Chapter 63 - A Bladesmith in Another World: Chapter 63 - The Statue of the Omnipresent God

Before the Statue of the Omnipresent God

Muramasa looked at the untouched stone and discussed the carving parameters with the surrounding craftsmen. "I'll leave the rough outline to you guys. This old man will handle the final detailed carving."

None of the veteran craftsmen had any objection to this seemingly amateur smith taking on the most precise work.

"You're still in Inazuma City." Kujou Sara happened to be patrolling here and saw the craftsmen gathered with Muramasa. As the General approached, the craftsmen couldn't help but tense up.

"Oh, wasn't that your request?" Muramasa was confused by her question. If he remembered correctly, this was what she had asked for.

"..."

There had indeed been such a matter, but with the battle and the vouching that had happened afterward, Sara had assumed the matter was dropped. "I had forgotten." Although she had proposed it, it was ultimately the Yashiro Commission that handled the statistics and decided which craftsmen to hire, so it didn't matter that she didn't know.

As she spoke, her gaze fell upon the craftsmen, and she noticed they were playing with a small 'statue' in their hands. "What is this?" Observing its shape, she found it somewhat familiar. It looked very similar to the design blueprint for the Statue of the Omnipresent God.

The craftsman holding the statue, hearing her question, immediately and respectfully held it out. "Ah... this was made by the smith. According to him, it's a model for reference?" As he spoke, he stole a glance at her, but she didn't seem to be listening.

This craftsmanship... this level of detail… As if possessed, she inwardly assessed the value of this object.

"You're drooling." From the side, Muramasa's deadpan comment came. But she ignored it, her gaze lingering on the small statue for a long time before she finally pulled it back.

"Mm, it has some of the Shogun's divine grace. But the details are still lacking." From her earlier and current performance, even if the sky fell, that stubborn mouth of hers would probably remain intact.

To this, Muramasa made no comment. "But if the final details are all left to me, then I don't need to participate in the early stages, right?" While she was still being stubborn, he discussed some details with the other craftsmen.

"Haha, you're right…" The craftsman, seeing that the smith who had made the statue was silent, could only勉强 agree with the slightly scheming general. But her thoughts were clearly elsewhere, and after his agreement, she said no more.

Muramasa chatted with the other craftsmen for a long time. Sara also waited for a long time. The craftsman also waited for Sara for a long time… Seriously, should I just leave? And why aren't you going back to work? The craftsman didn't dare to say it out loud, only grumbling internally about this chain of waiting.

"Lady Sara, how about you take this statue for now? I still have work to do, and it's a bit inconvenient to hold onto this…"

Hearing these very welcome words, Sara finally brought her attention back to the statue and took the small object with both hands. "You have a point. I'll take good care of it."

Yes, yes, anyone can see that! He thought to himself, but his face was still smiling. "Alright, then I'll be going!" With that, he ran off in a couple of steps and returned to his work.

As he ran off, her attention was immediately drawn back to the statue in her hands…

"Aren't you going to continue your patrol?" After Muramasa finished his discussion and decided on his scope of duties, he noticed she was still there. So he went over and took his statue from her hands. Only then did he realize she was barely holding it, her hands not even daring to touch the figure itself.

"It's my break time now." Seeing the 'statue' disappear from her view, she slowly looked up at him and said without any nonsense, "I have a private commission I'd like to ask of you."

"What? You want me to carve one for you too?" Seeing her so attached to this thing, he could roughly guess.

After nodding in agreement, she added, "That's one of them. I have other statues in my room. Could I trouble you to come and maintain them periodically? We can discuss the payment when I have time."

Never expecting this imposing general to have such a hobby, Muramasa thought for a moment. "I can, but not recently. Though I'm the type who never refuses a request, I have too much on my plate right now."

Hearing him, Sara understood. After all, he was a top-tier craftsman.

"I—FOUND—YOU—!!!"

A loud voice came from the distance, dragging a trail of dust, and charged straight for Kujou Sara. The person was burly, far beyond that of a normal person, yet exuded an unshakable childishness. With a voice loud enough for the entire city to hear and exaggerated movements, he stood not far away and shouted, "You tengu, let's duel!"

To this, the 'tengu' in question just wearily rested her hand on her forehead and thought, Here we go again.

"What's going on?" Looking at the exaggerated movements, Muramasa pointed at the guy and asked.

"Arataki Itto. He's a delinquent from Hanamizaka," Sara replied, her troubled expression overflowing. "After his Vision was confiscated, he's been constantly posting challenges on the message board, trying to get it back. I admire this oni's courage, but the method of dueling…" She took a deep breath, her face a mixture of annoyance and disgust. "Is sumo wrestling. So I refused. But it seems his persistence is extraordinary."

Even if she had felt a sense of admiration at first, now all that was left was annoyance. Not to mention her wounds hadn't healed, and this method itself was not very elegant and involved physical contact. It was hard to tell if this person was just simple-minded or had other intentions.

"Hmm…" Muramasa's gaze fell on her shoulder, where the wound from his sword a few days ago was. "In that case, how about I accept the challenge for you?"

"Hm?" She looked at him, surprised that he would voluntarily get involved.

"Of course, as long as you don't drag me to the Commissioner's Office."

"Naturally." Being harassed like this every day was not a solution. If this could be resolved, it would be a good thing.

"Then." Getting her approval, Muramasa stretched his muscles and walked towards Arataki Itto. Kujou Sara, knowing his skill, simply closed her eyes, unwilling to watch the brutal scene.
