku's path and firmly gripping the two large trees.
"What is this?!"
Yamato had never seen such Ninjutsu before. What was this red, gigantic arm?
Fu Yue was also using Susanoo for the first time, and he curiously examined Fugaku's Susanoo.
Its color was red, the same color as Uchiha Itachi's Susanoo.
He didn't manifest the full Susanoo, only a single arm.
This place wasn't very spacious. Summoning the complete Susanoo would inevitably cause surrounding buildings and terrain to collapse.
The coup d'état had already succeeded, and he didn't want to cause too much commotion and attract the curiosity of the surrounding onlookers.
One arm was enough to defend.
Fugaku's thoughts stirred slightly. With a gentle pull from the Susanoo's large hand, Yamato, the source of the giant trees, was yanked down.
