Chapter 4 - The evolution

"Evolution complete."

What happened? Why do I feel different?

"System Notification: You have evolved.

You can now fly and have fully developed wings, but you can only fly short distances. You also have fully hardened claws capable of creating air blades strong enough to damage even rocks. In addition, you now possess fire breath, but it is limited to three seconds and does only minimal damage for now."

Oh, cool. I'm actually a dragon now.

Took long enough.

So, how long has it been since I started evolving?

"Two days."

That explains why I'm so hungry. I still have some leftover goblin meat—I'll just eat that.

System, is there any way I can get stronger or obtain abilities more easily?

"System Notification: Yes, but you must reach level 50 first. Currently, you are only level 5."

How do I level up?

"System Notification: By defeating and consuming stronger and stronger monsters."

Well, I guess I should get to work on killing more monsters, then.

Although… I haven't seen any since I beat those goblins. But I'm sure something will show up soon.

Until then, I need to find a mountain to call home.

For some reason, I feel drawn to that mountain over there. Maybe it's because it's unbelievably tall.

And if that mountain is that tall… I wonder how big this world really is?

Whatever. I'll find out one day. It's not like I'll be stuck in this forest forever.

Anyway, time to test out these new wings of mine.

Flap, flap, flap, flap.

Plop!

I don't exactly have a very graceful landing yet.

Made it to the mountain, though—and there's a cave up here.

Even though the mountain is unbelievably tall, its peak still doesn't reach the clouds.

It might be almost halfway there, though.

Well, I should get some rest. The sun is starting to set, and I'm tired.

Good night, world. Thanks for this new opportunity at life.

Zzzzzz…
