Chapter 19 - 19: The Arrival of Old Granpa Sarin

In the scurry at the hospital, Ezra sits quietly in a chair in the waiting room. Peinaire and Caspian are pacing around, helping with the documents and perhaps calling home for an assurance. The Sarin may join them soon, so they need to make some preparations.

Tul has been brought to the Examiner Room for outpatient care. He is dehydrated, almost burned from the waist down. But, he is alright. It's the emotional part that needs to be taken care of. So, Peinaire reaches out to Dr. Snow, a psychiatrist specialist for ABO; who is also a family friend.

As for Cirrus, he is currently in a critical state. Let's just put a simple term about it; his soul has been suck out of his body. That Beta is on the verge between Heaven and Hell. The doctors are working hard in the ER to save him.

What about ThongFa?

The last time Ezra heard, the Golden Alpha was no worse than Cirrus. He might have lost his eyesight temporarily; the aftermath of using his power excessively. Not to mention, he is wearing off. Fighting a monster tires him and he needs a lot of medical attention and rest.

All the incidents above are not the reason why Ezra sits still with his body in tremors. What he just saw, and things that he fought; those are what make him insane now. He is aware that Fa is a Golden Alpha—maybe he does have that kind of power—but, what in the world did he see? A fire lion, trying to kill Cirrus? The chant that Fa recited? His third eye had been open?

What was all that about?

Who are these people? Are they just an ABO family? Or more than that?

Peinaire and Caspian suddenly ran on their feet. The door of the waiting room is open, revealing three people; Mei, Cabot, and another unknown figure. He steps in first; followed by Mei and Cabot. Peinaire and Caspian remain still at the door.

Ezra is on his feet once he sees Mei and Cabot. His eyes then shoot onto the male who is standing in front of him. The male crooks up the corner of his lips. With his slender index finger, he flicks Ezra's chin and studies the Omega's face.

"He looks like a stubborn cub..." the male throws a comment. Ezra tries to act natural, but, he is too shocked and fails to fake the nervous face.

"He's nothing like you, Mei. I can remember the first time you came to the mansion, you were demure and soft, like cotton," the eyes pierce sharply at Ezra. "But, this one... He looked like a kitten fell into the drain..."

"He was helping Alpha Fa fighting the monster just now, Father..."

Father?

Ezra blinks his eyes in disbelief. His mind works hard to remember the family tree of Sarin. If this is the father, that means it's either that Golden Omega of Old Granpa Sarin...

Or maybe...

"Bow down, Omega. This is Enigma Young, your Old Granpa Sarin."

Ezra immediately falls on his knees and bows his head low. He is the most powerful figure in the A Nation; the head of the Sarin himself! He bites his lower lip, cursing in silence for his slow witty act! He is too lax to even bow to the elders, now he has to face this humiliation!

"I am so sorry, Enigma Young! I am unaware of your presence—"

"You must've forgotten to include my picture in the manual again, Mei..."

Mei nods elegantly. "I am sorry, Father. But, I don't have your latest picture. Those pictures, were too outdated."

"Hmm.. never mind. Meeting in real life is even better, don't you think, little cub?" Young smirks before he flicks his finger, forcing Ezra to reveal his face under the white light. The movement is subtle; and Young doesn't even touch that little Omega's skin at all. He only uses his power to control Ezra.

"Say, what's your name?"

"I... I'm Ezra Han, Enigma..."

"Han?" Young frowns, a crest forms on his forehead, yet he still looks flawless and beautiful. "Why haven't you changed your surname yet?"

"Omega Ezra already changed his name in the registration—"

"Mei..." Young glares at his daughter-in-law. "I want to hear the answer from Ezra."

"I'm sorry, Father," Mei bows politely. She takes it as a cue to let that young Omega handle this matter by himself. No more guiding, no more protecting.

Young turns to Ezra, still waiting for him to answer his inquiry. That young Omega forces his slow-motion brain to think fast, but feels divided in between.

How should he respond to this?

"Alpha Fa hasn't marked me yet, so I am still not one of the Sarin—"

"Then you shouldn't be here. This room is only for the Sarin family."

Everyone shoots a horrified look.

"But—" Ezra lifts his head, staring at Young in panic. Now he understands why Cirrus corrected him before. It's to prepare him for this day. The day when he faces the real deal; the powerful leader of the Sarin himself.

"Father, it's not like that..." Cabot butts in, trying to save the helpless Omega. "Omega Ezra has just humbled himself. Sarin is a well-known family, and to be one of the members, he needs to prove his worth first. That's what he did now."

Young squints his eyes, giving away a sharp glance. "So, you're indeed a stubborn one. You refuse the surname because you want to stand on your own, huh?"

Ezra has no choice but to nod. He has no other answer than that. He could give out the worst one—his heart isn't connecting to the family yet—but, why dig his own grave? He was almost kicked out of the room just because he used his old surname. No risk should be taken after that!

"Ambitious is good. But, you need to feel grateful to be a part of a family. At least, you have a support system. Remember that," Young calmly explains.

Ezra stands up. He scoots away from Young politely. "I'll take the advice with an open mind, Enigma Young."

"It's weird to be called Enigma Young!" Young scoffs. "My grandchildren call me Old Granpa Sarin. Even those Beta helpers call me the same. Tsk, I need to get used to it!"

"Give Omega Ezra some time, father."

Young nods at Cabot. Among his children, he respects Cabot the most. It's not like he doesn't love the other two, but Cabot's calmness and wise mind are the most valuable treasure for that Enigma.

"Excuse me."

All eyes are staring at the door. Two doctors come in with some documents in their hands.

"Greetings, Enigma. We're the medical officers who treat your grandchildren."

Young nods. "Go ahead. Tell me the situation."

Both of them smile while handing the reports to Young. "Both are fine now. Beta Cirrus manages to pass the critical hour so he'll be fine. As for Alpha Fa, his sight will be normal soon, but we need help from his Omega."

"Why?" Ezra immediately bites his lips when he realizes he has been hasty again.

"It is recommended for the Golden Alpha to be around his Omega as the mate's pheromone can act as a healing booster. He'll recover faster than usual."

All eyes now shift to Ezra. He feels a boulder is crushing his shoulder.

"Good. We shall see if these two cubs are mates or not," Young hands back the medical report. "It's not like I don't trust Cir and his work. But, when something like this happens in a rush, I need to ensure there's no ulterior motive."

In other words, he doesn't trust me... Ezra murmurs inside.

The pressure is getting heavier for him.

"Aside from that, nothing harmful so far. Oh, there's one more good news."

Everyone pauses, anticipating.

"Omega Tul is pregnant. Congratulations..."
