Chapter 259: Her Beloved Dragon
Aevyra's lips never reached Cassian.
A pair of delicate hands pulled him away from the goddess. Cassian was lifted off the ground by the scruff of his neck like a kitten caught misbehaving.
When he turned his head, he met a pair of white eyes.
Artemisia's hair fell past her shoulders, and her white dress looked spotless even amid the dust surrounding them. Soft light radiating from her skin fell across Cassian's face and neck.
But there was nothing gentle about the look in her white eyes.
Cassian shut his mouth.
The goddess looked him over from head to toe, then turned her gaze to Aevyra.
The smile had vanished from Aevyra's face.
Her eyes widened, and golden mana rose from beneath her feet. Power filled the cracks in the ground, tearing the surrounding stones loose. Her lips trembled; even with her teeth clenched, she could not hide the hatred spreading across her face.
"How did you get in here?!"
