Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: Happy Naruto

Chapter 33: Happy Naruto

The next morning.

A rare sight greeted the Uchiha household: the whole family had gathered together for breakfast.

Naruto was there, too.

"Is that enough rice, Naruto? Auntie can get you more," Mikoto asked warmly.

"It's enough, it's enough! Thank you, Auntie!"

Naruto beamed, hugging the bowl of rice close and digging in with glee. Between bites, he glanced up—only to catch Sasuke glaring at him with visible resentment.

Naruto blinked, completely confused.

Sasuke clenched his fists.

This idiot was making himself at home way too fast.

"Hmph! I'm full."

Sasuke had barely eaten, but his mood had already soured. He stood, grabbed his backpack, and stormed out.

Seeing Sasuke leave, Naruto hurriedly stuffed a few more mouthfuls of rice into his mouth and shouted around a mouthful of food, "I'm full too! See ya!"

Then he bolted after Sasuke.

As soon as he stepped outside, he spotted Sasuke turning a corner in the distance. Naruto's eyes lit up and he sprinted after him.

"Sasuke! Wait up!"

His voice echoed loudly through the morning streets, catching the attention of several passing Uchiha clansmen.

Suddenly aware of the stares, Naruto slowed, his eyes dropping to the ground. He remembered the villagers who used to curse at him—who once hurled rotten food and insults at his back.

His footsteps faltered.

Will they throw stuff at me too?

But instead of disdain, one of the Uchiha elders smiled kindly and said, "Good morning, Naruto. Off to school?"

Naruto blinked. He looked up and saw only warm, welcoming eyes.

His worry melted away.

With a huge grin, he nodded eagerly. "Mm! Good morning, Uncles and Aunties! See ya!"

The Uchiha villagers had been told ahead of time. Last night, Clan Head Fugaku ordered Ryoichi to pass along the message:

Be kind to Naruto. Greet him warmly. Treat him as one of our own.

Naruto, of course, had no idea he was being managed like a PR project.

All he felt was pure joy.

He ran down the street, light as air, thinking:

Coming back with Uncle last night… was the best decision ever!

This place—this clan—was where he truly belonged.

Why didn't I come here sooner?!

There was a kind auntie who made him clothes…

A cool big brother in Itachi…

A scary but awesome uncle who looked out for him…

Everyone here was so nice!

Naruto was so happy he felt like he could take off flying at any moment.

Meanwhile, at the breakfast table, Fugaku casually brought up another matter.

"We'll begin the moving process today. I'll let you all know once the exact date is confirmed."

He then finished his meal and prepared to leave.

Despite now being Hokage, Fugaku's work hours were completely under his control—unlike the rigid, exhausting schedules of his past life.

But… since this was only his second day on the job, he had to maintain some semblance of discipline.

Even if it was just for show.

---

The Hokage's Office

The job came with its fair share of responsibilities—S-rank, A-rank, and select B-rank missions still passed through the Hokage's desk for review. Urgent missions required immediate assignment to qualified shinobi. Non-urgent ones were logged in the Mission Department, available for ninja to pick up voluntarily.

Fugaku, however, had no intention of micromanaging.

He planned to streamline the system.

Only S-rank missions and above would reach him. A-rank and below?

Delegated to the Hokage Assistant.

Who was that assistant?

Nara Shikaku.

The man was born for this.

Fugaku dumped all trivial matters on Shikaku's plate—unapologetically.

By noon, Fugaku had already carved out a massively reduced workload compared to past Hokage.

Still, he held on to critical responsibilities—just enough to maintain control.

---

During that time, Fugaku sent people to survey the old Uchiha clan grounds.

Seven years ago, following the Nine-Tails attack, Hiruzen Sarutobi had forcibly relocated the Uchiha to a far-flung edge of the village.

That land—the Uchiha's ancestral grounds—was seized and divided among the power-hungry elite:

The Sarutobi Clan took the largest share.

The rest went to the Shimura, Utatane, and Mitokado clans.

All of them had gotten rich from it.

But now?

The Sarutobi and Shimura clans were annihilated.

The Utatane and Mitokado clans were wiped out just two nights ago.

The old Uchiha grounds were finally vacant.

A few hours later, Fugaku's men returned to report:

All unrelated personnel had been cleared.

The grounds had changed after years of renovations by the Sarutobi and others, but that was expected.

Fugaku wasn't in a rush to move.

He instructed the Great Elder—now serving as his clan advisor—to handle the relocation logistics.

His estimate? One week.

After that, no more long walks to the Hokage Building.

Because the old Uchiha compound was just minutes away from the Hokage Tower.

Commute? Practically nonexistent.

And now that most of his duties were delegated, he could just send a Shadow Clone to work and take the day off if he wanted.

Life was looking good.

Fugaku leaned back in his chair, already dreaming of lazy mornings and efficient governance.

---

Over the past two days, thanks to Nara Shikaku's impeccable planning, the Third Hokage's death caused no ripple in Konoha.

Why?

1. The Sarutobi and Shimura clans had been wiped out too quickly to cause chaos.

2. The major noble clans had already pledged loyalty to Fugaku.

3. Even ROOT had sworn allegiance.

In Konoha, most Jonin came from noble clans.

Civilian ninja rarely had the resources to rise to that level on their own—no access to elite jutsu, no personal mentors, and often no clan to back them.

They started at a disadvantage and fell further behind with every step.

So, with the noble clans united under him, the few civilian Jonin left had no real voice.

Their influence? Negligible.

They had no choice but to obey.

Even Might Guy, hot-blooded as ever, had once planned to open the Eight Inner Gates and challenge Fugaku to the death.

But after Kakashi talked him down… he shelved the idea—for now.
